Chapter 32: Chapter 32 Ability Disappeared
[At this time, an MC stood on the stage, "Ladies and gentlemen, the New York Library of Natural Sciences Committee is honoured to introduce this distinguished guest, the first person to play football on the moon."]
[Her words made everyone laugh, "Please welcome the handsome, elegant, brave and fearless Colonel John Jameson!"]
[As the music started, everyone applauded. Amid the applause, John walked out holding Mary Jane's hand. The moment Peter turned around and saw Mary Jane, the smile on his face immediately disappeared, and he stared at her blankly.]
[Mary Jane noticed Peter amidst the crowd. Their eyes met briefly before she looked away, leaving Peter to wrestle with his emotions.]
[In the second half of the party, Peter pushed the door open and walked out. He saw that there was still a snack left, so he wanted to get it, but someone else got there first.]
[Then he saw Mary Jane, who was alone not far away. Peter came behind Mary Jane and greeted her. Peter wanted to explain and apologize to Mary Jane, but Mary Jane said she had heard enough!]
[Mary Jane looked at Peter painfully, "I can't always think about you, it's too painful!"]
[Peter tried to recite a poem, hoping to convey his feelings. But Mary Jane, weary of his excuses, interrupted him. "Stop. Just stop," she said.
Flustered, Peter changed the subject. "Can I get you something to drink?"
Mary Jane shook her head. "I came with John. He'll get it for me."
"John," Peter muttered under his breath.]
[Mary Jane's tone grew sharp. "By the way, John has seen my performance five times, Harry has seen it twice, Aunt May has seen it once Even my sick mother managed to come. My father begged backstage to buy a ticket."]
[Her voice broke as she continued. "But you—my best friend, the person who's supposed to care about me the most—couldn't even show up on time. All I've ever seen is an empty seat." With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Peter speechless.]
[Peter stood rooted in place, guilt and heartbreak etched across his face. Spotting a waiter carrying a tray of wine glasses, he grabbed one, only to discover it was empty. He set it down with a bitter laugh.]
"Oh... this again! It seems to be foreshadowing that Peter Parker's life is always unhappy. He wants something but never gets it." Tony sighed as he watched Peter trying to get food and drinks again and again but always got nothing.
[Back at the party, Peter stood awkwardly among the crowd, lost in thought. Harry, drunk and emotional, stumbled toward him.]
["You make me so angry!" Harry slurred. "All you care about is Spider-Man. You don't give a damn about your best friend! He killed my father, and you defend him because you rely on him to make money!"]
["Harry, calm down," Peter pleaded, but Harry was inconsolable.]
[Harry jabbed a finger at Peter's chest. "You took MJ from me. You took my father's love. You stood by while that monster killed him. Didn't you?!"]
[Before Peter could respond, Harry slapped him hard across the face. "Admit it!" he shouted, slapping him again.]
[Peter stood stunned, his cheek stinging, but he didn't retaliate. Harry's anger ebbed as he saw the hurt in Peter's eyes. Without another word, he turned and walked away.]
"Oh! Harry! How could he do this..." Aunt May looked at Peter who was beaten and felt very sad for him. No one knew the difficulties Peter Parker was facing.
"Sorry, Pete!" Harry looked at what he had done and apologized to Peter. Peter hurriedly said, "It's okay, I understand. We are brothers, aren't we?" Peter's smile made Harry hug him.
"You two are really good brothers, don't you think, Otto?" Rose said to Otto with a smile.
"Yes... You have a really good relationship. Don't let misunderstandings ruin your relationship, Peter." With Peter's encouragement, Otto cheered up and decided to prove himself and make up for his mistakes on the screen.
[The two's attracted the attention of some people around them. After Harry left, Peter became more depressed. At this time, John began to introduce Mary Jane to the audience.]
["Ladies and gentlemen! I am pleased to announce that the beautiful Ms. Mary Jane Watson has accepted my marriage proposal!"]
[Mary Jane was very happy that John announced their relationship at the party, and she stood on the stage with John. Peter, on the other hand, seemed dazed and confused.]
["Peter! Wake up!" Jameson barked from across the room. "Take the picture!"
Startled, Peter snapped to attention, raising his camera to capture the moment.]
[Later that night, Peter swung through the city, his Spider-Man suit blending into the shadows of the towering buildings. But when he tried to shoot his web, nothing happened. "No, no, no!" he cried, panic rising.
Before he could react, he plummeted, crashing painfully onto the edge of a metal trash can. The impact left him gasping for air.]
"It hurts me just looking at it! Not to mention him!" Rhodes also came to Tony's house, and soon after he entered the house, he saw Peter falling on the trash can.
This is different from the last time when it fell on the exhaust pipe. This time it was hit by the edge of the trash can.
[Peter pulled off his mask, his breaths shallow. He tried again to shoot his web, but his wrists remained useless. "What's happening to me?" he whispered, staring at his trembling hands.]
[Determined to test his abilities, Peter approached a nearby wall. He pressed his palms to the surface and began climbing, but halfway up, his grip faltered. He slid back down, barely managing to catch himself before landing in a heap.]
[As he lay beside the trash can, he noticed a bundle of newspapers. Picking one up, he realized his vision was blurry—his myopia had returned. He crumpled the paper in his hands, the reality of his failing powers sinking in.]
"His abilities, responsibilities, and ideals conflict with his family, friendship, and love. His superpowers have made his life a mess. In his heart, he no longer wishes he had superpowers, so his superpowers have become ineffective. right?"
Tony looked at Peter's distraught look and listened to Nick Fury.
Nick Fury nodded. "Our analysts think the same. Until Peter resolves the conflict within himself, his powers might not return."After summarizing it, Tony nodded in agreement.
"Peter, I guess I know the reason." Rose analyzed the possible reasons through Peter's expression and inner changes, and told Peter. Peter seemed to be thinking about something.
