Marvel : Strongest Siblings

Chapter 86: Marvel 86

The next morning, Max woke up in his home bed, not in the underground city's quarters. As he glanced around, he noticed Rize lying next to him, her bare form draped across the bed. Her beautiful hair was splayed messily over the pillow, and her expression was one of exhaustion mixed with contentment.

"I guess she's been looking forward to this for a long time," he thought with a small smile as he got up and headed to freshen up.

After finishing in the bathroom, Max walked downstairs—and stopped short at the sight before him. Nick Fury, the one-eyed pirate, was hanging upside down in the hallway, looking both annoyed and resigned. Around him, several other men in black suits were sprawled unconscious on the floor.

At the dining table, Lumia sat calmly, eating breakfast and watching TV as though nothing unusual had happened.

Max sighed and rubbed his temples. "I leave you alone for one night, and this happens," he muttered, shaking his head.

"Not my fault," Lumia said casually, still eating breakfast. "Last night, I came here, and this guy was just sitting in a corner. When I turned on the light, he said, 'We need to talk.'" She mimicked Fury's voice mockingly.

"I mean, at first, it was fine, but then he kept acting like a creepy ghost. So, I decided to hang him upside down for dramatic effect." Lumia shrugged as Max sighed and nodded.

"I remember saying," Max began, his tone cold and stern, "the next time I see any of you near my house, you'll all die." He gave Fury a pointed look.

Fury, still hanging upside down, cleared his throat. "I am the Director of SHI—"

"Cut the crap and get to the point," Max interrupted sharply, his patience visibly thinning.

Fury sighed, glancing at Max with a mix of exasperation and urgency. "Can I at least stop hanging upside down?" he asked.

Max stared at him coldly for a moment before nodding slightly. "I guess."

Once Fury was back on his feet, he adjusted his jacket and began, "We need your help."

Max raised an eyebrow, sitting down casually. "What help?"

Fury crossed his arms. "An army of aliens is coming to attack us."

Max leaned back, unimpressed. "And why would they do that?"

Lumia chimed in sarcastically, "You aren't secretly summoning aliens for fun, are you?"

Max chuckled lightly, then pointed at an unconscious man on the floor. With a lazy flick of his hand, the man morphed into a Skrull, his true form exposed. Fury's face twisted into a grimace as he saw the alien.

"Where did you meet them?" Fury asked, alarmed.

Max rolled his eyes. "I've met plenty of them. This one is just another," he said, kicking the Skrull lightly, causing it to groan and shift slightly.

Fury nodded, already thinking about whether there were more aliens on Earth aside from the Skrulls he had sheltered.

"Back to the topic," Fury continued. "We were working on a secret project to create weapons capable of fighting against any potential alien threat. There was a doctor helping us with it," he said, turning to Max. "You know him—you met him in New Mexico."

"You're talking about Dr. Erik," Max replied, earning a nod from Fury.

"Yes. But there was a mistake. While trying to harness more energy from alien tech we acquired, we accidentally opened what could only be described as a wormhole. And from it, someone came through," Fury said grimly.

"At first, we tried to communicate, but he killed all of my agents and kidnapped Dr. Erik. One of my agents, who was barely conscious, overheard him saying, 'You will open portals for Thanos' army.'"

Max's eyes narrowed as Fury continued. "I'm assembling a team of people like you—and your sister," he added, glancing at Lumia. "Join us and help tackle this problem."

"Why should I?" Max asked coldly.

"Because an alien army is coming to Earth to destroy it, and only someone like you can stop them," Fury argued.

Max chuckled, shaking his head. "Why should I take care of the mess you created?."

"Let this be your lesson" he said coldly as Suddenly Lumia caled out.

He turned to Lumia, who looked worried. "Are you sure? I mean, he's wrong, but innocent people in other countries could die," she said softly.

Fury looked at Max with a rare earnestness. "I know I've made mistakes, but don't let those people suffer for them. Help me this time."

Max sighed and looked back at Lumia. "If you don't go, I will. And I'll fight that alien army myself," she said firmly.

Max rolled his eyes again. "Fine, I'll go," he said, though his smirk betrayed that he had already decided.

'I was going anyway' he thought.

"Just one condition," Max added. "I want the alien tech—or, to be precise, the Space Stone."

Fury's expression hardened. "I can't agree to that," he replied.

Max chuckled darkly, releasing a wave of Conqueror's Haki that forced Fury to his knees. "I wasn't asking. I was informing you," Max said coldly, his eyes like death itself. Fury gritted his teeth, feeling the oppressive force, and finally nodded.

"Good," Max said, releasing him. "Call me when I'm needed."

As Fury left with the Skrull, whom Max had revived with a snap of his fingers, Lumia turned to him.

"Is this the alien army you were talking about?" she asked.

Max nodded.

"They're weak—even weaker than the pirates we fought in the other world," Max said, shrugging.

"Ugh, boring," Lumia replied, crossing her arms in disappointment.

Max shrugged again. "What did you expect? World-destroying aliens?" he asked with a smirk.

"I mean, they're aliens," Lumia said, raising an eyebrow. "I thought maybe they'd actually be strong."

Max chuckled. "These are just scouts. It's safe to say the real threat hasn't shown up yet," he explained.

Lumia nodded, her expression still bored. "Fine, I'll wait. Maybe when that creepy baldy shows up, things will get interesting," she said, glancing at Max.

Max nodded in agreement.
