Multiverse Gacha

Chapter 470: [468] Destruction!

Boom~

A deafening explosion roared across Itogami Island, its hollow artificial structure amplifying the sound.

The entire island was a man-made construct floating on the ocean. Though this was an outer area, if the blasts got too intense, they could destabilize the whole place.

In one section of the island, towering war machines—seven or eight meters tall with six legs—rampaged. They resembled giant ants clad in shrimp-like armor.

Their oval bodies housed hemispherical heads, tipped with two antenna-like secondary arms. These oversized killing machines were intimidating just standing there.

"So this is Nalakuvera," Asagi murmured.

From atop a shipping container, August and Asagi watched the scene unfold.

August was unfazed, but Asagi stared in shock at the Nalakuvera tearing through everything.

Swish~

A purple magic circle flared to life, and Natsuki appeared.

"Hey, Natsuki-chan. Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon my foot! The second I take my eyes off you, you cause a mess this big!"

The moment she arrived, Natsuki snapped at August, instinctively pinning the chaos on him.

"Uh, Natsuki-chan, this isn't August's fault. He came to save me," Asagi interjected.

"Hm? Asagi? What are you doing here?"

"I got captured by the Black Death Faction. August rescued me."

"Rescued you?"

Natsuki gave Asagi a once-over, making her squirm uncomfortably.

Then her gaze shifted back to August.

"You—first the middle school division wasn't enough, and now you're targeting the high schoolers?"

Her words caught August off guard, and Asagi's face flushed crimson.

"Natsuki-chan, it's not like that!" Asagi protested.

"Who knows? Regardless, Asagi, I'm your teacher. Don't call me 'chan,'" Natsuki said, tapping Asagi's head with her fan.

Asagi flinched back, a little intimidated.

August found it amusing. Though Natsuki was in her mid-twenties, her body still looked like a teenager's.

She might be a teacher, but to most students, her "cute loli" vibe far outweighed her "strict authority" one.

That's why so many called her "Natsuki-chan"—much to her annoyance. Her youthful appearance was a sore spot, especially given her naturally serious demeanor.

In the original story, she'd once donned a middle school uniform to catch a creep—and it fit perfectly. August had tried more than once to recreate that scene, but she'd shot him down every time.

Boom~

A laser blast streaked in from the distance, obliterating a spot less than ten meters away.

Natsuki and Asagi snapped back to reality. This wasn't the time for chit-chat—not with a pack of god-killing weapons running amok.

"Natsuki-chan, I've made a command to make the Nalakuvera self-destruct. We just need to find the Queen unit," Asagi said.

"Hm? Not bad, Cyber Empress. You're really something," Natsuki replied, impressed.

Her student was proving her worth.

"No need," August cut in.

"What do you mean 'no need'?" Natsuki demanded.

"No need for commands. I'll destroy this scrap heap myself."

"Hey, you idiot! This isn't a joke. If these things spread across Itogami Island, do you have any idea how much damage they'll cause?"

"If I don't act reckless, what kind of demon king am I?"

"You—"

Natsuki frowned at August. She knew once he made up his mind, he wouldn't budge. This wasn't the usual August anymore.

Asagi opened her mouth to protest, but Natsuki grabbed her arm and shook her head.

Asagi didn't know August's personality, but Natsuki did. He was a demon king—self-centered to the core.

Boom~

A Nalakuvera landed nearby, locking onto August.

He was the strongest magical signature here, and these machines were built to eliminate powerful threats.

"A bunch of mindless junk. Not having a consciousness is your biggest stroke of luck," August said with a smirk.

He raised a single finger, dark green magic gathering into a tiny point.

But that tiny point radiated terror—its compressed power was monstrous.

"Black Cero!"

Boom~

A dark green beam shot skyward.

Where the Nalakuvera had stood, a massive trench now scarred the ground. The machine was gone—vaporized, leaving nothing behind.

Sure, Nalakuvera could self-repair and evolve, but when obliterated in one hit, those abilities meant squat.

"That guy's a monster," Natsuki muttered, eyeing August.

The magic he'd just unleashed unnerved even her.

She had no doubt that if that attack hit a populated part of Itogami Island, it'd sink the whole area into the sea.

As for Asagi, unfamiliar with the mystical side of things, she stood dumbfounded. Was this really power a person could wield?

Bang~ Bang~ Bang~

The surrounding Nalakuvera units, sensing August's threat level, converged on him.

Even the Queen unit, stored at the back, locked its gaze on him.

Zap~ Zap~ Zap~

Crimson lasers fired from all directions.

Natsuki reacted instantly, teleporting Asagi to a safe spot farther away.

Attacks like that wouldn't faze August, but if Asagi got grazed, she'd be toast.

"Natsuki-chan, will August be okay?" Asagi asked, worried.

"Don't worry. That guy's a freak. If anyone's fine, it's him."

"Really?"

"Just keep watching. You'll see."

Natsuki might not like August's reckless streak, but she couldn't deny his strength.
