Pregnant and Divorced by My Disabled Husband

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 I Want to Acknowledge My Son

Lu Youting was holding Lu Yanbai in his arms and had yet to react when Ye Qingqing rushed over and pushed her away.

"What right do you have to question him! Xiao Bai is like this because of you! That's right, you guessed it correctly, he does have bipolar disorder, and his condition is getting out of control. Now you know, are you satisfied?"

Her words made Jian Si feel as if the world was spinning.

She only knew Xiao Bai had a heart condition, but she hadn't expected that someone so young could also have a mental illness.

How could this have happened?

"Why didn't you list it in the medical history you gave me?"

Lu Youting gently placed Lu Yanbai on the bed and tucked him in, looking at her emotionlessly: "There's a lot that wasn't recorded in the medical history. Do you want me to go through it all with you?"

Jian Si felt her heart skip a beat.

"What else is there?"

A mocking light flashed in Lu Youting's eyes: "He also has asthma. Two years ago, he took his pocket money and a little backpack to secretly run away from home, hoping to find you. But he caught a serious cold on the way. In the end, his life was saved, but he was left with asthma."

Jian Si's legs went weak, and she staggered back a step.

Lu Youting continued: "He also has severe gastritis. Because he missed you, his mother, he couldn't bring himself to eat, which led to gastritis at such a young age."

Every word was an accusation against Jian Si.

As if to say, if it weren't for you, he wouldn't be like this.

After listening, Jian Si couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

What had Xiao Bai been through all these years?

At a time when he needed his mother the most, she hadn't been by his side. She, as a mother, had failed him.

With this thought in mind, she also made a decision in her heart.

A dark shade passed through Lu Youting's inky pupils: "Just do your job. The rest is none of your concern."

Jian Si took a deep breath, her voice trembling: "Lu Youting, I'm sorry…"

Those brief three words caused Lu Youting's imposing frame to jolt sharply.

Before he could recover, Jian Si added: "I might have to break my word!"

Lu Youting narrowed his eyes dangerously: "What are you trying to do?"

Jian Si spoke with the gravity of a major decision: "I want to acknowledge Xiao Bai!"

As soon as she finished talking, the air around them turned cold abruptly.

A tumultuous gloom clouded over Lu Youting's eyes as he spat out fiercely, "You dare!"

Ye Qingqing's palm clenched subconsciously, her nails digging into her flesh, as she spoke indignantly: "Sister, how could you do this? You abandoned Xiao Bai four years ago, and Youting and I finally managed to raise him. Now you suddenly come back wanting to acknowledge your son. What do you think we are?"

Jian Si couldn't be bothered with her and fearlessly met Lu Youting's gaze: "Xiao Bai's illnesses are caused by me, and it is my duty to take care of him until he recovers. Since his greatest wish is to find his mother, why not fulfill it? If the obsession in his heart is gone, his mental condition will improve a lot, and his body will naturally recover better."

Lu Youting hadn't considered this, and suddenly felt somewhat moved.

For Xiao Bai's sake, he was willing to do anything.

Seeing his expression soften, Ye Qingqing gritted her teeth secretly, resentful: "Don't spout nonsense; all this is just your excuse for wanting to take back the child."

Jian Si stared unflinchingly into Lu Youting's eyes, as if waging a psychological battle: "Director Lu, don't you want Xiao Bai to get better quickly? Does it matter so much whether he's with me or with you?"

That statement undoubtedly struck a chord in Lu Youting's heart.

In the end, Lu Youting compromised.

"Fine, I agree, but remember, Xiao Bai is my son. Don't even think about taking him away from me."

Seeing him agree, Jian Si let out a slight sigh of relief.

"Don't worry, I just want Xiao Bai to be healthy. I don't care about the rest."

Ye Qingqing didn't expect Lu Youting to agree so easily. The thought of Jian Si being able to spend day and night with Lu Youting under the guise of caring for the child made her insanely jealous.

"Youting, do you really believe her ridiculous words? She's lying to you."

Lu Youting frowned impatiently and said in a deep voice, "Xiao Bai is fine now, you can go. I'll call you if I need anything."

The message to leave was clear.

Even though Ye Qingqing was extremely reluctant, she did not dare to stay any longer and could only leave unwillingly and resentfully.

Jian Si skillfully conducted a series of examinations on Lu Yanbai.

She found that Xiao Bai's condition was much worse than she had expected.

"His physical condition is not suitable for surgery right now. The most urgent thing is to stabilize his condition first. I will take good care of him in the future and get his health back on track."

Lu Youting looked at the sleeping Lu Yanbai with worry but said nothing.

Jian Si reluctantly stroked his small cheek and said to Lu Youting, "I'm going to prescribe some medicine for him. I'll replace all the prescriptions Ye Qingqing had given before. You stay here and watch him closely, I'll be right back."

After speaking, she returned to her office and replaced all the medicine Lu Yanbai had been using.

The medicines Ye Qingqing had prescribed for Xiao Bai were indeed for heart disease; although effective, they were very strong. Xiao Bai was only four years old; his body could not withstand such aggressive medication for long.

The medicines she prescribed did not work as quickly, but they were relatively milder and more suitable for long-term care.

Many of these medicines were developed in conjunction with her mentor at the research institute in Country A, and they worked very well for treating heart disease. She had gone to great lengths to convince her mentor to supply these medications to their hospital.

But the quantity was limited, and they could only be used by her.

After prescribing the medicine, Jian Si thoroughly went over Lu Yanbai's medical case again, including his manic depression and gastric issues.

Being newly appointed, there was a lot to do, and the hospital had also assigned her some new patients who had just been admitted. Consequently, Jian Si was very busy in the morning and didn't even have time to drink water.

By the time she was done, it was already noon.

Jian Si checked the time and thought that Xiao Bai might be waking up soon. She was about to go and check on him when her phone suddenly rang.

It was a video call from her son.

Considering that it was her son and daughter's first day of school and worried that they might not be adjusting well, she stepped into the hallway to take the call: "Chenbao, Yueyue."

Two small faces crowded into the phone screen.

Jian Sichen and Jian Yue waved excitedly at her: "Mommy, Mommy, are you at the hospital right now? How was work today? Did anyone bully you? Did you see Xiao Bai brother? How is he doing? Is he feeling any better?"

The little ones bombarded her with a flurry of questions.

Jian Si patiently answered each question: "I'm in the hospital right now, everyone is nice to me, no one's bullying me, and I saw Xiao Bai this morning. His condition is not too bad, so don't worry."

She paused before asking, "How do you feel about your first day of class? Were you naughty? Did you listen to the teacher? Can you adapt to the new environment?"

"Mommy, don't worry, we're good!"

Jian Sichen wanted to say more but was pushed aside by Jian Yue.

"Mommy, did you mention me and brother to Xiao Bai? We miss him so much, when can we see him?"

Seeing the longing in her eyes, Jian Si's gaze grew dim.

"It's not the right time yet. When the time comes, I'll let you meet him."

Jian Yue was simple-minded and understood her mother's concerns, nodding her little head: "Okay, I'll wait for your good news."

Jian Sichen pushed Jian Yue aside, finally finding an opportunity to ask, "Mommy, did you see that scumbag dad? Did he bully you?"

Before Jian Si could respond, a commotion suddenly erupted from upstairs.

The quiet VIP ward was once again filled with the sounds of smashing and crashing.

Knowing that Lu Yanbai had woken up and was causing trouble again, Jian Si held her breath and quickly said to the kids, "You two be good and listen in kindergarten. Mommy's a bit busy right now, but I'll make something delicious for you when I get home."
