Marvel Brodcast : Spoiling Spider-man

Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Aunt May’s Assist

[Otto grabbed Peter and slammed him against the outer wall of the building. Debris rained down, narrowly missing a terrified couple who ran for cover. On the street below, pedestrians scrambled to avoid the falling rubble, but some cars were caught in the chaos, their roofs and windshields shattered.]

[After taking a few hits, Peter recovered and dodged Otto's next mechanical arm attack. He quickly shot out webbing, blinding Otto by covering his face, then yanked him forward and landed a solid punch, sending Otto reeling backward.]

[Aunt May kept shouting "Help!" Peter looked back at her and quickly crawled towards her, but Otto's tentacles suddenly pushed Peter against the wall. Peter only had time to shout "Hold on!" before Otto threw him to the other side.]

[The two grappled along the wall, Peter gripping Otto tightly while delivering a flurry of punches. They tumbled mid-air, still locked in combat, before Otto managed to free himself and used a tentacle to launch Peter through the window of a nearby building.]

[Aunt May's grip on her umbrella began to slip as her strength waned. Just as her hand gave out, she landed on the base of the statue she had been dangling from. Catching her breath, she looked up at the statue of the Virgin Mary and whispered, "Thank you." But her relief was short-lived as Otto's tentacle snatched her up once more.]

["You ruined my plan last time!" Otto snarled, glaring at Peter. "Now, you'll watch her die with that guilt on your conscience!"]

"Otto is gone," Tony muttered, watching the Screen. "The brilliant scientist who wanted to benefit the world has turned into a man consumed by obsession."

Nick Fury glanced at Tony. "If you were there, could you stop this? Could you help someone in his condition?"

Tony thought for a moment, swirling the drink in his glass. "Theoretically, yes. If we reinstall a functioning inhibitor chip, it could sever the mechanical arms' control over his mind. But it'd need proper protection, unlike the fragile version Otto used."

Tony drank the wine in his glass and picked up the glass that Nick Fury hadn't drunk.

[On the Screen, Peter shot a web to the wall and launched himself at Otto. Otto sneered, "Come on!" One of his tentacles suddenly extended, revealing a sharp spike aimed at Peter. Aunt May, realizing Otto's intent, shouted, "Shameless!" and swung her umbrella, hitting Otto squarely on the head.]

[The unexpected blow caused Otto to lose control, giving Peter just enough time to intercept the spike with his webbing. Peter yanked the tentacle aside, but the pain caused Otto to lose his balance. As Otto stumbled, his tentacles flung Aunt May away to stabilize himself.]

[Aunt May screamed as she plummeted toward the street below. Peter leapt after her, shooting a web to close the distance. He caught her mid-air and secured her with another web, swinging them both to safety.]

[Meanwhile, the police, now unencumbered by a hostage, opened fire on Otto. But the distance was too great, and their shots merely outlined his body in missed bullets. Otto retreated with the stolen money, vanishing into another building.]

[Peter carried Aunt May down to the street. "It's safe now," he reassured her gently.

Aunt May looked at him with gratitude. "Thank you, Spider-Man! I don't know what would have happened without you."

[A small crowd of onlookers gathered, cheering for Spider-Man. Peter turned to Aunt May and said, "We beat him."

Aunt May straightened proudly. "No, I beat him!" she declared, brandishing her umbrella.

Peter smiled under his mask, then shot a web and swung away. A group of women chased after him, shouting, "Take me, Spider-Man! Take me!" He ignored them, disappearing between the city's towering buildings.]

"You've done a great job, May!" Uncle Ben laughed. If Aunt May hadn't given Otto a heavy blow at the last moment, Peter might have been in danger.

"I'm glad I can help Peter!" Aunt May also burst into laughter.

. . . . . .

[At the planetarium party that evening, the venue buzzed with chatter. Guests mingled, sipping champagne and nibbling on hors d'oeuvres. Peter was there, trying to grab a snack, but someone took the last one right as he reached for it. He smiled helplessly and moved on.]

[Spotting an elderly couple, Peter raised his camera to take a photo but realized the lens cap was still on. By the time he removed it, the couple had already been whisked away by a waiter.]

[At the bar, Harry was nursing a drink. When the bartender poured a new glass of champagne, Harry grabbed it with a slurred, "Don't take it!" In his haste, he bumped the first glass, spilling it. The bartender sighed and poured another.]

[Peter approached, placing a hand on Harry's shoulder. "Don't overdo it, Harry."

Harry turned to him with bloodshot eyes. "Why not? This is a party, isn't it? And when you put your hopes on a lunatic, only for it all to come crashing down, wouldn't you drink too?"

"Harry, not tonight," Peter said gently, trying to calm him.

"Don't mention your bug friend to me, Parker," Harry growled, his voice icy. "Any time, 24 hours a day, until I find him."

[Their tense exchange was interrupted by J. Jonah Jameson's voice. "Peter! Peter! Peter! Are you deaf? I've called you twice!" Jameson stormed over, grabbed Peter by the arm, and dragged him away.]

[Harry watched Peter leave, his gaze dark and brooding. He downed the champagne in one gulp.]

[Jameson shoved Peter toward a cluster of people. "Did I pay you to taste champagne? Take a picture of my wife with the minister!"

[Jameson's wife smiled warmly at Peter. "Nice tie!" Peter returned the smile and snapped a photo of her, followed by one of her and the minister.]

[When Jameson spotted the mayor, he barked, "Get a shot of the mayor and his girlfriend!" The mayor's face turned crimson, his wife glaring daggers. Realizing his gaffe, Jameson stammered, "I mean, his wife! Take the picture, Parker!" Peter quickly obliged.]
