Snowstorm: I'm Super Rich in the Apocalypse

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Comrades-in-Arms

Then, they moved on to the dried food section, which was also essential. Various dried mushrooms, wood ears, kelp, seaweed vermicelli, and various dried shrimps, scallops, and dried seafood. Not only could these stave off hunger, but they could also provide various nutrients.

After purchasing these, they went to the fresh food section to buy all sorts of meat—pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, and fish, starting from scratch, each type no less than 300 pounds. They claimed it was for a rural wedding banquet, so the vendors were happy and gathered together to help them with these items.

There were also slices of lamb and beef and various meatballs which were essential for future hot pot preparations.

Eggs were the most indispensable—2000 eggs each of chicken, duck, and goose eggs, and they also got ten boxes of quail eggs. Gu Pan wasn't sure if the space could accommodate fertilized "fertilized eggs" for hatching, so they got a hundred of those just in case—they could eat them if they didn't hatch, so it wasn't a waste.

Then it was time for fruits and vegetables; they went directly to the wholesale market.

They grabbed a fried chicken fast food meal at the entrance of the market, ordered some more for pickup three hours later, and then entered the wholesale section.

For fruits and vegetables, they didn't fuss over varieties; they bought a bit of everything without caring much about which needed more or less. They liked each type evenly—it was cheaper to buy more of the inexpensive ones and less of the expensive ones, which was very humane and scientific.

After they finished shopping, it was already 3:50 in the afternoon; they hurried to pick up the fried chicken and then rushed back to the shack to receive their goods.

Upon arriving, it wasn't long before the delivery arrived. Not many people lived in these old houses anymore, as many had moved to buy apartments in the city. After all, utilities and heating were not as convenient here, so nobody paid much attention to them.

Once all the goods were moved into the yard and paid for, the delivery folks left. Before leaving, Gu Pan and another person gave them red envelopes and some reminders.

Afterward, Gu Pan stored these items in the space, which could be managed with her mind, so items like rice and oil were neatly organized without taking up space.

Just as she finished, the water delivery arrived, following the same process, but the mineral water was stored in the space while the water tanks here were connected to the house. The two water taps here were both turned on, and by the apocalypse, the water tanks should be full. To prevent the water from overflowing, Lu Ruisheng had installed a safety valve that would automatically close when full. Having worked many years in the renovation industry, he understood these things well, and it was dark again by the time everything was set up.

They went to a food street for dinner, then to a nearby mall, heading straight to an outdoor apparel store where they bought some of the warmest down jackets and best quality rain jackets.

They also bought high-quality sun shirts crucial for survival; such items naturally needed to be of better quality, unlike ordinary clothes where just being good was sufficient.

After all the purchases, they got home after 10 p.m.

They were out early and back late every day; Zhuang Jie would probably not be able to find them.

That night, Lu Ruisheng received a call from a friend; the supplies for extreme survival were all ready, as it happened that a client had just received a new batch of equipment, so he had reserved them all for him to pick up at the Extreme Club tomorrow morning.

The two felt that time was tight the next day, so they planned to set out even earlier, first heading to book several breakfast spots, then to pick up the equipment from their friend, followed by buying gasoline. As long as there was time, they intended to buy more gasoline over the next few days since during the apocalypse, gasoline might be hard to buy even with money. In the afternoon, they planned to go to a used car dealership; they intended to sell their current car and then buy a second-hand Hummer and another modified off-road vehicle.

However, by the end of their conversation, the two of them had a realization—why buy when renting would suffice? They could just rent and not bother returning them when the apocalypse arrived—spending money on purchases would be foolish, wouldn't it?

Having arranged everything, the two lay down; it was even colder tonight, so they turned on the air conditioner and electric blanket.

The next day, they set off immediately upon waking. They ran into Zhuang Jie at the door and bluntly told him that they were going through with the divorce; they did not waste any time, and as Zhuang Jie also couldn't afford to waste time, he quickly went to stock up as well. He had also sold off his properties and rented a warehouse; the items he bought were also essentials for the apocalypse.

Of course, he did not know that the supplies he was stockpiling were all for Gu Pan and Lu Ruisheng as a bridal gift.

Gu Pan and her group arrived first at the breakfast restaurant they frequented, where there were not many people due to the colder weather.

The two entered the restaurant and purchased all the breakfasts available, stating they would return to pick them up in an hour since the shop also needed time to pack.

Afterwards, they went to a more distant location and packed up another breakfast restaurant, rounding up breakfast supplies from a total of three restaurants.

In between, they stopped by a pharmacy and bought a considerable amount of common medicines; with four days left until the apocalypse, they couldn't afford to buy too much at once, as it could possibly cause trouble considering the pharmacy is connected to the police system.

However, they had mentioned that they planned to go on a cross-country road trip and carrying extra medicine was safer, which was an excuse that didn't raise any suspicion.

They also bought some hazmat suits in the pharmacy, but not too many, so the store wouldn't question them.

After collecting their breakfast, they stored it in the cargo van's back, but actually, Gu Pan had already stowed everything away in their special "Space."

Afterwards, the two visited the Extreme Club owned by Lu Ruisheng's friend, Guo Gang, who was Ruisheng's former comrade-in-arms. Although they did not maintain frequent contact, their relationship was good, and Guo Gang had helped them during the previous apocalypse, which Gu Pan would never forget. She and her husband had discussed and decided to send some instant noodles and self-heating rice to him the day before the apocalypse.

Upon arrival, Guo Gang came out to greet them.

They exchanged pleasantries and then entered the building.

One advantage with Guo Gang is that he didn't like to pry into personal matters, so he didn't inquire what Lu Ruisheng intended to do with these supplies and just showed them where things were stored, explaining what was available.

Tents, earthquake and fire rescue kits, rescue lights, climbing ropes, telescopes, oxygen masks, small generators, military shovels, fire protection suits…

Each item was purchased in sets of five, enough for their needs.

Besides these, Guo Gang gave them a huge surprise—biohazard suits and bulletproof vests, items not usually accessible to civilians. Ruisheng didn't bother to inquire further.

After paying, Gu Pan warned Guo Gang, "Brother Guo, I have a friend in the Meteorological Department who let slip that the weather might get even worse and persist for a long time. So, it might be a good idea to stock up on essentials in the next few days in case transport becomes difficult and there's a rush at the supermarkets."

Guo Gang nodded, "The weather indeed is strange. Be careful on the roads."

Ruisheng responded, "Brother Guo, call me if there's anything."

As the weather was getting increasingly gloomy and today was particularly windy and cold, and as they still had a lot to do, they didn't linger and soon said their goodbyes.

After walking a bit farther, Gu Pan stowed everything away in their "Space," and they hurried to a place selling generators, as it was safer to purchase them sooner rather than later.

Along the way, they discussed the potential for gold to extend the duration of stay in the "Space," and so they planned to raid a gold shop as soon as the apocalypse began.

At the generator store, they directly bought ten suitable units stating they were for fieldwork, and purchased enough diesel fuel as well, with the delivery destination still being the old house.
