Chapter 43: Chapter 43
The sharp sounds of gunfire were accompanied by the flashing glints of blades. In just a few moments, the vampires who failed to escape were completely eradicated by Blade and Alex's combined efforts.
"Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!"
The particles of the vampires' bodies swirled rapidly, forming fine streams that danced like a whirling ribbon, circling back into Alex's Annihilation Eyes (a unique power).
"Zzz!"
The blood-red glow emanating from his eyes grew more intense. In this moment, Alex could clearly feel his body being enhanced once again. With a single strike, his strength reached at least ten tons. Without the aid of his Annihilation Eyes, his speed was already reaching half the speed of sound (160 meters per second).
With the Annihilation Eyes enhancing his speed, he would soon be moving at speeds close to or even exceeding the speed of sound!
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
As Alex was immersed in his own power, the behind-the-scenes vampire boss, Quinn, appeared with a dozen or so of his underlings.
"These are the ones!" Quinn, with a disheveled and sleazy look, excitedly pointed at Blade and Alex, holding his knife. "Everyone, let's take them down!"
"I'm going to carve you up! Tear your arms and legs off!!"
Quinn shouted excitedly, as his subordinates—each wielding weapons—slowly approached Blade and Alex.
Seeing the enemies getting closer, Blade coldly drew his long sword from his back. But that wasn't all—he even made a few gestures, pretending to be some sort of grandmaster, dragging his sword tip on the ground a few times.
Alex, coming to his senses, glanced at the approaching enemies, then cast a side glance at Blade, silently thinking the same thing.
"Idiot!"
With his Ghost Eyes, Alex was a master swordsman at the god-level of the Shiming Flow (a legendary sword technique). Even without the Ghost Eyes, he still possessed the experience and vision of a super swordsman. However, the man in front of him had no swordsmanship technique to speak of—based solely on Blade's posture and how he held the sword, Alex could tell that Blade had never even learned the basics!
Alex didn't need to compare Blade to him—just comparing Blade to a mutant weapon like the "Subject 11" before the experimental fusion could easily have him slain in an instant!
"Where did this fool get the confidence to call himself Blade?"
"Go!"
While Alex was silently critiquing, two vampires wielding iron rods rushed toward Blade. Blade ducked, evading their attacks, and then swung his sword with great force. "Shing! Shing!" The two vampires who couldn't dodge in time were instantly injured and turned to dust, fading away.
"Pathetic!" Alex shook his head, commenting on Blade's swordsmanship.
"Ah! Ah!"
At that moment, two vampires leaped into the air, roaring as they attacked Alex from above.
"You think you're a witch, huh?!"
Without turning his head, Alex sneered and swung his katana in a horizontal slash. A flash of dazzling light cut through the air, slicing both vampires cleanly in half, and they fell to the ground.
The loss of two companions didn't intimidate the others. From a nearby side door, several more vampires with submachine guns rushed out, grinning wickedly. They took aim at Alex's position and prepared to fire.
"You can't even use guns properly. Too slow!"
Before Alex finished speaking, a brilliant flash of sword light appeared out of nowhere. Moments later, the vampires screamed in pain as their bodies rapidly turned into dust.
"Boring!"
Saying this, Alex stepped forward, his body appearing behind several vampires in the blink of an eye. Those vampires, left frozen in place, were like puppets with their joints locked. As Alex slowly walked away, fine lines of blood began to appear on their necks, and they fell silent—dead before they even had a chance to react.
"Such speed!"
The remaining vampires were terrified. This human boy moved faster than any vampire they knew—far faster than them! It was completely shocking to them.
"Vampires? How disappointing!"
Alex, with a steady gaze, walked toward Quinn, his katana tip scraping against the ground, sending sparks flying. Despite the carnage, Alex's calmness was unnerving.
"The Ancestor is watching!!"
Quinn gasped, his eyes widening. Alex's every step seemed to him as if the Grim Reaper himself were approaching, with an inevitable and overwhelming sense of death closing in.
