Marvel : Strongest Siblings

Chapter 87: Marvel 87

The next day, Phil arrived at Max's house and knocked on the door.

"Yo," greeted Lumia as she opened it. She was dressed casually, with a bowl of popcorn in her hand.

"Are you guys ready?" Phil asked, a bit surprised to see her so relaxed.

"I'm not, but my brother is," she replied with a smirk, turning back to the TV and plopping down on the couch.

A few minutes later, Max stepped out, looking sharp in a three-piece suit.

"You look ready," Phil said, raising an eyebrow.

Max simply shrugged. "Let's go," he replied.

Phil glanced at Lumia and asked, "Your sister isn't coming?"

"I'm enough," Max replied with confidence.

Phil didn't argue and nodded as they began to leave.

"Bring me an alien souvenir if you can," Lumia called out teasingly.

Max nodded slightly while Phil glanced back, wondering what she meant, but decided not to dwell on it as they climbed into the car.

During the ride, Phil handed Max a folder. "Here's the file on the others working with you," he said, passing it to him.

Max glanced at the file briefly before tossing it onto the seat beside him. "Working with me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Phil nodded. "You're the strongest among us, so we thought you'd take the lead," he explained carefully.

Max smirked. "Spare me the flattery. I'm only helping this time. I have no reason to join your little freak squad," he said bluntly.

Phil nodded silently, not pushing the issue further, and focused on the road ahead.

"I get why the big green guy, the guy with the shield, and the guy in the iron suit are on the list, but why those two agents—Black Widow and Hawkeye? They're just normal humans," Max asked, glancing at Phil.

"They're our best agents and highly advanced in combat," Phil replied. "They make up for their lack of supernatural powers with exceptional skills."

Max nodded but looked thoughtful. "I'm also curious—why hasn't Captain America aged a day?" he asked.

Phil explained, "It's no mystery. He was frozen in ice for many years, which acted like a cryo chamber, slowing his metabolism to the bare minimum needed to keep him alive."

Max smirked. "Another ordinary human who should've long been dead," he commented.

Phil nodded in agreement. "Yes, the super soldier serum worked wonders for him."

Max turned to Phil with a curious look. "What about you?"

Phil raised an eyebrow. "What about me?"

"I mean, don't you want in on this little team?" Max asked with a teasing grin.

Phil chuckled softly. "I'm too old for that. I have no powers, no extraordinary skills—just experience and a knack for managing chaos. I'll leave the fighting to people like you."

Max simply nodded, leaning back in his seat as the car continued its journey.

Soon, they reached another place, a quiet and secluded area. "Someone's inside," Max said as he scanned the surroundings.

Phil nodded. "Captain's in the gym," he replied.

Max smirked. "I wonder how he'll see me now. Our last interaction wasn't exactly friendly," he remarked.

Phil gave a small smile. "It's all sorted now. Your information was correct—there's Hydra among us."

Max nodded. "Good that you guys figured it out early before any more damage was done."

Phil nodded again. "I'll go get Cap. You can wait here or come with me," he offered.

Max waved his hand dismissively. "I'll wait here."

Phil headed into the gym. A few moments later, he returned, accompanied by a tall, handsome man in a white t-shirt and blue workout pants—Steve Rogers.

Steve walked over and nodded politely at Max. "We meet again," he said, standing by the car.

Max nodded back, extending his hand. "This time under better circumstances," he said with a faint smirk.

Steve chuckled, shaking Max's hand firmly. "Yeah, much better."

He glanced at Phil briefly before looking back at Max. "Glad to have you on the team."

Max nodded. "Let's hope it's worth it."

Steve gave a firm nod and climbed into the car, taking the back seat beside Max. Phil got into the driver's seat, and the car started moving again.

For a moment, there was silence in the car before Steve spoke. "You've made quite the impression, Max. Fury's been talking a lot about you."

Max leaned back, smirking. "I'm sure he has. Let me guess—half of it was complaints about how I don't follow orders."

Steve chuckled softly. "Something like that. But he also said you've got a good head on your shoulders and that you're capable. That's what matters most right now."

Max shrugged. "I'm just here to deal with the alien threat. After that, I'll be out of your way."

Steve raised an eyebrow. "You're not interested in working with a team long-term?"

Max shook his head. "Not my style. I've got my own plans, my own people. This is just a temporary alliance."

Steve didn't press further, but his expression showed a flicker of curiosity. "Fair enough. As long as we're on the same page about stopping the threat, that's all I need from you."

Phil chimed in from the front. "We'll be heading to the base next. The rest of the team will be there. It's best you all get acquainted before things start moving."

Max glanced out the window, watching the cityscape pass by. "I'm not here to make friends, Coulson. Just point me toward the fight."

Steve leaned forward slightly, his tone calm but firm. "It's not just a fight, Max. It's a war. If we're not working together, we'll lose before it even begins."

Max turned to him, his smirk fading. "Don't worry, Rogers. I'll play nice… as long as everyone else does."

Phil exchanged a glance with Steve through the rearview mirror, but neither said anything more as the car continued toward the base.

Soon, they reached an riverside where a helicopter was waiting for them changing the vehicle they begin to move twoardsteh helicarrier the base of SHIELD.
