Pokémon: Champion’s Story

Chapter 6: Pewter City

The forest gave way to a well-worn path, and the towering trees soon transitioned into the stone walls of Pewter City. The city's quiet charm was a stark contrast to the wilderness Alex and his Pokémon had grown used to. As he stepped through the city gates, his heart swelled with pride and excitement.

The system chimed in his mind.

Achievement Unlocked: First City Reached!

Rewards:

1x Potential Increase Card100,000 Poké Dollars

"What's a Potential Increase Card?" Alex wondered aloud. The system's voice responded.

Explanation:

The Potential Increase Card allows a trainer to elevate a Pokémon's potential by one rank. This card can help your Pokémon achieve greater growth, battle capability, and evolution potential.

Alex's eyes lit up. "So, it can make a Pokémon with Elite potential into a Champion, or even take a Champion to Divine?" He grinned at the possibilities. "This will be useful for building my dream team."

A Visit to the Pokémon Center

Alex made his way to the Pokémon Center, the automatic doors sliding open to reveal the welcoming interior. Nurse Joy greeted him with a warm smile.

"Welcome to the Pewter City Pokémon Center. How can I help you?"

Alex handed over his Pokéballs. "Litleo's had a tough time battling, and Dratini's still recovering from an earlier fight. Please take care of them."

Nurse Joy nodded. "We'll make sure they're treated properly. Feel free to explore the city while we work on your Pokémon."

Pewter City buzzed with activity. The main street was lined with shops and stands selling everything from berries to souvenirs. Alex stopped at a Pokémon supply store to stock up on essentials.

He loaded his basket with items:

6x Potions

8x Antidotes

6x Super Potions

12 servings of Fire-type food

12 servings of Dragon-type food

After purchasing the supplies, Alex paused by a bulletin board outside. Flyers for upcoming tournaments, trainer tips, and Gym details covered the surface. One flyer caught his attention:

Pewter Gym: Rock-type Specialist. Leader: Brock. Challengers Welcome.

Alex smirked. "Dratini's Water Pulse should handle this. It's the perfect opportunity to strengthen our bond and raise its level."

As evening fell, Alex returned to the Pokémon Center. Nurse Joy handed back his Pokéballs with a smile. "Your Pokémon are fully healed. They're in great shape."

"Thank you!" Alex replied, clipping the balls to his belt.

Before leaving, Alex rented a room upstairs in the center. The room was cozy, with a single bed, a desk, and a small window overlooking the city. A Pokéball charging station sat in the corner, and a basket of basic Pokémon snacks was provided. Alex placed his bag down, setting the Pokémon food on the desk.

Once inside, Alex released Litleo and Dratini. The two Pokémon stretched, their energy restored. Alex set out food for them Fire-type kibble for Litleo and a rich, fish-based Dragon-type meal for Dratini.

As they ate, Alex knelt beside Litleo. "Tomorrow, we're taking on the Pewter Gym, but I've decided to use Dratini for this one."

Litleo paused mid-bite, his ears flattening slightly. He let out a soft growl, clearly disappointed.

Alex ruffled Litleo's mane gently. "Hey, I know you're ready to fight, and you've been amazing. But Dratini needs this. It's new to the team, and we need to build its strength and trust. You've already proven how strong you are, and I know you'll be cheering us on."

Litleo's growl softened, though his eyes still held a hint of frustration. Alex chuckled. "How about this? After the Gym battle, we'll train extra hard together, just you and me. Deal?"

Litleo gave a small huff but finally nodded, finishing his food with renewed determination.

Dratini watched the exchange quietly, coiling and uncoiling itself as if sensing the weight of the moment. Alex glanced over at it. "We're counting on you tomorrow, buddy. Let's show Brock what we're made of."

Dratini's sapphire eyes gleamed as it nodded in agreement.
