Chapter 7: Chapter 7
After defeating the last pirate minion, Charlotte's once scarlet eyes cleared, and her former spirit returned. The endless, domineering arrogance also vanished with it.
Alex Jesse stood up, feeling the pressure lifting from his body. He looked at Charlotte with fear in his eyes.
"You! Who the hell are you?"
Alex Jesse smiled.
"My name is Rockefeller Charlotte!"
Charlotte, now feeling relieved and freed from the pressure, smiled. The weight that had been suppressing her was finally released, bringing her immense satisfaction.
She glanced at the pirate captain, raised her sword, and spoke.
"You will be the first step in my journey across the seas!"
Charlotte's eyes glimmered with infinite confidence as she spoke.
"Damn it! You brat, stop bragging! I will make you pay for my crew!"
Alex Jesse roared and charged at Charlotte with a large knife in his hand.
Charlotte kept her gaze fixed on him.
Clang!
A loud metallic crash rang out as Charlotte blocked Alex Jesse's full swing with one hand. With a swift motion, she sent his knife flying.
In the blink of an eye, Charlotte swung her sword, leaving a long wound across Alex Jesse's chest.
"Ah~!"
Screaming, Alex Jesse fell to the ground, his chest bleeding profusely.
Alex Jesse staggered to his feet, glaring fiercely at Charlotte. Then, he threw his large knife aside.
Just when Charlotte thought he was about to surrender, Alex Jesse shouted,
"Ah! You forced me to do this!"
With a roar, Alex Jesse's body began to swell, undergoing a tremendous transformation.
"Roar!"
Alex Jesse opened his bloody mouth and charged at Charlotte.
"A Devil Fruit user?"
Charlotte was briefly taken aback. She hadn't expected this pirate to be a Devil Fruit user. It appeared that he was an ordinary Animal-type user.
"That's right, I'm Alex Jesse, the Bear, captain of the Bear Pirates!"
The enormous black bear growled, addressing Charlotte. The wound on his chest was rapidly healing.
Charlotte was impressed by the sight.
"As expected from the Animal type—such remarkable healing abilities. But don't think that a Devil Fruit alone can defeat me!"
Charlotte flicked the blood from her sword and spoke confidently.
Without hesitation, she rushed toward him in one swift stride.
The sword gleamed as it slashed toward his neck.
However, the wild bear, Alex Jesse, did not back down. He raised his massive paws and slapped at Charlotte.
The force of their collision was immense. Charlotte was pushed back by the tremendous strength, but her sword barely cut through the bear's thick skin.
"Roar!"
Seeing that Charlotte could not break through his defense, Alex Jesse's confidence soared. He charged forward, his massive body barreling at her.
Charlotte quickly blocked with a horizontal sword.
Bang!
Crack!
Charlotte was knocked back several steps. Her sword shattered from the impact.
Alex Jesse laughed triumphantly, his voice booming.
"Kahahahahaha! Brat, let's see how you survive without your sword!"
"It seems you haven't mastered swordsmanship yet?"
Charlotte looked at the hilt of her broken sword, shrugged, and threw it aside. She cracked her neck and prepared for a fistfight.
"It looks like it's time for hand-to-hand combat!"
Charlotte's fiery gaze met Alex Jesse's, and with a swift movement, she jumped more than ten meters in an instant, landing in front of the wild bear and delivering a punch.
Bang!
Alex Jesse was knocked back, clearly stunned. Charlotte, emitting hot white steam from her body, was clearly serious now.
She wasted no time. As Alex Jesse staggered, Charlotte closed in again, delivering a punch to his jaw.
The wild bear had no chance to defend himself. Blood poured from his mouth, and something strange mixed with the blood.
It was only then that the wild bear realized—his own tongue had been torn off.
The force of the punch sent Alex Jesse flying into the air.
Charlotte followed up by leaping above him, landing a vicious whip kick on his head.
The force of the kick was like a mountain crashing down, and it sent the wild bear crashing into the sea.
As a Devil Fruit user, the sea was his greatest enemy.
Charlotte's strike sent Alex Jesse back to his original form.
Diving into the sea, Charlotte retrieved the unconscious Alex Jesse, grabbed a long knife from the ground, and swung it at his head.
With a swift motion, the head was severed, and blood splattered everywhere.
Charlotte hoisted Alex Jesse's severed head and hung it from the flagpole.
The battle ended swiftly, but the scene was chaotic.
Whether killed by Charlotte or stunned by her conqueror's haki, the pirates lay unconscious in the crowded port.
Charlotte didn't care when they would wake up.
After hanging the wild bear's head, Charlotte walked towards the three pirate ships docked nearby.
He wanted to see if there were any valuable items on board. If there was a Devil Fruit, he'd take it.
No matter what kind of Devil Fruit it was, it could be sold for 20 million. A powerful one could go for more than a dozen billion.
However, Charlotte's expectations were too high.
After searching all three pirate ships, he found nothing but a meager 1,000,000 Baileys and over seventy slaves locked in the hold, about to be sold.
Charlotte was surprised when he sensed weak auras coming from the cabin.
It was as if the people had gone days without eating.
As Charlotte entered the cabin, he found it filled with tattered clothes and frail, emaciated figures sitting silently in the dim light.
"Who are you?"
When Charlotte's voice echoed in the cabin, someone looked up, their gaze fixed on the strange figure at the entrance.
A young man, covered in blood, stood at the threshold.
The others recoiled in fear.
Charlotte scanned the room but received no reply.
Frustrated, he turned to leave.
"Wait, my lord!"
A panicked female voice rang out.
Charlotte turned, immediately recognizing the speaker despite the darkness.
He turned back to the girl and waited for her response.
"My lord! We are from the Kingdom of Kakna. After our kingdom was raided by the Bear Pirates, we were taken as slaves. Please, save us!"
