"Solarys: The Legacy of the Eternals"

Chapter 4: Echoes of the Past

The rain continued to fall heavily, covering the city under a gray mantle. Lyria adjusted Kael's original body on her back, the weight no burden to her. She glanced at him, now inhabiting the mortal body of the young man. Kael walked ahead with purpose, his gaze fixed forward, giving Lyria no room for immediate questions.

LYRIA: (frowning) "Where will I find my vessel?"

KAEL: (calmly) "We'll figure that out soon. For now, carry my original body and follow me. There's a place I want you to see first."

The city was unfamiliar to Lyria, its blend of nature and modern buildings strange to her eyes. As they walked, Kael stopped before a dilapidated building, its facade crumbling with age and neglect. He gestured for her to enter.

LYRIA: (looking around) "What is this place? It feels... heavy."

KAEL: (with a faint smile) "It wasn't always like this. Seventy-nine years ago, this was the epicenter of a plan I crafted to shield this world from a disaster I knew would come. Here, I worked with humans who earned my respect."

LYRIA: (raising an eyebrow) "Humans you trusted? That's not something I hear from you often."

KAEL: (nodding slightly) "Not all are worth it, but a few... they were different. This place was once alive with purpose. Now, it's only a shadow of what it was."

He paused, his gaze lingering on the dust-covered remnants of what once was. Then, he turned to her, his tone shifting to one of urgency.

KAEL: "This is where I entrusted a group of humans with something critical: the dimensional diamonds."

LYRIA: (shocked) "The dimensional diamonds? Those powerful relics from our world? Why would you leave them here, of all places?"

KAEL: (his tone firm) "The Supreme Council wouldn't use them. Their greed and self-preservation blinded them. They intended to save themselves, not our people. I had no choice but to steal the diamonds and bring them here—far from any advanced civilization. No one would think to look for them on this primitive planet."

LYRIA: (processing quickly) "And these humans... they kept them safe?"

KAEL: "For as long as they lived. But their descendants sold the diamonds, unaware of their true nature."

LYRIA: (narrowing her eyes) "And you know all this because...?"

Kael raised his left hand, showing a ring glowing faintly.

KAEL: "When we landed, I activated this ring. It gathers electromagnetic data and updates me on the current state of this world, including the fates of those humans and the diamonds."

LYRIA: (tilting her head) "Then why can't you just use it again to locate everything?"

KAEL: (serious) "I've already used it to teleport us to this country and to gather information. Using it one more time would emit a signal strong enough for this world's technology to detect. Their systems may be primitive, but they're capable of intercepting such signals. We can't risk exposing ourselves."

LYRIA: (thoughtful) "I see. So where are the diamonds now?"

KAEL: "Three are here, in this country, held by the richest families: the Bauman, the Blackmour, and the Veltran families. The remaining four are spread across Europe and the United States."

LYRIA: (smirking slightly) "Knowing you, I'm guessing you have a plan to retrieve them."

KAEL: (with a faint smile) "I do. The heirs of these families all attend the same prestigious university in this country. That will be our entry point."

LYRIA: (crossing her arms) "And what about the angels and demons? They'll notice us the moment we get too involved."

KAEL: "We avoid conflict with them. As long as we don't use our powers or force humans against their will, they won't intervene."

LYRIA nodded, her respect for Kael's strategy growing. He had anticipated every obstacle, leaving little to chance.

KAEL: "For now, let's head to this host's apartment. According to his memories, it's nearby and will serve as our base for the time being."

The two left the abandoned building, stepping into the relentless rain. Despite the downpour, they moved with confidence, blending into the deserted streets. When they arrived at the modest apartment, Lyria carefully placed Kael's original body in a corner, ensuring it was secure.

Inside, the space was simple but functional. Kael sat on the bed, his gaze distant as he mentally mapped out their next steps. Lyria took a seat across from him, her curiosity piqued.

KAEL: "The next phase is infiltration. We'll enroll in the university where the heirs study and position ourselves close to them."

LYRIA: (smirking) "So, we're playing students now? This will be interesting."

KAEL: (meeting her gaze) "We adapt, Lyria. It's the only way we win."

The rain outside intensified, its rhythm a stark contrast to the quiet determination within the room. Their mission had only just begun, but every step forward brought them closer to unraveling the darkness that loomed over both worlds.
