Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Days Pass, Days Learned
=-Day 2-=
Waking up to a spider the size of my torso crawling onto me made me realize two things: one, I wasn't in my own world and the other, there was a giant fucking spider. "Kyaa!" Driven by sheer panic, I sat up from my laying position and slammed my clenched fist into its body.
Squelch
Crack
I stared blankly at the thick bluish green blood on my hand, which had torn through the spider and cracked the ground beneath it. I raised my other hand to my face, feeling the blood splatter. "G-Gross!" I paled, then turned and threw up as the adrenaline wore off. "R-Right... everything's big here." I looked at my stained hand and grimaced, wiping the blood onto my shorts. I almost jumped as the System sounded.
*Ding!*
[Quest: "Don't die on ? Island" has changed its reward!]
I blinked before sighing. "I didn't even know what the reward was to begin with…" I turned toward the spider's corpse, which I could've sworn twitched before I started reading the survival guide to see if there was anything about food and water. As expected, I found something.
"Find a running source of water and boil it. Avoid salt water."
I frowned, expecting more before moving on to the food section. I grimaced when I looked over at the giant spider again.
"If in a situation with no choice, eat insects but be wary."
I grabbed one of its legs that had popped off when I smashed it. It was as thick as my thumb. "S-So gross…" I closed my eyes and took a bite. As my teeth broke through the hairs of the leg, the juices dripped from my mouth. I almost wretched at the texture but noticed the flavor.
"Blegh!"
I threw up and cried in a corner for the rest of the day, reading the survival guide until I fell asleep.
=-Day 3-=
"This was a bad idea! This was a stupid fucking idea!" I ran from the rabbit I had found while searching for fruits near the outskirts of the forest. I thought that since it hadn't run away from me, I could sneak up on it and smack it on the head, just like I did with the spider.
"I'm sorry mister rabbit!" I turned my head as I ran, almost wetting myself. The rabbit that was going to be my first meal had teeth that looked like they belonged to a shark.
"F-Forget me, I was just hungry!"
The monstrosity ignored my pleas and kept chasing me around the beach. I briefly noted that I was able to run much longer than I had before coming to this crazy world. 'Must be the Restriction- God, why have you left me?'
I tripped over a rock and faceplanted into the hot sand. As I scrambled to get up, I froze as I rose my head. The freakish rabbit was right in front of me.
"N-Nice rabbit—"
It started urinating on me, then left.
'I'm going to kill that fucking thing before I die. Mark. my. words.'
=-Day 4-=
"You seem slower today mister rabbit!" I taunted as I ran from the rabbit. I could hear the snapping of its mouth and felt cold sweat forming on the back of my neck, but I pushed through.
'Almost there—Oh, it's there... Oh shit!'
I jumped over where my trap was laid and skidded to a stop on the sand, turning to see the rabbit land on the moss and leaves. I waved just as the trap sprang and the false floor collapsed under the weight of the rabbit, sending it plummeting into the hole beneath it.
Rushing over as it hit the bottom, I ripped off my shorts and threw them on top of the rabbit to confuse it further. I ignored the sand and sun hitting my intimate areas and started burying the rabbit by kicking and moving piles of sand onto it.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
A few minutes later, I was sitting on the hot sand, naked, waiting to see if the rabbit would claw its way out and bite my balls off for what I had done. But I saw and heard nothing. Biting my dry lip, I started digging through the sand. After another minute, I reached the now unconscious rabbit and my shorts.
I quickly grabbed my yellow shorts and removed the small knife I had only remembered after seeing them. Hesitantly, I brought the point of the knife to the top of the rabbit's head.
"P-Press down s-sharply into i-it's eyes and into the b-brain!" I yelled, then jammed the knife into the rabbit's head. It twitched for a moment before I felt resistance against the skull. I pushed harder and watched as the rabbit's legs kicked once more.
'A final reflex.'
Then it went still.
I tried to steady my breath as though I hated the thing it hadn't suffered.
I sighed, ignoring the wave of nausea threatening to rise. After putting on my shorts, I walked toward the ruins where I was staying.
'Kai, it's not murder... Butchers do it all the time.'
With that self-justification I walked in silence until minutes later, I was back at my makeshift home. I started a fire, something I could now do with sticks.
'I feel like a caveman.'
Sighing, I set the rabbit on a mossy stone and steadied my knife. 'This is going to be gross.'
Grimacing, I began carving into the animal to skin it. As I worked, I focused on the strange feeling building in my chest.
'Am I happy that I killed something innocent?'
I shook my head, continuing to carve around its back.
'No, I'm happy that I can finally eat something. Something edible.'
Sighing as I finished skinning the rabbit and moved on to removing its guts.
'I need to find berries for food and bait. I also need to find a source of water I can drink from.'
Frowning, I grabbed the gutted rabbit and walked down to the beach to rinse the animal. As I cleaned it, I glanced down at my reflection. My blue dyed hair, green eyes and skinny frame stared back at me.

