Chapter 549: The Mortal Coil (4)
Wu Kuang didn't need to be told a second time. With an eagerness to practice he went down to the remaining portion of the inked giant spirit god. There he practiced to his heart's content. It was like a kid in a candy store.
Yang Kai flew off to another place in the Void to cultivate and understand the new abilities he has access to. In short, there were quite a lot of things available to him.
Meanwhile I continued refining Mortal Coils, improving the process as I did so. Be it in speed or number of simultaneous refinements, I was clearly making leaps and bounds of improvements on the process. The remaining cultivators stuck at the pinnacle of the 6th rank, watched in awe. Usually, I would improve speed and then amount at once… After 5 months, I managed to achieve refining 108 Mortal Coils each time, and at a pace of 2 days for each processing.
"Heh, even with this much, it's still not enough for all of the 6th rank open heavens out there…" I said, muttering to myself as I looked among the seemingly never ending crowd of 6th ranks. Then I felt something and opened a portal to Star Boundary, Smiles stepped through. "Mother Smiles, how…" I started.
"Enough of the sweet talking. Come home, and bring your father. We are getting a little impatient." Smiles said, cutting me off. "You've already made the pills, we're going to be using them now." She added, which was everything I needed to know.
I looked down at the Ink Giant Spirit God, and Wu Kuang who seemed to be finished with his task. So I looked around once more, noting that almost everyone was finished with this massive boon to the human race. All the direct result of my breakthrough.
"I can't leave quite yet, Mother Smiles. There is still one more thing I must check on. While I do that, and since you're here do you mind seeing how you like this thing?" I said, floating a Mortal Coil over to Smiles before teleporting down to Wu Kuang.
"That boy is always so serious… Hmm, this… I'm refining this." Smiles said, as her eyes bulged upon noticing some of the insane benefits the Coil would bring her. "With this… Myself and the others will finally be able to fight at full strength without worrying about the Ink Force's corrosion!" She said, accidentally revealing a terrifying truth.
"Old… Old Ancestor…" Some murmured in awe by the sheer presence a 9th rank had. It was quite stifling when a burst of their pressure radiated out.
Smiles, at this moment, had already drowned out anything other than potential dangers. And she began refining the Mortal Coil with a hasteful glee. For someone of her strength, it was even easier than when Wu Kuang did it. Once finished she realized just how important this thing could be for the battlefield.
"When he returns I'm going to make sure these get delivered to every one of the passes. Though I don't know how many he can make right now…" Smiles uttered her thoughts aloud, not asking, but making it clear she wanted an answer.
"Reporting to the Old Ancestor, The Divine Monarch is able to refine 108 Mortal Coils at once, and takes 2 days for completion." One of the newly christened 7th ranks reported the answer.
"Oh? Even for him that's impressive. These things are easily top tier 9th rank artifacts or better. And he can make them so quickly?" Smiles smirked. "Seems the Ink Clan's days are well and truly numbered. With this, and that token from before our position has really improved. Even I could handle fighting two Royal Lords at once if I have both of those things." She continued in her excitement.
Near what remains of the Ink Giant Spirit God, I appeared in full view of Wu Kuang. I then took a closer look at the area he had been chipping away at. And I made my estimation based on the sheer quantity of damage I saw there. And a smirk slipped onto my face, everything really has gone well even with the annoying hiccups recently.
"Well, what do you think, Brat's Brat, good enough?" Wu Kuang asked, with a confident smile.
"I have taken a good look at this scene. There's just one thing left for you to do, isn't there?" I replied, crossing my arms to wait for the response.
Wu Kuang seemed surprised for a moment, then a similar smirk appeared on his face. "You're right, I thought I was at the same point too. Though it's good to hear that you think the same." He commented as his aura burst into a flurry of flares, his small universe went through a huge change, expanding once again and achieving the 9th rank. "To think it was easier this time than it was previously…" He uttered in shock as he began consolidating his cultivation.
"I had a feeling this would be the case. You do have all 12 of the columns in there plus a large portion of fate strength. I'd be more worried if you had struggled." I chuckled, pointing at the obvious as two rings appeared in my hand. "These rings contain gifts. One for Cang and one for you." On my other hand I drew two universes recently created in the spatial territory, depositing an absurd number of people on both of them. "One of these is for you and one for Cang. Take them with you, it should help to stabilize your growth. There is a self setting Array plate in each ring that once used will allow the people to farm and refine the very same pills I created. So even with a small population, it will turn into a bustling world." I continued, with a chuckle on the last part.
"Yeah yeah, I got it." Wu Kuang said, taking the gifts and putting his ring on while storing the other things away inside his small universe. "This… This ring… Just how wealthy are you exactly?" He asked with a face that screamed "How the fuck did you get so much!".
"Ahahaha, don't worry about that. Even if it was a bit on the expensive side, I'd much rather have 2 masters operating the seal's defenses than 1 novice. For that to happen faster I need Cang to stay alive." I laughed with a big smile, teleporting the two of us back to where Smiles was.
