Chapter 234: New York Sanctum

Despite many citizens passing by, they never glanced at the temple.

The explanation that the wizards in New York Sanctum say is that magic was at work on the building. Even if ordinary citizens saw the temple, they would forget it due to the magic's influence. Those without special markings would never enter the building. The explanation didn't make sense, if it were this, people would at least look at this building.

"It seems like it's not the same as Earth's dimension..." Daisy carefully sensed it. The temple's frequency was completely different from the outside world's. Forcefully explaining it, it seemed as if it existed in a dimension slightly higher than Earth's, but by how much was unknown. This slight difference in elevation made it impossible for the average person's brain to receive its information.

Daisy didn't know that her conversation with the Dark Phoenix was also a product of cross-dimensional communication. The difference was that one was unattainable, while the other reached a slightly higher level within an acceptable range. That was the only difference.

Thinking she had seen through the mysteries of the so-called magic, she began to examine the entire building.

Externally, it appeared to be an ordinary three-story structure with a slightly weathered exterior. The doors and windows were tightly shut, but the large National Grid logo on the third floor told Daisy that she was in the right place.

Climbing the steps to the front door, she lightly knocked, and within two seconds, the two wooden doors slowly opened inward.

Stepping into the main hall, the room seemed to be about three hundred square meters and was dimly lit. However, the old furnishings, arranged by the owner, didn't seem out of place. Paintings and porcelain vases added color to the room, and every two meters along the walls were oil lamps. The bright yellow light seemed to flicker with the visitor's breath.

Daisy held her breath for a few seconds and found the light bright, but as she inhaled, the light began to flicker slightly.

Sensor lights? Quite advanced! The founder of the temple must have gone all out to create this kind of mysterious atmosphere.

The fat wizard, as if he had known she would come today at this hour, was waiting in the main hall. Seeing she seemed to have something to say, he interrupted her. "Let's go upstairs. Please follow me."

Today, the mage wasn't wearing his usual robe but was dressed in the attire of an ancient person, with a tunic made of burlap, revealing his sturdy arms. He wore a cloth belt around his waist.

He could travel back in time, and without changing his clothes, could start farming with a hoe.

However, with this attire, paired with his fat face and barrel-like thick waist, if he picked up two short axes, he would definitely look more intimidating than he did in his previous robe.

"Wong." The fat sorcerer named Wong was afraid she didn't understand and pointed to himself, indicating that was his name.

"We're not bad people." Wong, leading the way, explained in English. Daisy thought to herself, she was in the process of recruiting Hydra, and she was definitely not a good person!

Daisy had recognized this item early on. Ancient One had died, this stuff continued living, Doctor Strange hangs up, he could still continue living. He could be described as someone with not much strength but very good luck.

She also introduced herself by name. The two walked up to the second floor along the grand staircase. Along the way, they passed several wizards in robes with hoods, who didn't acknowledge them, and Wong didn't introduce them. Both sides acted as if the other didn't exist.

There was a strong sense of distrust between them, but neither side showed it in front of an outsider.

The conflict seemed intense, she sighed inwardly. Political struggles were everywhere! She followed Wong up to the third floor.

To the left on the third floor was an exhibition room, but they were going to the right to the meeting room.

Daisy glanced at the many magical items in the display room, including Doctor Strange's cape later on. She looked sideways, unfortunately, magic items were not meant for her; each one was lifeless, without any reaction.

Fatty Wong, now named by Daisy in her mind, was walking in front, and saw all this, expressionless.

The two walked from the first floor to the third floor, passing ninety-nine steps, and finally reached the reception room on the third floor, looking out at half a block through the window marked with the National Grid sign.

"How much does Miss Johnson know about this world?" Fatty Wong asked her in Chinese.

Daisy was slightly startled; this guy spoke very standard Chinese, much better than Madam Gao, very proper and round, much like Mandarin.

She had an Asian face and was also an agent, Wong did not need to think she wouldn't know the language. Seeing the ancient style and charm around her, she also imitated the tone from novels, just short of making a clasped hand gesture: "Please, could you elaborate?"

Fatty Wong nearly choked on his saliva, but fortunately, his neck was thick enough, and he swallowed it down forcefully.

He coughed once, "Miss Johnson speaks Chinese very well, you must have put in a lot of effort regularly. What I mean to say is, there are many dangers in this world that ordinary people cannot see, even your SHIELD doesn't know."

"Is that true?"

"Cough cough... Yes, indeed. Do you know about magic?"

"I would be eager to have a discussion." Daisy made a very masculine clasped hand gesture and bow.

Fatty Wong's cheeks trembled slightly, he held back for a moment, and finally couldn't resist, "Let's just speak normally, there are many terms I can't clearly express." He switched to English.

Daisy said "Oh," her face curious, waiting for him to continue.

"This..." His words were interrupted repeatedly, and Fatty Wong didn't know how to continue.

"She's a spiritual little girl; let me talk to her." Just then, a golden radiance flashed not far behind them, and a bald woman wearing a bright yellow robe stepped out from it.

"Master!" Fatty Wong greeted with some excitement, bowing; the bald woman gestured with her hand that he could leave.

Daisy had anticipated the appearance of the Ancient One; she had saved Fatty Wong, and logically, the Ancient One should appear and say a few words.

It was just that the presence of the Ancient One gave her palpitations. She had thought it would be somewhat like The Mandarin, but now it seemed there was a fundamental difference between the two.

One was a surging river, the other an immensely vast ocean; both were indescribable magnificence to mortals, but in essence, they differed significantly, perhaps similar in quality, but entirely different in quantity.

However, the energy emanating from the Ancient One's body faintly emitted a malicious aura, only being forcibly suppressed by herself.

In Daisy's perception, she was like a living super energy source, her body covered with golden radiant energy lines, and every minute and every second, she was emitting strong energy waves all around.

As the Ancient One moved her hand and took steps, it caused huge vibrations in Daisy's frequency perception, who was accustomed to sensing the world through frequencies. Daisy felt extremely uncomfortable, quickly condensing her ability, while her eyes squinted slightly, turning her head to the side.

"You should respect the Sorcerer Supreme!" Fatty Wong was furious, thinking Daisy's turning head gesture was very impolite, and also felt his move to inform the Ancient One was too reckless.

"It's no harm, it's a normal reaction, let her adjust for a bit. You go down first and bring us two cups of tea." The Ancient One's face was clear, her attire simple, she sat on a chair, slowly containing her overflowing magical power.
