My Journey In One Piece!

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Monke

=-Day 42-=

I stared at the grey screen that greeted me the moment I woke up, immediately annoyed.

*Ding!*

[Quest: Acquire 100xp has been completed! Rewards: ? Have been sent!]

"System? I haven't received anything."

*Ding!*

^System Response!^ [The Host will not receive Quest Rewards until Quest: ? is completed!]

"Fuck you, System."

I received no response, and my irritation only grew. I stood up from my bed made from the pelts of panthers and whatever else I had killed here on the island. I walked outside and drank from a mossy pot of water I had boiled the day before. Afterward, I moved to another shelter where I kept food and sighed at how quickly I was going through it.

"I'll need to expand my hunting grounds." I scratched the cross shaped scar on my right side while eating some smoked frog. Then, I grabbed a few spears I'd made after my knife finally broke during a hunt I had.

"Hmm~ Lizard for breakfast, then I'll venture further into the island."

With my goal set for the day, I stepped into the dense greenery. 'Maybe I'll get lucky and learn more about this place.'

=-Day 47-=

I had been lost in the forest for the past five days.

"How am I lost?!" It didn't make sense. I knew I had only travelled an hour or so into the forest, following the same path I had used while expanding my hunting grounds the first time I entered. 'So why the fuck am I lost?!'

I stopped moving and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath in and out. "Just stay calm, Kai. You're better than this." 'Retracing your steps isn't working. Maybe I can—'

Thump

Thump

"Is that thumping?"

Thump

Thump

I turned in the direction of the sound, deciding to bite the bullet and head in that direction while keeping my hands on my spear and my eyes open. The thumping grew louder as I moved through the foliage.

Thump

Thump

'Is it people?' I didn't want to get my hopes up, but the thought made me move faster, a little hope building in my chest against my better judgment.

I was getting close now; I could feel the thumping through the ground. Just as I broke through the foliage and into a clearing, my hopes crashed and was replaced by dread. 'Fuck.'

I stared at the rear of a massive orange furred creature sitting on a stone in front of me. 'That's not a tiger...'

I quickly retreated back into the foliage as monkeys and apes gathered around what I assumed was their leader.

"Oo?"

I blinked as one of the monkeys, wearing clothing stepped forward from the group. 'Human clothing? What the fuck...?'

"Oo! oO!" The giant orange monkey roared, and I winced in discomfort.

I moved cautiously to get a better view of the giant creature as it picked up the monkey that had stepped forward. That's when I realized just how massive the thing was. 'It's got to be over thirty feet tall!'

I froze wide eyed, as I watched the giant orangutan open its massive mouth and eat the monkey it was holding whole. 'I need to get out of here.'

Deciding that what was best for my sanity and survival was retreat, I turned around. But then I stepped on a stick and broke it.

...

...

'Phew, they didn't hear that...'

"Human is here. Fetch it."

My gut dropped as the orangutan spoke human fucking words. I didn't waste any more time, I started running as fast as I could when I heard the other primates closing in.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!"

I slid on the ground just as a gorilla lunged at me, narrowly avoiding its grasp. I quickly regained my footing and kept running.

I turned just in time to see two monkeys leap at me with their arms outstretched to grab me. I reacted by grabbing their arms, swinging around and throwing them into two other primates. I didn't stop running, even as I heard the foliage behind me shift.

Then I froze for a moment, hearing the orangutan's roar once more.

"Human! I will eat you!"

=-Day 49-=

I had been running for a day straight, taking random turns here and there. A few times, I even glimpsed the coast but avoided heading toward it, fearing the primates might be waiting for me to stop. At some point though, I didn't hear, see or smell anything following me except for a panther, which quickly became a raw snack. 'I'm ready to sleep for the next few days..'

I walked along a path I knew would lead me back home, and I quickened my pace just as the scent of fire reached my nose.

The closer I got, the stronger the smell became and the more dread filled me at what I was about to find.

