The Almighty Diva: Reborn to be Worshipped

Chapter 30: The Brotherhood Beyond the First

"If I hadn't come in person, my little girl would have had to spend the night here tonight—and who knows how she'd be treated."

His voice carried no overt emotion, yet it commanded a quiet reverence from everyone present. The title "Second Master Bo" wasn't universally understood, but those close to power knew exactly what weight those three words held. Even those unfamiliar with his name could sense that anyone capable of earning Qin Taizhang's deference was someone extraordinary.

At the very least, Deputy Director Zheng understood: this man could crush his career and future at any moment—starting now. His face turned ashen.

The elderly gentleman who had been discussing chess earlier was none other than Shen Daozhang, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. In South City, Shen Daozhang was no minor figure; he had once saved Qin Taizhang's life after an injury years ago. As for Wen Lian, the Wen family already wielded considerable influence in South City, maintaining strong ties with Director Zhou. Moreover, Wen Lian was widely regarded as the most promising generation of the Wen clan.

Qin Taizhang spoke solemnly, "I will investigate this matter thoroughly and provide Second Master Bo with a satisfactory resolution."

"Tsk," Bo Yanchen replied dismissively. "Whether there's an explanation or not is up to my girl."

Upon hearing this, Qin Taizhang's expression tightened slightly. He glanced at Director Zhou, who immediately signaled for Ji Chuxing to be brought out.

Two minutes later, Ji Chuxing appeared, momentarily startled by the crowd outside.

Old Doctor Shen, who had watched her being taken away, was visibly concerned. "Little Divine Doctor, are you alright?"

Wen Lian remained silent, standing aside while observing Ji Chuxing.

He still couldn't quite grasp why he'd intervened in this situation. Something about the determined young girl told him she wasn't as Zhou Ru described.

Bo Yanchen smiled faintly and gestured for Ji Chuxing to approach.

Ji Chuxing nodded toward Old Doctor Shen. "I'm fine."

She walked over to Bo Yanchen, who had already pulled out a box of milk candies. "Eat first."

Without much expression, Ji Chuxing took two candies and popped them into her mouth. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Bo Yanchen produced a large cup of bubble tea and handed it to her.

Her mood instantly brightened. Fang He, standing nearby, bit his lip nervously, but no one else dared to speak.

Bo Yanchen studied Ji Chuxing carefully, ensuring she was unharmed before pulling her closer. "Let's go home."

"Wait, Little Divine Doctor!" Old Doctor Shen called out.

Ji Chuxing turned back and nodded. "Thank you for today."

Old Doctor Shen, unused to such politeness from her, felt a bit awkward. Wen Lian, though outwardly cold, couldn't help but keep glancing at Ji Chuxing. Would she thank him too? But after exchanging pleasantries with Old Doctor Shen, she said nothing. He felt a pang of disappointment.

As Ji Chuxing and Bo Yanchen began walking away, she suddenly stopped. "Director Qin."

Qin Taizhang stiffened. "Miss Ji, please speak."

Ji Chuxing gave a faint smile. "I just remembered something. Three years ago, I visited South City and witnessed a car accident on Golden Elephant Avenue. Two people died—one of them a truck driver named Zhou Ningcheng, if I recall correctly."

Qin Taizhang froze, then his expression grew grave.

Deputy Director Zheng, standing a few steps behind, broke into a nervous sweat, looking utterly discomfited. He wanted to stop Ji Chuxing from speaking further, but under the stern gaze of Qin Taizhang and Bo Yanchen, he didn't dare open his mouth.

With a slight smile, Ji Chuxen added, "I have a classmate surnamed Zhou who claims to be the daughter of a murderer. But I know the truth—her father was actually the victim. It's confusing. Do you handle cases like this?"

Qin Taizhang responded gravely, "Rest assured, I'll take charge of this matter personally."

Ji Chuxing nodded and left with Bo Yanchen. Old Doctor Shen and Wen Lian followed without another word.

Outside, Lu Xing stood with his arm in a sling, accompanied by Zhao Feifei and others, including Zhou Sixue. Zhou Sixue, having learned that the incident stemmed from her actions, waited anxiously with red-rimmed eyes. Fortunately, Zhao Feifei and Lu Xing hadn't chased her away.

