Chapter 469: [467] Demon God!
Looking down at the abandoned area below, a slight smirk curved August's lips.
With his terrifying sensory abilities, the entire zone fell under his perception. Finding Asagi's location was child's play.
He also picked up on the Black Death Faction beastmen scattered around.
There weren't many—just a few dozen. After all, though they called themselves the Black Death Faction, they were little more than remnants now. Since their former leader's death, the group had all but crumbled.
Even their current leader, Christoph Gardos, had only been a mid-tier officer back in the day.
"Alright, shadows—go. Wipe out every last enemy."
Swish~ Swish~
Instantly, shadowy figures clawed their way out of the darkness, darting toward the area.
The beastmen were out in the open, while these shadow assassins moved unseen, slipping through the dark. They weren't a ninja squad, but when it came to stealth kills, they were just as deadly.
In mere moments, the outermost sentries were silently taken out.
August, meanwhile, headed straight for Asagi's location.
After weaving through the area for a bit, he arrived at what looked like an underground bunker. A heavy iron door stood guarded by two beastmen armed with guns.
Step~
The sound of his landing instantly put the two on alert.
"Who's there?"
They snapped their guns up, but August stepped forward into their line of sight, casual as ever.
"Hey, good afternoon."
"Who are you? How'd you get here?"
"Name's August. I'm a demon god. As for how I got here—walked in, obviously."
"You bastard! Messing with us? Die!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
No hesitation. These two were hardened killers, used to spilling blood without a second thought.
August didn't flinch. A shadowy barrier formed from his abilities, deflecting every bullet effortlessly.
Sure, the shots wouldn't have hurt him anyway, but letting them hit? Beneath him.
This ability—Dragon's Legacy—was just too convenient. Versatile, powerful, perfect for offense and defense. Its destructive force was immense, and its protection? Unless someone's magic outstripped August's, breaking through was a pipe dream.
"How's that possible? You're not human!"
They emptied their clips, but August stood unscathed. The beastmen were dumbfounded.
"Didn't I just say? I'm a demon god. You've had your turn—now it's mine."
"Wait, I—"
Slash~
Before he could finish, a shadow blade decapitated him. Blood sprayed like a fountain.
The other beastman froze, too stunned to scream, only to meet the same fate instants later.
Boom~
With the two guards down, August smashed the iron door open.
Inside, Asagi had just finished the command code when she heard the commotion—gunfire, screams, and then the door shattering.
A man stepped through the entrance. Backlit by the light, he looked to Asagi like a radiant knight in shining armor.
"Hey, Asagi! I'm here to save you."
"You idiot—don't tell me you just stormed in here!"
"Yep."
Asagi pressed a hand to her forehead. This was a terrorist group! Sure, he was strong, but did he have to waltz in so brazenly?
Through the corner of her eye, she caught the bloodstains by the door. No surprise—the two beastmen guarding her were likely dead.
Growing up on Itogami Island, a demon sanctuary, she'd never encountered death firsthand.
Step~ Step~ Step~
Rapid footsteps echoed.
Christoph Gardos appeared at the doorway, drenched in blood, one arm missing.
"You're that demon king who's been popping up on Itogami Island, aren't you?" he said slowly, eyeing August.
Though a terrorist, Gardos wasn't clueless—he kept tabs on basic intel.
"Christoph Gardos of the Black Death Faction."
"That's me. If you've made it here, I assume my men are finished?"
"Yep. Except for you, every last remnant of the Black Death Faction is dead. So, what's it gonna be? Fight to the end, or something else?"
Gardos laughed bitterly. Remnants, huh? Yeah, that's all the Black Death Faction was now.
He pulled a controller from his pocket—the activation device for all the Nalakuvera units. Without the control commands, he'd held off using it.
But now, with his faction wiped out and his own death looming, he'd take Itogami Island down with him.
"August, that's the Nalakuvera controller! Stop him!" Asagi shouted, recognizing it instantly.
"Too late. Let it all burn—let it all crumble under Nalakuvera's might!"
Beep~
He pressed the button. At that moment, every Nalakuvera in the underground storage lit up with a red glow, rebooting from their stasis.
"Hahaha! It's over! This island's done for—Nalakuvera will reduce it to rubble!"
"Shut up already."
Slash~
A shadow figure emerged behind Gardos, claw piercing his heart.
"Eek!"
Asagi, who'd never seen anything like this, yelped and hid behind August.
"Asagi, it's just a dead beastman. What's there to freak out about?"
"Jerk! I'm a normal high school girl—how am I supposed to not freak out over a corpse?!"
"I'm heading out to deal with that scrap metal. You coming?"
"Scrap metal? Nalakuvera? I'll go with you—I've got a way to destroy them—"
"No need. I'll crush that junk myself."
With that, he strode out. Asagi glanced at Gardos's body, repulsion and fear washing over her, and hurriedly scurried after August. No way was she staying here.