I broke through the forest and dropped to my knees, staring at the ruins of what had been my home. 'All the meat...'

Shaking off my shock, I stood up and ran toward the still raging fire, hoping to recover something. 'I'll fucking kill them.' I thought as I kicked through a wall and found a few pots of drinkable water. 'Don't need that, I can always get more from the source.'

I ran past them, crashing through another wall. On the other side was my meat storage, and I froze at the sight of my food, now covered in shit. The anger boiled inside me but I was snapped out of it as the fire caused the building to start collapsing.

I ran out of the building and jumped over a wall of fire, landing in the house where I usually slept. I found that all of the pelts now burning, were also covered in shit. 'Those fucking—'

"Oo! Oo!"

I turned at the sound of the primates and smiled as I walked toward them, ignoring the burning pain from the flames on the ground.

~POV Change~

"Oo?" One of the primates voiced, pointing to the raging fire they had started with the things their King had lent them.

"Oo!" The rest of the primates turned as a figure emerged from the flames. They recognized it as the one their King had wanted.

"Oo! Oo!" Their leader bellowed, banging his chest before charging toward the human faster than the others.

"Oo-Raah!"

The primates thought it would be over as their leader raised his arms to crush the human, but he was stopped when the human grabbed his jaw, crushing it with ease. The human then slammed him into the ground so hard that it cracked, briefly flickering the flames before they raged on even fiercer.

No one moved as the human stood up, raising his foot over the leader's head and crushing it with a brutal stomp. The primates recoiled as the human stared at them with the same hunger they had seen whenever their King was ravenous.

"I'm going to fucking skin you all alive."

The smile the human wore widened as he raised his hands, flexing his fingers until they cracked.

"You'll all be great practice for skinning things with my fingers."

Then before they could react, he disappeared faster than they thought possible.

~Kai POV / Scene Change~

"Stop fucking screaming!" I yelled as I punched the broken jaw of one of the monkeys still alive. I was currently working on skinning its legs.

"O-Oo!"

Sighing, I raised my hand into a fist and brought it down onto its skull, crushing it as its head caved in and splattered across the sand.

"Fucking filthy monkey."

Rolling my eyes, I pulled my other hand's fingers from under its skin and stood up. I pettily kicked the body before turning to look at the ruins, now a smouldering heap of nothing.

'That giant monkey was intelligent. I wouldn't be surprised if it sends more when it realizes this lot hasn't returned.'

I sighed and glanced at the vase one of the apes had been holding before I killed it. Walking over to it, I noticed it had a lid. Once opened, I smelled it.

"Smells like oil. Must've been why they were able to make the fire so big."

I sighed again, placed the lid back on and secured it to my pants. 'I'll need a new place. Preferably hidden… I could try the other side of the island?'

I looked between the forest and the beach. 'Even though I ran for a day, I only saw the coast a few times, and it were of places I've ventured before.'

I frowned before shrugging. It was my best option.

"And I might see what else this island has in store, while avoiding the giant fucking monkey."

With a new goal set, I ventured along the beach, staying alert for anything that might be following me.

=-Day 50-=

After most of the previous day walking along the beach and believing that enough distance separated me from the giant orange beast, I decided to venture into the forest once more. And it was only after a few hours of walking that I had found a waterfall with a small cave where a normal sized bear was sleeping, which happily decided would become my next meal.

Right now though, I was hauling a log on my shoulder, planning to use it for a creation, a door.

'If I add a door to the cave, I'll need to add a chimney for the fire.'

I smiled at the thought of making a home for myself, then frowned as I remembered yesterday. 'I've already vented. No need to start looking for and assassinating monkeys.'

I sighed as I looked at the waterfall and dropped the log. I stared at it. 'I have no clue how to make a door...'

Shrugging, I abandoned my dream of a door and picked up a rock. 'I should start with tools instead.'

And that's how I spent the next few days, gathering materials for tools and making the cave a little more homely.
