Chapter 12: Arrive at South Zone 1
Yuanting Academy, White Kite Hall.
This grand building is at the center of the academy and currently serves as the gathering place for the school board's meeting.
In a room behind the hall, there are murals of birds flitting through branches on the walls, and seated around a white stone table below are over a dozen directors in varying attire. Some are major entrepreneurs from the Northern First District today, some are masters from the renowned Transcendent Factions, others are reclusive celebrities, and still, others are spokespeople for some ancient families in the Northern First District. If they have one thing in common, it is that they all graduated from Yuanting Academy and had spent a part of their youth within its grounds.
"The admission phase for this year has gradually gotten on track, and the performance of the students has been quite good, with none exhibiting a drastic contrast between their past and present behaviors, or demonstrating a terrible character."
"Indeed, that's excellent. When I was at school, I suffered from depression for a long time because of a classmate with a terrible character," a director in purple remarked while caressing a kitten in her arms, her voice filled with emotion.
"Haha, you've told me that story at least ten times, it's been so many years and you still can't forget, huh?" another director laughed heartily, his beard quivering along with his laughter.
...
"Cough, let's set aside these routine reports for the moment. How is that new Songstress student performing in school? I mean, the one with the Songstress Talent?" a director who looked like a technical bureaucrat behind his glasses asked.
"Hexia is doing quite well. She's currently studying some Songstress-related matters with the Ghost Princess and has slowly made friends and companions. She even occasionally participates in practical training classes and competitions."
"That's good to hear. I was quite worried when she enrolled because looking at her junior high school records, her personality seemed very introverted. I feared that she would remain trapped in her own corner after entering high school."
Although Hexia didn't know many teachers at the academy, many of them were actually paying close attention to her. With each new class not exceeding 300 students, Hexia really stood out.
"Maybe some things that happened during the holidays changed her. I've spoken to some folks from Edith Academy recently, and they shared a lot with me."
"About Hexia, as well as her parents, and her sister's affairs. It's no wonder she became introverted and timid in junior high school. I reckon others might not have fared any better in her place."
"Should we pair her up with some lively and cheerful classmates as companions?"
"No need, that would be too contrived and might very well backfire. Even if they became friends, it would probably be more upsetting if they one day learned the truth."
"Things will get better over time. Let's not interfere too much. After all, Yuanting is known for its relaxed and natural approach, without forcing anything."
"Then let's just keep a silent eye on the situation," the directors decided amongst themselves.
Then, a director who had previously remained silent asked, "Regarding the Ghost Princess, is she truly trustworthy to instruct Hexia?"
"The Ghost Princess... uh..." Some of the directors seemed hesitant to speak.
"Though it might sound disrespectful to say this, it's a fact that Yuanting Academy, or rather its predecessor Yuanting Pavilion, received much assistance from the Ghost Princess. We truly don't have the grounds to distrust her, it's just that she's been in slumber for many years and has only recently awoken."
"So there are such special beings. Does the Federal Official know about her?"
"That... they probably don't. She seldom goes out and only peruses the information amidst the starry heavens with the help of equipment we provide."
"According to records left by the early Yuanting Pavilion, the Ghost Princess has a cold demeanor, but that's manageable. She doesn't like being disturbed by others, but if there's a significant issue and we seek her advice, she does provide some guidance."
"She is a person with a special relationship to our academy. It was she who suddenly came to us and offered to teach Hexia, although our original plan was to assign Grelisa as her teacher."
"Grelisa has previously worked with several songstresses in the bustling central Star Domain, possessing a high level of musical attainment, and she has also guided quite a few stars to fame. It was fitting for her to take on the role of a teacher, but it seems that now she can only teach Hexia vocal techniques."
"She was a bit upset before, so she sought out the Ghost Princess, planning to have a theoretical debate, but sadly, she returned quite depressed and dispirited for a long time, only improving slightly in the last couple of days."
"It is likely that she was struck hard. According to records passed down through the Academy, that Ghost Princess has a naturally enchanting voice, like a ghostly siren, or perhaps it's better to say she is the queen of the ghostly sirens."
"It's unfortunate for her, but it's a surprise that the Ghost Princess is willing to impart her skills. Perhaps Hexia will be able to learn many lost arts from her."
The directors' conversation lingered on Hexia for a while before slowly moving on to the main topic, such as the teaching plans for the new term and the current trends of various nearby academies, and so on.
"Edith Academy is also about to start their term; they are two weeks behind us. In two days, it will be their opening ceremony, and Hexia must leave for there tonight."
"We're somewhat reluctant to let her go, but unfortunately, our Yuanting Academy currently doesn't have the influence that Edith Academy commands. We have no choice but to let Hexia go," sighed several people.
"That place is full of interests and competition, not as peaceful as here in the Northern First District."
"Heirs of major financial groups, descendants of stars, talents emerging from various places and so forth, all gather there. Each one of them is proud and arrogant; it's not easy to win people over in that kind of environment."
"But it's quite a challenge, isn't it?"
"With us as a haven for comfort and rest, surely Hexia can let loose a little more. We shall see."
The voices in the meeting room gradually faded, and another journey was slowly beginning.
The sizable aircraft descended smoothly onto the airstrip nestled between mountain gorges, with surrounding indicator lights flashing. Hexia waved to the teacher behind her, then stepped into the iron gray aircraft.
The jet engines ignited, the blue tail stream washed over the land, and then the aircraft rose slowly. Adjusting its position, it flew south towards Jade Skirt, crossing over mountain after mountain, through the vast ocean, to reach the most bustling core area of Jade Skirt, the South First District.
Hours later, aboard the aircraft, Hexia looked down at the city below aglow with lights. The orange-yellow lights stretched from the edge of the horizon to the ends of the sky, as if the whole earth were covered by this forest of lights, a magnificent sight.
This is the South First District... She gradually realized in her heart.
Descending once more amidst the roar, she stepped off the aircraft via the automatic escalator. Waiting in front of her was a silver-haired girl, with shoulder-length hair curling into waves and spirals at the ends. She wore a black-and-white fitted dress and was enwrapped in grey tights that highlighted her well-proportioned and graceful figure.
"Welcome to the South First District, Tilan~" She curtsied, lifting the hem of her dress, while the maids in black and white uniforms behind her bent in unison, dozens of people as one, exceptionally uniform and beautiful.
These maids were uniformly dressed, with white folded neckerchiefs at their chests, and the collar's corner embroidered with a pair of Silver Leaf emblems, indicating they all came from Silver Leaf Workshop, and were highly loyal servants. Not only their parents, but even their grandparents had been working for Silver Leaf Workshop.
This was a practice inherited by many large enterprises from various major guilds of the Third Age, always needing to maintain some loyal employees to control certain key positions.

In the bright lights, Hexia clearly saw the girl before her. It was then she knew Annelli's appearance for the first time, indeed bearing some resemblance to 'Vurowus' older sister.
"Please come with me, Tilan." Afterward, Annelli took Hexia's hand and led her into a silver Hover Car parked nearby, prepared in advance. Then the motorcade slowly started up, driving towards 'Edith Academy' in the South First District, known for its fame.
There, a brand-new house had been built, its style close to nature and beautiful. At that moment, it was waiting for its owner to enter.
Neckerchiefs bearing black roses, white dresses with blue edges, crisp outlining, and high-grade T4 fabric—two sets of student uniforms hung quietly in the wardrobe, speaking of an extraordinary status and the storm that was coming.
