Chapter 4: Viridian Forest ( Battle for Dratini)
The chase had begun. Alex and Litleo sprinted along the riverbank, the rush of the water matching the pounding of his heart. His thoughts were a whirlwind, and every step felt crucial.
The elusive Dratini an Elite Potential Pokémon was within reach, but not for long. Alex could only hope that the rare Pokémon wouldn't slip away before they caught up.
"Stay close, Litleo!" Alex shouted, glancing over his shoulder. The fire-type Pokémon ran after him, its mane ablaze with determination.
They navigated through thick shrubs and around large rocks, but despite their speed, the Dratini was always just ahead of them.
Its sleek body darted effortlessly through the water, keeping just out of reach. Alex knew he couldn't lose it.
Alex spotted the faintest ripples in the water as they rounded a bend in the river. The Dratini was ahead he could feel it.
"Litleo, use Flame Charge to speed us up!" Alex called.
Litleo's mane flared up as it sprinted forward, flames surging around it. The Fire-type Pokémon gained ground, closing in on the elusive Dratini.
But just as they neared, the Dratini dove under the water again, slipping out of sight.
Alex cursed under his breath, but he refused to give up. "We'll catch it! Keep going!"
Suddenly, the sound of rustling in the bushes interrupted his thoughts.
A wild Pidgey flew out, its wings flapping erratically. The sudden appearance of the bird caught Litleo's attention, forcing Alex to act fast.
"Ember, Litleo!" Alex shouted, snapping his focus back to the battle.
The burst of flames struck Pidgey mid-flight, sending it tumbling to the ground.
"Tackle, Litleo, finish it!" Alex called, his voice firm.
Litleo charged, slamming into the wild Pidgey, knocking it out cold. With a cry, Pidgey fainted.
Pidgey Fainted. Litleo Wins!
EXP Gained.
But there was no time to celebrate. They couldn't afford any distractions. Alex kept his eyes on the water, where the ripples continued to swirl.
Without warning, a weeddle appeared from the underbrush, hissing as it scurried toward Litleo. It seemed to have appeared from nowhere, but Alex wasn't about to let it stop them.
"Litleo, Bite it!" Alex commanded.
Litleo pounced, its fangs sinking into Weedle's soft body. The wild Pokémon screeched before fainting from the attack.
Weedle Fainted. Litleo Wins!
EXP Gained.
"Focus, Litleo! We're almost there!" Alex said, his breath coming in quick gasps. The chase wasn't over yet.
As they continued sprinting, the air around them shifted. The atmosphere became charged, as if the very forest was holding its breath. It felt like they were getting closer. The moment they'd been chasing had arrived.
Suddenly, the water ahead rippled again. This time, Dratini didn't flee. Instead, it lingered just beyond the edge of the river, watching them with intense eyes. Alex felt the tension rise. He could see the rare Pokémon now, closer than ever.
Litleo growled softly, ready to fight.
Alex stood tall, steadying his breath. "It's time."
The Dratini's piercing gaze met his, and for a moment, it seemed to evaluate him. Alex wasn't sure what changed, but Dratini's stance shifted. It was no longer running—now, it was ready to battle.
Wild Pokémon Detected!
Pokémon: Dratini (Elite Potential)
Battle Initiated!
The system's voice echoed in Alex's mind, and he felt the adrenaline spike once again.
Dratini moved with grace, its body coiling and uncoiling like a serpent. It looked poised for battle, waiting for Alex's first move.
"Litleo, let's show it what we've got! Use Flame Charge!" Alex commanded.
Litleo dashed forward, flames blazing around its body, but Dratini quickly reacted.
With remarkable speed, Dratini dodged, its long, flexible body twisting out of the way.
The system chimed again, displaying Dratini's Elite Potential.
Elite Potential: Dratini is an exceptional Pokémon with unparalleled growth potential.
Alex's heart raced. This was it. This battle would decide everything. He had to be smart.
"Ember!" Alex shouted.
Litleo launched a stream of fire at Dratini, but the Water/Dragon-type Pokémon reacted with impressive agility. Dratini darted to the side, its tail leaving a trail of water behind as it swiftly moved across the riverbank.
"Litleo, Work Up to boost your power!" Alex called, knowing that they needed to be more prepared.
Litleo took a deep breath, flames flickering as its power increased. Alex could feel the momentum shifting.
Dratini struck next, using Dragon Rage. A blast of intense energy shot out from Dratini's mouth, slamming into Litleo and pushing it back several steps.
"Litleo, hold on! Use Bite!" Alex commanded through gritted teeth.
Litleo gritted its teeth and lunged, sinking its fangs into Dratini's scales. The Elite Pokémon let out a sharp cry but stayed firm, its determination clear.
Dratini then retaliated, its Wrap technique coiling around Litleo with shocking strength. Litleo struggled to break free, but Alex could see that Litleo was starting to grow exhausted.
"Hang in there, Litleo! We've got this!" Alex shouted, refusing to back down.
With one final burst of energy, Litleo broke free of Dratini's coils, taking a deep breath before charging forward.
"Tackle, Litleo! Give it everything!"
Litleo slammed into Dratini, knocking the serpentine Pokémon back with force. For a moment, it seemed like Dratini might give in, but it wasn't ready to be defeated just yet.
Dratini's eyes glinted with resolve. It was clear that it was waiting for the right moment to strike back.
"Get ready for the final blow, Litleo!" Alex yelled.
Dratini reared back and, with a roar, unleashed a dragon pulse a powerful wave of energy that surged toward Litleo.
The flames surrounding Litleo flared up, and with an intense roar, it countered the blast with a surge of fire.
The two attacks collided, creating a massive explosion of energy. When the smoke cleared, both Pokémon were standing, breathing heavily. But Litleo's determination shone through. The Fire-type Pokémon had taken the brunt of Dratini's attack, but it refused to fall.
"Ember one last time!" Alex shouted.
Litleo summoned the last of its strength, firing a final burst of flames toward Dratini. The Fire-type move struck true, knocking the Elite Pokémon off its feet and into the dirt. Dratini lay still for a moment before it slowly lifted its head, a silent challenge in its eyes.
It was ready to be caught.
Alex's heart raced, his fingers trembling as he reached for a Pokéball. "Let's do this…"
With a quick toss, the Pokéball flew through the air, encapsulating Dratini in a flash of red light. The ball hit the ground and began to shake. Once, twice… and then a soft click.

Alex dropped to his knees, breathing heavily with exhilaration. He'd done it. He had caught Dratini, and with it, his journey had taken a monumental step forward.
