Summoning Pokémon in Naruto

Chapter 16: Chapter 16 Conspiracy

"Hiruzen, the Uchiha brat should be handed over to me!"

In the Hokage's office, Shimura Danzo glared at Sarutobi Hiruzen, his tone dripping with discontent.

"Can the words of Uchiha Setsuna, the one who once tried to assassinate the previous Hokage, really be trusted?"

Hiruzen sighed internally. When had his old friend become like this? Likely after he himself assumed the role of Hokage.

When Tobirama-sensei was mentioned, Hiruzen's expression grew serious.

"Danzo, don't forget, our sensei wasn't against the Uchiha clan. Do you still remember our friend, Uchiha Kagami?"

Danzo's face shifted, a mix of uncertainty and disdain, before he scoffed. "Kagami was just one man."

"But Uchiha Setsuna has inherited his will," Danzo said with a hint of unease. The power of Uchiha Madara was something only the First Hokage had ever been able to counter.

"What's more, he's growing closer to the future jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails. If he succeeds, are we to face another Nine-Tails calamity in Konoha?"

Danzo's words struck a chord in Hiruzen's heart, as it mirrored one of his own concerns.

But when he recalled Uchiha Hayato's gaze and demeanor, his worries eased slightly. Hayato had already made contributions to Konoha and struck a personal agreement with him.

"Lord Third, I'll lend this instant messenger to the village for now. Once you can manufacture your own, you can return it," Hayato had said cheerfully. He didn't doubt the village's research capabilities. With a ready-made prototype, the instant messenger could quickly be mass-produced—perhaps even with added functionality.

"This is my goodwill. Moreover, if the Third Hokage agrees to my request, I'll gradually introduce more Pokémon to everyone."

A village's collective effort always surpassed that of a single person. With the Second Shinobi War yet to erupt and Orochimaru still a young man pursuing mastery of all jutsu, the idea of steering him from cold-blooded scientist to Pokémon professor seemed intriguing.

"Very well. On behalf of the entire village, I thank you. As long as you do not harm Konoha, the village will ensure neither you nor your friends are harmed," Hiruzen had vowed with resolve.

Now, addressing Danzo, Hiruzen's face turned stern. "I've already made a promise to that child. He is not the kind of person who would harm Konoha."

Hiruzen reached under his desk and produced the instant messenger. "This is what that child entrusted to me. If it can be successfully replicated, our intelligence division will gain a significant advantage."

"According to Hayato, this device allows for four-person video calls. Since our teams are structured in four-member units, it's a perfect fit. Once replicated, the devices will first be allocated to the Anbu," Hiruzen said, fingers intertwined as he pondered.

"Doesn't this prove his loyalty to Konoha?"

Danzo seemed tempted. If this were true, his "Root" division could grow even stronger and achieve much more.

But no, it was still a risk. A power capable of summoning beings from another world was held by an Uchiha. If it couldn't be controlled, Danzo would never feel at ease.

"Hmph, this could very well be something from Kumogakure. The Uchiha might be using it to forge ties with them and raise their status within Konoha," Danzo said, voicing an absurd theory. While the device was advanced, it wasn't so futuristic as to be inconceivable. Considering Kumogakure's strength, such a creation was plausible.

As he spoke, he seemed to convince himself of the possibility.

"Enough, Danzo! Don't you find that ridiculous?" Hiruzen snapped, his hand slamming on the desk with enough force to leave a mark. "Uchiha Hayato is not that kind of person. Do not speak of this again, and I forbid you from making a move against him!"

[T/N: The classic don't touch him, but we know he wont do anything to Danzo.]

Hiruzen knew Danzo had inherited their teacher's darker tendencies. If something posed a threat to the village, Danzo wouldn't hesitate to use extreme measures.

"Hiruzen, you'll regret this!" Danzo shot back, unyielding.

"Danzo, I am the Hokage!" Hiruzen retorted with fierce eyes.

As always, their arguments ended with Danzo leaving in frustration. He turned and left the office, his cloak billowing behind him.

Outside the Hokage Building

"Danzo, what did Hiruzen say?"

Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, members of the Konoha Council, approached him.

"Hmph, what else? He values that Uchiha brat greatly. What's the word from your side? Any response from Shikaku?"

[T/N: I know Shikaku is around Minato's age but hey China.]

Danzo's demeanor had returned to a calm, calculated state, as though he hadn't just been arguing moments ago.

Koharu and Homura exchanged glances before Homura replied. "He said he's only responsible for the village's defense. When it comes to strategy, asking him is futile."

"They say the Nara clan is known for their brains, but I think the Akimichi aren't far behind," Danzo remarked.

"I'll take my leave. Since Hiruzen has discussed this with the Nara clan, I'll see what this Uchiha brat can accomplish," Danzo said before walking away without looking back, his tone unnervingly calm.

Hiruzen stood by the window, watching the trio leave. A sense of unease weighed on him.

"These are troubled times. Border tensions are escalating, and now we have Uchiha Hayato in the mix. Whether he brings fortune or disaster remains to be seen."

"Hayato, I hope you truly can bring peace to Konoha and the shinobi world, as you claim."

In a secluded corner, Danzo allowed a faint smile to creep onto his face. "Let the boy enjoy a few years in the village. Once he graduates, the world outside won't be so kind."

Meanwhile, Uchiha Hayato had no idea what was happening behind the scenes. He had sought the strongest pillar in Konoha, Sarutobi Hiruzen, as his support.

Despite what conspiracy theories painted, the man was a genuine "good guy," not a double-faced politician.

Hayato also noticed Uchiha Setsuna's deliberate gestures of goodwill but couldn't respond in kind. The current delicate harmony in Konoha could shatter if he grew too close to the Uchiha clan, potentially losing the trust he had painstakingly earned from the higher-ups.

His next step was to strengthen ties with other clans in Konoha while improving his own abilities.

The Hyūga heiress, Hinata Ruri, had grown upset with him after their last training session. Oddly, every time she saw him, her face flushed red before she walked away. Hayato found her behavior puzzling but didn't dwell on it.

What mattered more was his entry into Konoha's inner circle. Sarutobi Hideki, Hiruzen's eldest son, had promised to bring Nawaki to visit him next time.

At the moment, Hayato stood in a familiar training ground with Minato, sharing a new idea.
