The Vixen's Gambit: Tonight We Hunt

Chapter 18: I Have to Die Now

"Kallen, are you really going?"

In her room, Lihua fed Kallen while showing concern.

"I have no choice, it's a direct order from the Archbishop," Kallen said calmly as she ate a cookie, leaning against Lihua with a happy expression. "Don't worry, I'm strong."

Strong?

That depends on who you're comparing yourself to, Lihua thought helplessly.

The current Fu Hua, the immortal, was undoubtedly the strongest person in the world.

You, Kallen, with just a Judah, isn't even enough for her to warm up...

But Lihua couldn't say that. She hadn't been to Shenzhou and hadn't met Fu Hua. She couldn't just tell Kallen that her friend told her she would be beat up by the Shenzhou's Red Immortal.

Kallen wouldn't believe it anyway.

It was 1475 now, five years after the Black Death.

After using the Black Death to take over all of Europe, a newly empowered Schicksal organized a crusade to the East. They were unstoppable until they crashed against the Ming Dynasty.

Even with all of Europe's resources, the Schicksal army was still embroiled in a stalemate against the Ming Dynasty.

Finally, Schicksal used Honkai energy weapons that they had developed in secret.

At the cost of possibly infecting and killing their own soldiers, Schicksal gained an advantage using these Honkai weapons, until a Shenzhou immortal appeared.

No matter how strong the Honkai weapons were, they were useless against the immortal. They were like children's toys. The Schicksal army was easily crushed.

But even so, Schicksal's leaders still hadn't given up on their delusions of invading the Ming Dynasty. They gathered all of their troops on the Kipchak Steppe.

To fight against the immortal, Schicksal called their strongest Valkyrie, Kallen, to the front lines, hoping to decide the battle once and for all.

Lihua's reaction to Schicksal's plan was: They're just seeking death.

You couldn't compare an immortal and a human. Even if Fu Hua had to fight the entire Schicksal army by herself, she'd probably take them all out with one swipe.

Unfortunately, no one at Schicksal HQ, including Otto and Kallen, would listen to her. Everyone was eager to fight, as if winning this battle meant they could retire and get married.

Kallen was leaving for the Kipchak Steppe in a couple of days. Lihua was worried.

In Lihua's memory, Schicksal's battle ended in a horrible defeat. Kallen was easily defeated by Fu Hua and almost killed. Only when Otto arrived and protected her did Fu Hua finally let her live.

But the problem now was that Otto didn't seem like he was planning on going to the front line at all.

Otto was probably a high-ranking Schicksal member now. He didn't need to take care of the medical problems of the front lines. He also had no desire to do so.

"Don't worry, Lihua. Whether Schicksal wins or loses, this war is good for us."

When Lihua asked Otto, that was his answer. "I'll use this chance to clean everything up, then it will all be over."

He would take control of all of Schicksal, eliminate his political enemies, and then propose to Lihua!

Lihua didn't know what "cleaning everything up" meant. What was supposed to be "over?"

She went to Otto confused and came back confused. Other than learning that he wasn't planning on going to the Kipchak Steppe, she hadn't gotten any other information.

Kallen's attitude was also weird. She wasn't reluctant about this unjust war; she seemed excited.

"Don't worry Lihua, I'll win!"

When Lihua asked Kallen, she answered, "By then, no one will be able to stop us!"

She would defeat the Shenzhou immortal! Who would dare to say "no" to her? Would anyone dare object to her marrying Lihua?!

She would bring Lihua and all of Europe into the era that she had envisioned!

Lihua didn't know what Kallen was talking about. What are you planning?

She looked at Kallen, confused, and watched her leave. Other than learning that Kallen was going to challenge Fu Hua, she had gotten no new information.

What was going on? Did something change in the timeline when she wasn't paying attention?

Lihua's Kaslana brain was about to overheat, but she still couldn't figure out what those two were planning.

Damn it, my bloodline is really a debuff!

But Kallen and Otto seemed to be carrying way too many flags!

Confused, Lihua decided to go on with her plan. She would go to the Kipchak Steppe and die.

She had heard from her friend that Fu Hua didn't kill Kallen because she was still redeemable. At that time, Kallen was a Schicksal subordinate Valkyrie who used Honkai energy weapons.

Using Honkai like that was on Fu Hua's hit list.

Kallen was only able to survive because Otto possessed the Void Archive aka Key of Revelation. The Void Archive was the key to accessing the knowledge from the previous era. Fu Hua let Kallen go because the person with the key, Otto, protected her.

But Otto hadn't immediately arrived after Kallen was defeated. So she just needed to arrive earlier than Otto, use Honkai energy weapons to protect Kallen, and she should be easily killed by Fu Hua.

If she died to protect Kallen, then she would make a fortune in energy from Kallen!

And since she died to protect Kallen, Otto would probably shed a few tears for her, which was another good source of energy.

When the news of her death spread through Europe, she could harvest even more energy from her devoted fans. If she died at this point, she wouldn't be tainted by Schicksal's future actions, like the sales of indulgences. She might even become a saint remembered by the people.

It was a pity she was unsure whether she would get the energy after she died.

Thinking it through, she had to die!

The only problem was that if Otto didn't come, after Fu Hua killed her, she would also kill Kallen. After all, she didn't have the Void Archive...

I hope Fu Hua doesn't go on a killing spree. A life for a life, or else I don't know how the rest of the story will unfold.

Amen.
