Chapter 106: Gifting Elixirs, Intelligence Agents Return from Spirit City
Ye Tian chuckled lightly and said, "Not only are there people living there, but life on the islands is much simpler and more joyful than on the mainland. There are no nobles acting recklessly and no taxes being collected; life there is entirely skill-based."
Bibi Dong hesitated and asked, "If life for pirates is so free, why don't a large number of commoners flee to the islands to live there?"
"As I just said, life there is entirely skill-based. Living with a knife's edge to your throat isn't everyone's dream," Ye Tian replied with an awkward smile.
"And is it yours?" Bibi Dong was even more puzzled. Could it be that Ye Tian enjoyed such an adventurous lifestyle?
"Of course not. I don't like putting myself in danger, especially with you around, Sister." Ye Tian laughed casually.
"But, Sister, don't forget—I have the Heavenly Strategy Army under my command."
"One Pearl Island? I could easily settle ten of them if needed."
"So don't worry about danger after relocating."
Bibi Dong began to grasp Ye Tian's mindset.
If she were truly Ye Tian's sister and not the Supreme Pontiff of the Spirit Hall, perhaps she would agree without hesitation.
But in reality, there are no such "ifs."
"Let me think about it," Bibi Dong replied, neither agreeing nor refusing, opting instead to delay.
Of course, she wouldn't follow Ye Tian to live on an island. Instead, she was considering how to confront him after Nana's wedding.
"Alright."
Ye Tian nodded lightly and didn't press further.
After all, relocating was a sudden suggestion.
Nonetheless, giving Bibi Dong time to think was merely a temporary gesture of diplomacy. There was no doubt in his mind that staying on the mainland was more dangerous and unpredictable.
No matter what Bibi Dong decided, he was determined to move the whole family to the island.
If she couldn't adapt, they could always return in four or five years when the mainland's conflicts had subsided, and peace had been restored.
The two, each lost in thought, arrived at Butterfly Valley.
In the distance, Hu Liena stood frozen, staring blankly at the wedding stage.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Hu Liena turned around, astonished. "It's dozens of meters high! How magnificent!"
When she had received the blueprints a few days earlier, she hadn't realized how grand the actual structure would be.
After expressing her amazement, Hu Liena felt a pang of regret.
"Ye Tian, this was really unnecessary. It's just a wedding. Once it's over, these structures will probably go unused. It seems like such a waste."
"This was all Chen Jian's doing," Ye Tian shrugged, showing his helplessness.
The older generation's mentality, focused on grandeur and magnificence, was indeed somewhat stubborn.
Mentioning this reminded Ye Tian of something important.
From his storage space, he retrieved two ancient jade bottles.
"These are Heavenly Essence Elixirs and Soul Stabilizing Elixirs. They can cleanse and refine your body and enhance your comprehension. I'm giving them to you."
"Thank you, Brother!"
Hu Liena, overjoyed, accepted the elixirs without hesitation.
As a member of the Spirit Hall's golden generation, her desire to enhance her soul power was unparalleled.
Opening one of the bottles, a fragrant medicinal aroma wafted out.
Just one whiff made her feel incredibly refreshed.
Hu Liena was deeply moved, knowing that the elixirs Ye Tian had crafted were extraordinarily precious.
Even the mighty Spirit Hall couldn't produce such top-tier elixirs.
"I'm so happy!"
Hu Liena exclaimed with glee, nearly jumping in excitement.
"Look how happy you are," Ye Tian teased, tapping her delicate nose.
"By the way, what's your martial soul?"
"It's been so many days, and I haven't seen you practice. You can't rely on elixirs alone to improve your cultivation," Ye Tian advised earnestly.
Hearing this, Hu Liena was startled.
Ye Tian was well-traveled and knowledgeable; if she revealed her martial soul as the Celestial Fox, he would surely find out the truth.
Suppressing her unease, Hu Liena quickly responded, "My martial soul is… my eyes."
A body-type martial soul, even when displayed, would reveal little.
Although Ye Tian found her response a bit odd, he didn't dwell on it.
He simply reminded her, "If you want to achieve anything in the field of martial souls, you can't slack off."
Ye Tian wasn't concerned about whether Hu Liena could become a titled Douluo.
After all, he didn't expect her to provide any combat support. Living a peaceful life was enough.
"Got it, Brother," Hu Liena said playfully, sticking out her tongue.
In truth, she worked very hard in her training, but in front of Ye Tian, she had to stop to avoid exposing herself.
Fortunately, this situation wouldn't last long.
"Teacher, I heard from Uncle Chen that my wedding dress is in the dressing room behind the stage. Shall we go take a look?"
Hu Liena turned her gaze to Bibi Dong.
"Sure," Ye Tian replied with a chuckle before Bibi Dong could respond.
"Uh, Brother, you can't come with us," Hu Liena said seriously, stopping him.
Ye Tian's expression turned stern. "Is this gender discrimination?"
"Probably," Hu Liena replied with a giggle.
Taking Bibi Dong's arm, she cheerfully headed toward the dressing room.
In the end, Ye Tian stayed where he was.
At that moment, Chen Jian arrived, slightly out of breath, and approached Ye Tian.
"Young Master, just now, Thirteen came to report that the agents sent to gather intelligence in Spirit City have returned."
"Where are they?"
Ye Tian looked up slightly. Although he wasn't particularly interested in Spirit Hall's movements, it wouldn't hurt to listen.
"I guessed you might want to see them, so I had them wait at the entrance to Butterfly Valley."
Hearing that the agents were just outside the valley, Ye Tian nodded.
Thinking that it would take some time for the women to change clothes, he decided to make use of the waiting time.
"Let's go see them."
"Yes, sir," Chen Jian replied, following Ye Tian out of the valley.
...
Outside the valley, two intelligence agents dressed as merchants were chatting casually.
Seeing Ye Tian approach with Chen Jian, they immediately straightened up and saluted, "Greetings, Young Master!"
Ye Tian waved lightly and smiled. "You've worked hard."
Still in their traveling clothes, it was clear they had come to report as soon as possible.
Being a man of fairness, Ye Tian turned to Chen Jian and said, "Tell Thirteen that everyone involved in this mission will have their end-of-month bonuses doubled."
"Understood."
Chen Jian took out a small notebook and jotted it down.
Ye Tian looked at the two agents before him and said, "Now, tell me what you've discovered."
"Yes, Young Master," one of the older agents replied respectfully.
"We stayed in Spirit City for over half a month. As instructed by Captain Thirteen, the focus of this operation was training, so we didn't delve too deeply.
"However, we did manage to infiltrate several administrative offices under the Spirit Hall."
"We found that the Supreme Pontiff of the Spirit Hall has been secretly missing for quite some time."
