Chapter 22
Chapter 22. Arrival at the Management Cabin
Thanks to not overlapping with the usual time for returning home, I managed to avoid getting stuck in traffic, which was a relief. Perhaps because it was a weekday, the campground didn’t seem to have many visitors.
“Hello.”
“Oh my, you arrived earlier than expected.”
“Yes.”
Inari-san, who was at the counter of the management cabin, greeted us.
“Um, about the luggage, is it possible to have it stored temporarily?”
“Ah, yes, yes… For now, please go around to the back. Hey, move it aside for a bit, please.”
“…Y-Yes.”
From what seemed like an office behind the counter, a young man’s voice could be heard. Since there were young people here before, I was curious and asked Inari-san about it, and it turned out they were just part-timers. I wondered if he might also be some kind of divine messenger, but it seemed not, and I was glad I didn’t bring up the hatchet topic carelessly.
We were led to a prefab warehouse where various tools and lumber were stored.
“For now, please leave it here.”
“Eh, here?”
It felt a bit dusty.
“There’s no other space available.”
“Eh, so you won’t store it in something like a ‘Storage’?”
“Oh, so you’ve received the message about the ‘Storage’ function?”
“Yes, something about KP, is that right? It seems I’ve accumulated some.”
“Ignus-sama mentioned something about bonus points, after all.”
I see. So it was thanks to Ignus-sama. Gratitude, gratitude.
“But even with the ‘Storage’ function, you couldn’t download it, right?”
“That’s right. Does it mean it’s unusable unless we’re over there?”
“Yes. And here, we can’t use the ‘Storage’ function. You can’t put items in or take them out.”
“I knew it!”
In the end, we’ll have to bring it over by car.
“So, I guess I’ll have to use KP to build a house and store it there, right?”
“Well, yes, but first, it might be better to download the ‘Storage’ function. That also uses KP.”
“Eh, really!?”
…I didn’t expect downloading ‘Storage’ would cost 1000 KP.
“Ah, the log house of my dreams.”
“You wanted a log house?”
“It seems like I might just have enough KP for one with a toilet and bath.”
“…Um, KP alone won’t build a house, you know?”
“Huh?”
I froze at Inari-san’s words.
“Well, you can’t make something without materials.”
“…Materials?”
“What do you think Hirogerukun is for? You gather materials with it and create things.”
“Eh, then what’s KP for?”
“…Hmm, a technical fee? Processing cost?”
What’s that supposed to mean?
The other world isn’t as easy as I thought.
I slumped to my knees, stunned.
“Ah, then, what about electricity and such?”
“Of course, there’s none.”
“Right…”
But I can’t give up here!
“Can’t Inari-sama’s power do something about it?”
“Nope.”
Inari-san smiled brightly.
…It seems a comfortable slow life is far from reach.
