Pokémon: Champion’s Story

Chapter 5: Viridian Forest (End)

The forest thickened as Alex and Litleo continued their journey. The air was cooler now, carrying the faint scent of moss and damp earth. With each step, the realization grew—this trek would take longer than expected.

Wild Pokémon weren't about to make it easy.

A sudden rustling in the bushes drew Alex's attention. From the shadows emerged a Beedrill and a pair of Caterpie, their sharp eyes gleaming in the faint moonlight.

"Looks like we're not resting yet," Alex muttered, adrenaline sharpening his senses. "Litleo, get ready!"

Litleo stepped forward, its fiery mane glowing faintly as it growled at the oncoming Pokémon.

Beedrill darted forward with blinding speed.

"Quick! Dodge and use Headbutt!" Alex commanded.

Litleo ducked under the Beedrill's stinger, then lunged upward, its head colliding with the Bug-type. Beedrill buzzed furiously, reeling from the impact.

The Caterpie followed with String Shot, trying to slow Litleo down.

"Burn through it with Ember!" Alex shouted.

Litleo exhaled a burst of fire, burning away the sticky webbing and hitting one Caterpie directly. It fainted on the spot.

Beedrill, enraged, went for another strike with Fury Attack.

"Counter with Flame Charge!"

Litleo dashed forward, flames engulfing its body. The fiery charge collided with Beedrill midair, knocking it out of the fight.

The remaining Caterpie trembled but shot another String Shot.

"Finish it with Bite!"

Litleo darted forward, its sharp fangs clamping down on the Caterpie. The small Pokémon fainted instantly.

All Opponents Fainted. Litleo Wins!

EXP Gained.

Not long after, Alex encountered a wild Mankey blocking the path. Its stance was aggressive, fists raised as it growled.

Alex smirked. "A Fighting-type, huh? Let's see what you've got! Litleo, you ready?"

Litleo roared, stepping forward confidently.

Mankey charged with Low Kick.

"Dodge and counter with Flame Charge!"

Litleo sidestepped the attack and rushed forward, its fiery body slamming into the Mankey. The wild Pokémon staggered but quickly retaliated with Scratch, landing a hit on Litleo's flank.

"Shake it off! Use Noble Roar!"

Litleo let out a powerful, intimidating roar. Mankey hesitated, its attack power weakened.

"Now, Headbutt!"

Litleo charged forward, colliding with Mankey's torso. The Fighting-type staggered before collapsing.

Mankey Fainted. Litleo Wins!

EXP Gained.

As Alex and Litleo pressed on, the battles weighed on his mind. He glanced at Litleo, who walked beside him, its fiery spirit undiminished.

"You're incredible, Litleo," Alex said softly. "But we're going to need more teammates if we want to keep this up."

His thoughts drifted to potential team members. "We're taking the elite route," he decided. "No Pokémon with potential less than Elite. That way, we'll be unstoppable."

Alex considered the gaps in his team. "We need a Water-type for coverage, a Flying-type for versatility, and maybe something with Psychic or Dark moves for strategic depth. And... a Dragon-type like Dratini is a game-changer."

As he thought, the dull glow of the Trainer's Charm around his neck caught his eye. It had been inactive since the Dratini encounter.

"System," Alex whispered, "why is the Trainer's Charm dull now?"

The system responded promptly.

Trainer's Charm: Deactivated. Recharge in progress. Time remaining: Unknown.

He sighed. "Guess we'll have to wait for more rare encounters."

Alex and Litleo finally found a clearing to rest. Exhausted, Alex leaned against a tree, his eyes heavy. Litleo curled up beside him, radiating warmth.

Sleep didn't come easily. The forest buzzed with the sounds of nocturnal Pokémon, and Alex's mind churned with thoughts of the journey ahead.

When dawn finally broke, Alex stretched, his muscles stiff from the cold ground. Litleo yawned, its fiery mane catching the morning light.

After a quick breakfast of Fire-type food for Litleo and a protein bar for Alex, they packed up and continued their journey toward Pewter City.