When Ji Chuxing emerged, Zhao Feifei, Wu Hao, and Lu Xing rushed forward. "Divine Ji, are you okay?"

Ji Chuxing raised an eyebrow. "I'm fine. Just came to make a statement."

They exchanged glances, thinking, *Does she think we're children?*

Zhou Sixue hesitated, unsure whether to approach. Meanwhile, Lu Xing and Zhao Feifei noticed Bo Yanchen beside Ji Chuxing. Despite sitting in a wheelchair, his presence was impossible to ignore.

Lu Xing's expression shifted subtly, tinged with respect. "M-Master Bo."

Bo Yanchen smiled warmly at him.

Having grown up in the capital, Lu Xing had never seen this side of Master Bo. Swallowing nervously, he kept his distance. Zhao Feifei inspected Ji Chuxing closely, while Wu Hao chattered away, asking if she was hungry or hurt.

Bo Yanchen watched silently, pleased. It seemed his little girl had made some good friends at school—they clearly cared for her.

Despite her apparent impatience, she didn't reject their concern. She even reassured another girl, "It's not your fault. Don't worry about it."

Though her tone was stiff and awkward, Bo Yanchen found her endearing all the same.

"All right, kids," Bo Yanchen interjected gently, noticing her growing irritation. "Your Divine Ji is fine. It's late. Go home and rest—you have school tomorrow."

Reluctantly, they dispersed.

Ji Chuxing let out a relieved sigh.

Wen Lian, standing nearby, watched the scene unfold with mixed emotions. Suddenly, Ji Chuxing turned and looked at him.

Wen Lian immediately straightened up, adopting a formal demeanor.

Ji Chuxing, appearing drowsy, touched her nose lightly. "Thank you."

Wen Lian, realizing she was thanking him, felt a surge of joy. His usually stern face softened, and a faint smile spread across his lips. "You're welcome. We're practically family. If anything happens in the future, feel free to find me."

_I… I can be like an older brother to you._

But he didn't say it aloud. Ji Chuxing waved dismissively. "I have nothing to do with the Wen family."

Wen Lian hesitated, but Bo Yanchen shot him a glance. "Young Master Wen, it's late. My little girl needs to rest."

Wen Lian frowned but said nothing more. Ji Chuxing paid him no mind and climbed into the car with Bo Yanchen.

The vehicle moved slowly through the night.

Bo Yanchen studied Ji Chuxing thoughtfully. "Kid, you thanked everyone else—but not me?"

Ji Chuxing, slurping jelly, mumbled indistinctly, "Uh… thank you."

"Who are you thanking?"

"Thank you, Second Brother?"

"Do you have other brothers? Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth?"

Ji Chuxing paused, shooting him a sidelong glance. "No."

"Then what should you call me?" The man leaned closer, his warm eyes teasing playfully.

Beautiful beyond measure.

Ji Chuxing turned her head, gazing out the window at the receding streetlights.

Bo Yanchen chuckled softly, ruffling her hair. "Ungrateful little thing."

Ji Chuxing finished the last bite of jelly and glanced at him. Over the past couple of days, he'd gotten into the habit of carrying milk candies, casually pulling one out of his pocket and handing it to her.

"This is the last one for tonight—a punishment for naughty kids. Next time, remember to call me."

Though his words were firm, his eyes brimmed with warmth, like a comforting spring inviting her closer.

Slowly, Ji Chuxing accepted the candy, holding it in her hand without eating it. He then handed her a white phone. "Take this. It has my number and an emergency button. If you can't come home on time or if something happens at school, let me know."

Ji Chuxing took it, and he gently patted her head. "Our Star Treasure has a home now. Remember to check in. With your big brother around, you can do whatever makes you happy."

Ji Chuxing stared at the white phone, silent throughout the short ride.

When they arrived, she got out first. Bo Yanchen, assisted by Fang He, settled into his wheelchair. As he adjusted himself, her soft voice reached his ears.

"Thank you, big brother."

Master Bo felt complete. Even the strange drink she handed him tasted sweeter than usual.
