Chapter 29: Last resort
With some time of preparation, the Foundation used their last resort, bring SCP-105 from other universe. Each thing brought from other universe, was only staying for short time, before being brought to it's original universe, along whatever is touching.
After bringing SCP-105 from other universe, they leaded her to Site-19, to meet SCP-9743. After quite some time traveling, they finally reached Site-19, and went all the way through Floor 1, then again but through Floor 2, and lastly, Floor 3, until reaching SCP-9743's containment chamber.
For their surprise, SCP-9743 rejected SCP-105, while she remained curious, and even worried about the situation, but short later, she got brought back to her original universe.
Dr. Sophia Adler tried to explain SCP-9743 about that SCP-105 was completely fine, and could be possible for him to visit her in her own universe, or bringing her for a moment for both enjoy. But SCP-9743 gave a comment too before closing the door using his magic.
SCP-9743: "No matter from what world, the person you need to be with you, comes from. What only matters are the links and bounds with that person, and the memories... Once you lose that person, the memories are the only remain... And not even that same person from other world can replace itself... It only makes it worse..."
Without any ideas, they continued thinking in what could be possible to do, while the cameras recorded how after continued the time passing, and SCP-9743 now started to also use a knife he made appear with his magic, to open scars he had on his body, and even create new ones.
SCP-9743 didn't demonstrate going to attack the Foundation, but was blaming them directly from what happened, and for everything that happened in the past before that, not holding himself to remind them each time he could.
After few days later, Dr. Adler received the alarm inside SCP-9743's containment chamber, when she went to look, the cameras record showed SCP-9743 left, going to his void, disappearing along the camera of SCP-105.
Incident Report: SCP-9743's Rejection of Alternate SCP-105 and Subsequent Disappearance Event Overview
Following SCP-9743's prolonged state of depression, coupled with self-inflicted harm and emotional detachment, the Foundation implemented a last-resort measure: the temporary introduction of an alternate-universe version of SCP-105 (Iris) to SCP-9743. The hope was that this interaction might spark some form of emotional recovery or rekindle cooperation.
The attempt, however, ended in rejection, and SCP-9743 further withdrew into a state of despair. Days later, SCP-9743 disappeared from containment entirely, retreating to his personal void along with SCP-105's camera.
Timeline of Events
1. Preparation and Arrival of Alternate SCP-105
Utilizing interdimensional technology, the Foundation retrieved an alternate-universe SCP-105. This version of SCP-105 appeared identical in appearance, personality, and abilities to the deceased SCP-105, though her memories and experiences were unique to her universe. She was transported to Site-19 under strict protocols and escorted to SCP-9743's containment chamber on Floor 3.
2. Interaction Between SCP-9743 and Alternate SCP-105
Upon entering the chamber, alternate SCP-105 expressed curiosity and concern, attempting to interact with SCP-9743. SCP-9743 immediately rejected her presence, refusing to engage. His only visible response was a single glance toward her before averting his eyes entirely, his expression unreadable. Alternate SCP-105 appeared confused and disheartened but did not attempt to press further. The allotted time expired, and she was returned to her original universe.
SCP-9743's Response
Dr. Sophia Adler attempted to explain the nature of the experiment to SCP-9743, detailing the possibility of him visiting SCP-105 in her universe or arranging future meetings between the two. SCP-9743's response was firm and definitive. He stated:
"No matter from what world, the person you need to be with you, comes from. What only matters are the links and bounds with that person, and the memories... Once you lose that person, the memories are the only remain... And not even that same person from other world can replace itself... It only makes it worse..."
After delivering this statement, SCP-9743 used his magic to seal his containment door, ending further discussion.
Behavioral Deterioration Post-Event
Self-Harm and Emotional Collapse
SCP-9743 began engaging in frequent acts of self-harm. Using a knife conjured with his magic, he reopened old scars on his body and created new ones. The action seemed ritualistic, possibly an attempt to channel his emotions or punish himself. The wounds caused by his magic did not heal immediately, even with his anomalous regeneration, suggesting he was consciously suppressing his healing abilities.
Blame Toward the Foundation
SCP-9743 continued to verbally express his disdain for the Foundation, blaming them for SCP-105's death, the events of the breach, and his long history of suffering. Despite his hostility, he refrained from making any aggressive moves against Foundation personnel or infrastructure during this period.
Disappearance
1. The Incident
Days after the failed interaction, the alarm inside SCP-9743's containment chamber was triggered. Surveillance footage revealed the following: SCP-9743 silently stood from his bed, conjured a portal to his void, and stepped through. He carried SCP-105's camera with him as he disappeared. The portal closed behind him, leaving no trace of his presence.
2. Recovery Efforts
No means currently exist to force entry into SCP-9743's personal void. All attempts to re-establish contact have failed.
Dr. Sophia Adler's Observations
On SCP-9743's Rejection of Alternate SCP-105
"SCP-9743's rejection of alternate SCP-105 is understandable, given his attachment to the deceased SCP-105. To him, she wasn't just another instance of a person but the person who shared their memories and experiences. The alternate version was merely a painful reminder of what he had lost—a ghost of a relationship that could never be the same."
On His Self-Harm
"The self-inflicted harm suggests he's spiraling further into self-loathing and despair. It's not just grief—it's guilt, anger, and an overwhelming sense of futility. He's lashing out at himself because he believes he failed her and possibly others in his past."
On the Disappearance
"His retreat into his void is both troubling and expected. It's a place where he holds control—a world of his own creation. The fact that he took SCP-105's camera with him underscores how much she meant to him. It's unclear if he'll return, but if he does, I expect his emotional state will be no better than it is now."
Potential Next Steps
Monitoring SCP-9743's Void
Any fluctuations or signs of a portal opening should be monitored closely. His return, whether voluntary or not, must be anticipated.
Avoid Further Emotional Provocation
Avoid introducing alternate-universe versions of SCP-105 or similar experiments. These attempts have only deepened SCP-9743's anguish.
Long-Term Containment Strategy
Research potential methods for entering SCP-9743's void or communicating with him while he remains within it. Explore ways to stabilize his emotional state should he return to containment.
Reassess SCP-9743's Containment Design
Modify containment procedures to account for his recent behavior, including the prevention of self-harm and stricter protocols for emotional triggers.
Final Notes
"SCP-9743's rejection of humanity has reached its peak. His disappearance signals a withdrawal not only from the Foundation but also from the cycle of pain he believes is inevitable. If he does return, it will likely be with even deeper scars—emotional and physical alike. Until then, the Foundation must prepare for the unpredictable."
