Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 13: Dreamlike Azure

At night, Hexia followed Annelli to the house where they would be living.

Before them stood a two-story house with a rounded dome, its roof curving with an arc reminiscent of the flying eaves found in the East, while the walls below were a pale turquoise resembling turquoise, embellished with gold branches and leaves around the windows and floral decorations—it was neither too complex nor monotonous, striking a perfect balance.

Entering the house, the first thing one saw was the spacious hall, one side of which had arched lattice windows that replaced a wall, offering a view of the garden outside and allowing for curtains to be drawn in the evening to maintain tranquility.

The living room's round table matched the wall's turquoise hue, set with porcelain teapots, and both the handle of the teapot and the rims of the teacups featured gilt detailing. Apart from chairs and tables, the hall wasn't crowded with objects, instead offering a feeling of minimalistic freshness.

Behind the living room on the first floor was a large kitchen, spacious enough to house ten maids working without crowding, and there was also a servants' lounge and storage room on the other side.

Their bedrooms were on the second floor, with Hexia's room directly opposite Annelli's. Additionally, there was one vacant guestroom, and above that, a small attic, currently unoccupied. As for the bathroom, it was on the lower level, very quiet, resembling a swimming pool, and the insulation and soundproofing were excellent.

"Is it really necessary to be this luxurious?" Hexia, having finished her tour, was a bit taken aback. She vaguely understood that Annelli's family was wealthy, but had not expected such an elaborate arrangement.

"Of course, it's necessary. After all, having a good living environment allows one to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their tasks," Annelli spoke from her life experience. She was quite particular, and since she had decided to get along well with Tilan, she naturally set out the best standards she had in mind.

"All right then." Since she had already arrived, Hexia felt it wouldn't be good to object at this point. She wasn't overly rigid but was still getting used to the new surroundings.

Not long after they sat down, several maids served them freshly brewed hot tea, the subtle fragrance wafting through the steam.

Clasping the slightly hot teacup, Hexia looked out the glass window beside her, hearing the chirping of insects and occasional bird calls, indicating the environment's tranquility. Though they were within Edith Academy, the only house around was theirs.

"When I arrived, I heard Lady Isabelle say that if there's anything I don't understand, I can ask Annelli," Hexia recalled the words she'd been told before leaving.

"That's right, Tilan, feel free to ask me anything," Annelli said with a touch of happiness, patting her chest.

"At Edith Academy..." Hexia started, organizing her thoughts.

"How do people usually get along here? I've heard some rumors that it's not quite the same as other academies."

"Well, indeed, there are some differences, but Tilan doesn't need to worry too much at first. Just think of it as a normal high school," Annelli soothed.

"Although many of the students come from distinguished families, they are all still 16-17 years old, with similar interests. They play games, watch interesting movies, chat, and have various troubles and concerns."

"I was born into the Xie Lanhuasi family, and because of the family, I know quite a few peers with similar social standing. Aside from the 10% who have unique hobbies and habits, everyone else is not much different from ordinary people," Annelli added.

"I see..." Hexia nodded slightly, deciding to trust Annelli for the time being. Although she had a feeling it wasn't going to be that simple, she felt somewhat less anxious than before.

The two of them then chatted about the house's facilities and the surrounding environment for a while before Hexia asked, curious.

"Do the maids in the house always stand by like this?" Hexia noticed two maids standing motionless against the wall not far away, for quite some time.

"Yes, because we might need them at any moment, so it's convenient to call on them this way."

"Aiko, Ella, come here," Annelli beckoned.

Upon hearing this, the two maids quickly approached with light steps, their footsteps exceptionally soft as if they had undergone special training.

"This is Tilan, another mistress of this house from now on, my good friend. From now on, if Tilan needs you, respond to her just like you would to me, understood?"

"Understood, Miss Six." Annelli ranked six in age among her siblings.

"Good, now get the bathroom ready. Tilan and I will take a bath in a bit."

"Yes," and with that, one of the maids left to prepare the bathwater and adjust the temperature in the underground bathroom, while the other remained standing at the side of the living room.

Seeing Tilan somewhat concerned, Annelli explained again, "It may seem tiring to watch, but our family provides them with very generous compensation, and some tasks do require such dedication; it's not possible to be relaxed all the time."

"I understand," Tilan shook her head, then nodded.

"I used to work in a coffee shop; I understand that kind of need." She was not ignorant, just reflecting on how in just half a month's time, she had gone from being a maid who helped others to one who was now served by others.

Such is the fickleness of the world. These effortlessly obtained comforts made her feel somewhat uneasy.

An hour later, Tilan soaked in the bathroom, Annelli having already left, leaving her alone in the pool, which allowed her to relax even more.

Indeed, it was when she was alone that she felt most at ease. The young girl thought as she played casually with the water, listening to the splash of water droplets.

Half an hour later, the young girl stepped onto the damp floor and moved to the adjoining shower room. After a quick rinse and drying off, she put on her pajamas and then headed to her second-floor bedroom.