In front of Alex, a vampire turned to flee, but after a "Shing", his motion abruptly stopped. A line of blood appeared on his forehead, running down his body until he was sliced cleanly in half. His body rapidly turned into dust, disintegrating into particles.
"Who are you, really?"
Quinn, still shaken, tried to keep his composure, his vampire pride barely keeping him rational. His gaze fixed on the steadily advancing Alex, who walked at a slow but deliberate pace. The sound of each footstep was deafening, each step an unyielding drumbeat of doom.
It was terrifying.
Too terrifying!
Quinn had never felt such fear before. How could a mere human—so weak, so foolish, so terrified of death—become so powerful and terrifying?!
"Shing! Shing!!"
A few more flashes of sword light, and every vampire in the room except Quinn and half-vampire Blade was dead.
With a calm gaze, Alex continued his forward march, his sword dragging on the ground, creating a soft rasping sound. Sparks scattered as his sword scraped the earth.
"Don't kill me! Please, don't kill me…" Quinn trembled as he backed away, begging for mercy.
"…"
Alex didn't even acknowledge Quinn's pleas. He continued his march, the butcher of this slaughterhouse. As one of the chief instigators of this chaos, Quinn had to die!
At the same time, Alex was filled with disappointment.
When he first heard about vampires in this world, he imagined they would be powerful and would give him the opportunity to fight to his heart's content. However, reality was far from his expectations. Despite their vast reserves of elven energy, these vampires were embarrassingly weak. Even Blade, with his mediocre skills, could make them flee in terror. How could Alex truly fight them?
"Since you're useless, just die quietly!"
Alex's gaze hardened, his steps swift and resolute. Blade raised his katana, and with each step, the earth seemed to tremble beneath his feet.
In the blink of an eye, Alex was before Quinn.
"Shing!"
Suddenly, Blade interjected, "Hey, wait up, buddy! I've got something to say to him… no… Whoa…"
Seeing Alex's sword move, Blade thought he had called out too late, but the next moment, his voice turned into an incredulous shout.
The sharp edge of the katana was hovering just above Quinn's throat. With the slightest movement, Quinn would be bloodied, fully turned to dust.
"Thud!"
Having narrowly escaped death, Quinn collapsed to the ground, drenched in cold sweat.
"Whoa, man, you're amazing!" Blade said, walking over, impressed.
"Not much in terms of strength, but you've got an eye for it!"
Alex shrugged, sheathing his katana with fluid precision, the motion so smooth and perfect that Blade couldn't help but be in awe.
"Cool!"
Blade gave an impressed nod before stepping over to Quinn. In one swift motion, Quinn was pinned to the ground.
"…"
Wounded and in pain, Quinn howled angrily in some strange language, likely cursing Blade's family, and possibly even Alex himself…
"Huh?!"
Alex's gaze grew colder, his hand instinctively reaching for his sword hilt. The sharp, lethal glare from his eyes made Quinn freeze in fear, instantly shutting his mouth.
"Hmph, stupid fool!"
Alex scoffed dismissively, retracting his hand from the hilt of his sword.
"Idiot!"
Blade muttered in schadenfreude, glaring at Quinn. "Tell me, where is Fortis?"
"I don't know!"
At Quinn's response, Blade's face immediately darkened. "Quinn, I've been hacking at you for ages. I'm done playing games, but this time, I want to try something new. How about some fire, hmm?"
"You…"
Ignoring Quinn's protests, Blade casually tossed a lighter onto Quinn's body. With a loud "Boom!", Quinn was instantly engulfed in flames, screaming in agony.
Blade didn't spare him a second glance. With a cool smirk, he turned to Alex. "Now, we just wait for him to spill the beans about Fortis' whereabouts."
"Your cool act has no substance behind it!"
Alex silently rolled his eyes, stepping aside to let Blade take charge.
Finding more vampires would be just fine with him. Since Blade was the expert on vampires and seemed so confident, Alex would let him handle this one.
