Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Baby, I am your Mommy
Lu Yanbai's commotion was loud, causing headaches for both doctors and patients.
Jian Si could hear Lu Yanbai's roars from a little distance away, "Everyone get lost, I want to find Mommy. All of you are liars, all of you are big bad guys, I don't want to see you."
Lu Youting had been trying to calm him for a long time and was nearly at his limit when he growled, "Go get Jian Si."
As Lu Ya left the sickroom, he saw Jian Si approaching and immediately sighed in relief, "Lady, please come quickly; the young master is crying for you."
Jian Si didn't notice his form of address as she hurried into the sickroom.
The room was in a mess, the newly inserted IV had been pulled out again, and blood was spurting out, covering the floor and the bed everywhere.
The hard-to-come-by medication from Country A had spilled all over the floor.
Seeing her arrival, Lu Youting stepped back automatically to make space for her.
When Lu Yanbai saw her, he paused in the act of throwing a water glass, then turned and threw it directly at her.
Jian Si didn't dodge; her eyes were filled with nothing but Lu Yanbai, as she stepped closer to him.
The water glass brushed past her leg and shattered on the ground.
"You're not my Mommy, what are you doing here? Go away, I don't want to see you, I only want my Mommy! I don't need someone who just looks exactly like her."
For two years, he had searched for his mother time and again, only to be disappointed each time.
He had thought it impossible to ever reunite with his mother in this lifetime and had almost given up.
But the moment he saw Jian Si yesterday, he seemed to see hope again, reviving his once-despairing heart, even more intensely than before.
He wanted to see his Mommy.
Desperately wanted to see her.
It was like a dying patient who desperately wants to see their loved ones one last time.
Thinking about how Lu Yanbai had looked for her unknowingly and faced disappointment again and again at such a young age, bearing pains he shouldn't have, brought tears to Jian Si's eyes.
As Lu Yanbai picked up another object to throw, she finally choked up and spoke.
"Xiao Bai, I am your Mommy, Jian Si. Be good, listen to me, give me what's in your hands. Mommy doesn't want to see you like this."
Hearing the word 'Mommy,' Lu Yanbai visibly flinched, his little face flashing with various emotions.
Bewilderment, helplessness, surprise, and finally anger. He threw the object in his hand at Jian Si without hesitation, shattering it by her feet.
Pieces scraped past Jian Si's calves and ankles, and blood immediately seeped from the wounds.
Yet, she felt no pain at all, her entire attention on Lu Yanbai.
Lu Yanbai raised a vase high, threatening her, "You liar, trying to trick me again; I won't be fooled. Go away, or I'll smash it on you."
Jian Si took out her ID card from her pocket, which she had prepared earlier, and handed it to him, "Look, this is my ID card, the name is Jian Si, not Jian Ning. Your great-grandfather must have told you your Mommy's name, right?"
Lu Yanbai instinctively looked at the name on the ID card.
Indeed, his great-grandfather had told him that his mother's name was Jian Si.
Simple 'Jian,' longing 'Si.'
And it was the first name he had learned to write, not Lu Yanbai, not Lu Youting.
So, he could not mistake these two words.
This was Jian Si.
The name of his biological mother.
Lu Yanbai's expression softened notably, "Since you're my Mommy, why won't you acknowledge me? Why lie to me?"
Lu Youting's pupils shrank sharply, dangerously peering at Jian Si like a fierce beast lurking in the shadows, ready to tear her apart and devour her if she dared to reveal the truth.
Jian Si crouched down to be level with Lu Yanbai, looking at him tenderly, "Mommy was just playing a joke with you. Didn't I already admit yesterday in the parking lot that you're my son? I didn't know you'd be this upset. I'm sorry, Mommy was wrong. Can you forgive Mommy?"
Her submissive words disarmed the naive Lu Yanbai of all his defenses.
"Are you really my Mommy?"
Jian Si nodded with tear-filled eyes, "I truly am your Mommy, Mommy is back. Mommy has missed you so much these years, my baby. I'm so sorry."
"The word 'sorry' deeply stabbed Lu Yanbai's fragile heart.
Tears gradually gathered in his watery big eyes.
Jian Si knew the timing was ripe, slowly reached out to take the vase he was holding high, gently placed it on the ground, and after the vase was completely out of danger, she stretched out her arms towards Lu Yanbai.
"Xiao Bai, come, let Mommy hug you."
Seeing his mother, whom he had longed for every day since he could remember, Lu Yanbai couldn't hold back anymore and burst into her arms, crying aloud, releasing years of longing.
"Mommy, Xiao Bai missed you so much, you're finally back."
Jian Si couldn't help but cry with him.
Mother and son clung tightly to each other, afraid of losing each other again.
The scene moved even Lu Ya, who couldn't help but get teary-eyed, sniffing hard, and inadvertently caught Lu Youting beside him with red corners in his eyes, immediately staring wide-eyed in surprise.
Caught in an awkward moment by his assistant, Lu Youting shot him a cold look.
Lu Ya immediately averted his gaze, not daring to look any longer.
Watching Xiao Bai and Jian Si reunite, Lu Youting felt a mix of emotions and suddenly regretted all the obstacles he had put in their way.
If he had found Jian Si earlier, would Xiao Bai's illness not have become so severe?
For the first time, he questioned his own decisions.
After Jian Si hugged Lu Yanbai and cried for a while, worrying that crying too much might hurt his body, she took a breath, lifted him from the ground to the bed, and gently wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes, "The injection was prescribed by Mommy, will you accept the treatment nicely? Mommy will be with you every day from now on, making you delicious food. Let's get our health back together so we can always be together."
Regardless of whether this promise would be kept.
But the priority was to stabilize Lu Yanbai's emotions and help him recover quickly.
The rest could wait.
As long as Jian Si didn't leave, Lu Yanbai agreed to everything, nodding obediently like a docile little bunny, "Mmm! Xiao Bai will listen to Mommy."
Jian Si immediately made a gesture to Lu Youting.
Understanding her cue, Lu Youting whispered instructions to Lu Ya.
Soon after, the nurse arrived with a new IV.
"I'll do it!" Jian Si took the IV from the nurse, giving Lu Yanbai a gentle smile, "I'll personally administer your IV, Mommy's not very skilled, it might hurt a bit, so be a good boy and don't move."
At this moment, Lu Yanbai felt so sweet inside that he hardly cared about the pain, nodding eagerly.
"I'm not afraid of the pain, just go ahead, I'm willing to be your guinea pig."
Jian Si, relieved, patted his head. Because of frequent injections, there wasn't a single unmarked spot on Lu Yanbai's hands.
Seeing the various needle marks and bruises all over the back of his hands, Jian Si's heart pinched with a pang.
After searching for a while, she found a small vein deep under the skin, secured its position, tied a tourniquet, disinfected with iodine, and finally inserted the IV.
One stick, blood flashed.
All movements flowed smoothly.
A teaching template.
Normally, the little one who would scream at the sight of needles was unusually quiet today, his glistening big eyes never leaving Jian Si from start to finish, afraid she would disappear in the blink of an eye.
After the IV was in, the unfinished medication was wasted.
Jian Si had no choice but to go back to her office to prescribe it again.
The little one, afraid Jian Si wouldn't return, clung tightly to her, insisting on accompanying her to the office.
Knowing his insecurity, Jian Si let him.
When Lu Yanbai appeared in the office clinging to Jian Si, the doctors in the office widened their eyes, incredulous.
Especially Ye Qingqing.
Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, the redness in her eyes almost violent, wishing she could kill Jian Si. Willingly donating her own bone marrow.