'I'll need a lot more food if I want to survive here.'
Once finished cleaning, I walked back to my home, cut the rabbit into pieces and skewered the meat on a stick. I set it over the fire to cook.
'Hopefully tomorrow will be better.'
=-Day 17-=
"Mwahahahaha!" I laughed in joy as I looked down at my trap which had managed to capture a panther half the size of a school bus. It looked up at me and roared, starting to break free from the sticks I had carved into spears. I smirked in response.
Grabbing the bundles of vines I had gathered from the ruins over the past few days, I threw them onto the panther and watched it start to get tangled. But the panther soon began tearing through the vines.
"Oh no you don't, you fucker!"
With a small amount of hesitation, I jumped onto its head, holding the finger sized knife that I had rehandled to grip between my middle and ring fingers like a claw. I jammed it into its eyes and didn't stop pushing until I met resistance courtesy of its skull.
'...Fuck?'
The panther roared in pain and anger and I ripped my arm out of its eye socket. I jumped back out of the trap just as it fully broke free from the vines, leaping out and glaring at me with its one remaining eye. I froze feeling the weight of its gaze.
"E-ehm, h-hello, panther? T-this must be our f-first time meeting..."
It growled and advanced on me. I slowly backed away, raising my hands in a gesture of surrender.
"I d-didn't hurt you, i-it was my twin!"
The panther glanced at my blood soaked arm, then back to me growling louder. I sighed, then pointed downward as I stepped backward into a vine. The panther's lone eye widened as it looked down seeming to prepare to pounce. until it realized it wasn't falling into another pit.
"Sorry, I get my ups and downs confused."
Just as those words left my mouth, two giant logs held up by vines I had spent a day weaving into thick ropes descended from above and smashed into the sides of the panther's head, stunning it. If my hearing was still working, I could've sworn I heard its skull crack.
'Hopefully it did.'
Running toward it, I grabbed its nose using it as leverage to jump onto its head. I held my knife firmly and rammed my hand into its damaged eye once again. I felt a slight resistance before the skull conceded against my strength and I connected with its skull. Like strings being cut from a puppet, the panther twitched before collapsing.
'Fuck... How am I supposed to haul this fucking thing?'
I groaned at the extra work I made on myself.
=-Day 21-=
"Hmm?~ You want to know how I've managed to survive so long?" I spoke, turning to the green frog that would be bigger than a bus if it had legs. I smiled as I looked at the frog's legs slowly being cooked on a fire, I had slowly managed to cut them off with my small knife.
'Good thing the last two legs only took me an hour to cut off, the first two took me two hours each!'
Fondly sighing at the memory, I began telling the giant frog which had its mouth tied shut with thick vine ropes about my survival.
"Around my ninth day here on this island, I started feeling the effects of severe dehydration and took a drastic measure. I cut moss off my wonderful abode and squeezed it and out came water! Once I drank from it and suffered no effects, I started using moss as my water source."
I heard the frog let out a low croak and hushed it before taking a bite of cooked frog leg.
"Delicious. Anyway! Where was I? Oh yeah, on the thirteenth day, after walking along the coast of the island I found a running water stream. Against my better judgment, I followed the stream. I had walked it into the jungle at some point" I pointed to it with the leg. "And found clear water! I was so giddy that I didn't notice a fucking panther!"
I felt something wet touch my barefoot and followed the liquid to its source. My eyes widened as I saw the frog was dead, releasing some kind of liquid from its mouth.
"Awww, really? How rude to die while I was talking to you!"
Pouting, I ignored the frog's demise and finished off the leg. I then walked over to a chipped pot I had found in one of the homes here in the ruins. As I stared at my reflection, I noticed the changes my body had undergone, the most notable being the amount of muscle I had gained in less than a month.
'Probably just newbie gains.'
Next, I noticed that my once dyed hair was now completely black. I had also cut my hair a few days ago after it had gotten too long. Finally, I saw the two scars on my right arm.
{Image}
"And here I was going to tell Mister No-Legs that the shoulder scar was from that panther, and that I had killed him..." I sighed as I cupped my hands and used them as a cup to drink from the water. After taking a drink, I moved away from the reflection and grabbed my now chipped knife. I sat down near the fire and muttered to myself.
"System; Quests."

I groaned at the partially completed hidden quest. 'I know this quest is related to killing animals, but I don't know why it's still hidden.'
Yawning, I looked up at the window and gazed at the stars I had grown accustomed to. 'I haven't seen any ships nor signs that ships have been here. Will I need to build a ship?'
Just as that thought crossed my mind, the System chimed.
*Ding!*
[Quest: Kai need's a ship! Progress 0/1 Reward: ?]
I felt my eye twitch at the lack of information before sighing and lying down, the knife resting on my chest. 'I need better tools.'
The reason other than my knife was going dull was that the panthers I had been able to trick into traps were now avoiding them every time I killed one, they had also started grouping together. Though at the same time, I was getting stronger now able to throw the beasts and crack their skulls through their eyes with sheer strength.
Yawning again, I closed my eyes and relaxed.
'Tomorrow will just be another day.'

{Author here, Not sure if this is happening all to quickly but I thought people wouldn't want to read 30 chapters of the MC looking for running water. If I'm wrong.. I don't know? comment upon it and what you think you would like and I'll think it over.}
