Chapter 234: Chapter 235: Brook’s Second Life
After hearing this, the fanatical eyes of these people cooled down a little.
However, Shin's ability may seem somewhat inferior to the random fusion of Devil Fruits, but in reality, it is already extremely powerful.
For example, with ordinary Zoan-type Devil Fruits, fusing two together would result in a power level not much weaker than that of an Ancient Zoan. If four or five were fused, the result could rival even a Mythical Zoan.
Because of this, a flicker of excitement appeared in the eyes of both Ulti and Page One.
"Captain Shin, can I..." Ulti hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"I know what you mean. You want to hunt Devil Fruit users?" Shin stated directly. "If you want to go, then go ahead. Just make sure you capture only those who possess Devil Fruit abilities."
"But remember—only target pirates or those who attack the Navy. I think you all understand my principles. If you bring ordinary civilians here... don't blame me for being harsh on you."
Of course, what Shin said was more of a precaution. In reality, most people who consumed Devil Fruits had ambitions beyond living an ordinary life.
When Luffy was in the East Blue, seeing a Devil Fruit user was a rarity. Yet, in the second half of the Grand Line, nearly every notable pirate possessed a Devil Fruit, illustrating how common they were among major figures.
Now, in this world, those who consumed Devil Fruits were typically either part of the Navy or pirates. Few chose the path of an ordinary life.
"Okay! Don't worry about that." Ulti grinned, clearly delighted. Shin continued, "If the Devil Fruit you acquire isn't compatible with you, you can also bring them here. That would be considered your contribution."
Ulti agreed without hesitation. As captain, Shin had every right to claim a share of the loot—it was only natural.
Shin then turned his gaze to Kyros. "Would you like a Devil Fruit? If you're interested, you can seek out users yourself."
Kyros shook his head. "There aren't many Devil Fruits suited for swordsmen, so I'll pass."
Pure swordsmen like him rarely used Devil Fruits. They believed in their swordsmanship, and the number of Devil Fruits that complemented swordplay was limited. Although Kyros' swordsmanship wasn't entirely traditional, his passion for the blade was evident.
Of course, if Shin presented him with a particularly powerful Devil Fruit, he might struggle to resist temptation. But actively hunting for one? That wasn't his way.
Shin nodded, saying no more. As for Violet, her Devil Fruit was unique, making it difficult to find a compatible ability. And since Violet was an extremely useful navigator, Shin had no intention of letting her leave. Who else would navigate if she left? At most, he would keep an eye out for any suitable Devil Fruits for her.
Meanwhile, Moria, Perona, and the others were looking at him expectantly. Shin pretended not to notice. He wasn't some benevolent benefactor—why should he help them just because he had taken their Devil Fruits? He had plundered many Devil Fruits. Why should they be special?
Instead, he turned to Brook and asked, "Brook, do you want to experience a true resurrection?"
"Yo ho ho ho ho! Are you planning to fuse a Human-Human Fruit for me, Captain Shin? But if you extract my Revive-Revive Fruit, I might just collapse into a pile of bones… Though I already am just bones." Brook scratched his afro and laughed.
"No, I'm not fusing a Devil Fruit." Shin shook his head. "I will use my transformation ability to restore your flesh—a true revival."
Brook froze. "Can that really be done? If I regain my body, the first thing I'll do is enjoy a grand meal! Wait… if I'm resurrected, won't I be over a hundred years old? Won't I just turn into an old man?"
"Ha, even if you're over a hundred, it's better than being a talking skeleton, right?" Charlotte Pudding commented sarcastically. "If you didn't die as a person make bones, why would you die of old age once revived?"
"That makes sense!" Brook nodded. "Then, Captain Shin, please bring my body back! Whether it works or not, I'll be grateful."
Hearing this, Shin nodded and stretched out his hand. A swirl of black mist enveloped Brook, pulling him into the dark space. Then, Shin activated his Munch-Munch Fruit ability. Moments later, a middle-aged man with an afro appeared before everyone.
Brook hesitated, then touched and patted his body before suddenly bursting into tears. "It's real! I'm truly resurrected! Woohoo! I'm alive!"
Shin, however, ignored Brook's emotional outburst and focused on the skull-shaped Revive-Revive Fruit now in his hand. A surge of excitement filled his eyes.
The Revive-Revive Fruit didn't hold much immediate benefit for Shin, but it possessed a special ability he had long coveted—the power to communicate with the underworld.
In the past, when Brook died, his soul drifted into the underworld before returning to seek his body. This was entirely different from the Revive-Revive Fruit's ability, which directly resurrected its user's body after death.
And if he could communicate with the underworld, then many forbidden jutsu might become possible.
For example, techniques like the Reanimation Jutsu, the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, and the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique were all deeply tied to the structure of the ninja world. Using them in a different world was likely impossible.
Shin had never attempted the latter two techniques, but he had once tried using the Reanimation Jutsu after arriving in this world—without success.
However, with the Revive-Revive Fruit in his possession, he could try again. If he succeeded, he would no longer fear the numbers advantage of the World Government.
After all, the World Government had ruled the seas for 800 years, accumulating the hatred of countless people over that time. Any pirate would naturally oppose them.
Even outside of pirates, non-affiliated nations had warriors like the legendary Dragon Slayer Ryuma—figures who were unquestionably hostile to the World Government.
If he could use the Reanimation Jutsu, then even without controlling the revived warriors, they would naturally become his allies.
