Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The Zola Algorithm
Jasper tried to deny it, but when Han Yu mentioned the name of the algorithm, the subtle reaction in his eyes didn't escape Captain America's notice. It was clear—Jasper knew exactly what this was about.
Taking a deep breath, Captain America now had no doubt. Jasper was indeed a Hydra mole. His forced calm demeanor gave it away.
"What are you two doing? I'm getting more and more confused," Natasha finally said, unable to hold back. To her, Han Yu and Captain America's behavior seemed increasingly puzzling—first stalling with idle chatter, then using force, and now asking about some "Zola Algorithm" she had never even heard of.
Han Yu didn't immediately answer Natasha's question. He figured she would understand everything as the situation unfolded; there was no need to explain separately.
Faced with Jasper's refusal to cooperate, Han Yu didn't bother with more words. Instead, he stomped down hard—this time on Jasper's arm.
It wasn't a metaphor. Han Yu literally crushed Jasper's arm under his foot!
And he didn't stop there. Another stomp came down, this time on Jasper's ankle. A sickening crack echoed as bones shattered. The sudden and brutal injuries left Jasper unable to even scream. The intense pain made him open his mouth wide, but no sound came out—a clear sign that the agony had reached its peak.
"That's enough," Captain America stepped in to stop Han Yu. "If he passes out, we won't be able to get anything out of him."
"Don't worry, I can fix him," Han Yu replied calmly.
Shrugging off Captain America's hand, Han Yu delivered another crushing stomp, breaking all four of Jasper's limbs. Just as he prepared for another blow, Captain America finally intervened, unable to bear watching any longer.
Seeing Jasper's bloodied and broken state, Han Yu let out a long breath. He had never shown mercy to his enemies, and sparing Jasper's life was already the greatest leniency he could offer.
With a wave of his hand, Han Yu summoned a green energy field that enveloped Jasper. Within moments, his mangled limbs were completely healed, restored to their original state.
"Now, can you talk?" Han Yu asked, leaning back onto a nearby table and crossing his legs with a faint smile.
"I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!" Jasper exclaimed, drenched in sweat and blood. Though his body was healed, his clothes were still soaked, and he looked utterly defeated.
"The Zola Algorithm is a program," Jasper began, trembling. "It's used to select targets for Project Insight—to identify and eliminate anyone who poses a threat to Hydra."
Hearing this, Natasha was the most shocked. She hadn't expected Jasper to be a Hydra mole, nor that the Insight Project, a major S.H.I.E.L.D. initiative, would end up as a tool for Hydra's assassinations.
"But… the Insight Project is a S.H.I.E.L.D. operation! How could it become Hydra's weapon?" Natasha asked, her voice filled with disbelief.
"Alright," Han Yu interjected, "you've got the answers you wanted. Now it's my turn to get what I was promised."
Hearing this, Captain America let out a deep sigh. Taking out a secure phone, he dialed a number.
"Fury, it's me," he said. "Han Yu was right. Hydra has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D."
Both Natasha and Jasper visibly tensed at this revelation. Natasha was stunned by the revelation itself, while Jasper was horrified that Captain America had figured it out.
Natasha struggled to process it all. For years, she had thought she understood who she was lying for, but now, she realized she had been deceived all along.
"This… is it true?" Natasha asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"It's true," Captain America confirmed solemnly.
Han Yu responded. According to the original plan, Natasha was supposed to retrieve the information from the Limoria Star. However, before the operation, Nick Fury and the others arrived at Han Yu's store, learned about the situation, and Nick Fury decided not to assign that task to Natasha.
Jasper, still in disbelief, had thought Captain America only knew that Hydra was still active in the world, but he never expected that Captain America knew Hydra had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. He was left wondering how Captain America had discovered this.
Since Hydra's founder, Red Skull, was defeated seventy years ago, their operations became incredibly secretive, hidden in the shadows. They even claimed to have been destroyed, but in reality, they had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and were quietly waging a covert war.
Over the years, no one had detected their actions, as they were carried out under the guise of S.H.I.E.L.D.
After a brief silence, the voice on the phone said, "Understood. Thank you for your hard work. Tell Han Yu that I'll give him what he wants now. From now on, he can use his name to access our S.H.I.E.L.D. internal network."
Once the phone call ended, Captain America turned to Han Yu and said, "From now on, you can log into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal network using your name."
"It's him!"
Jasper turned and glared at Han Yu, his eyes filled with venom. He now understood that the reason Captain America knew about the Hydra infiltration was because of Han Yu.
"What are you looking at? Still not satisfied with the beating you just got?"
Jasper, in his rage, had completely forgotten who had beaten him moments earlier. Just as his vicious glare appeared, a hand seemed to grow larger in his vision, and in the next instant, he was slammed against the wall again.
This time, Captain America didn't intervene, allowing Han Yu to continue. He didn't show mercy to the enemy either—he knew that showing mercy on the battlefield was the same as being cruel to himself and his allies.
"Should we keep him alive?" Han Yu asked.
"Not needed. There's no one in Hydra who deserves to be kept alive." Captain America's tone was cold, a sharp contrast to his usual kindness.
As soon as the words left his mouth, a cold light flashed in the eyes of everyone present. The next moment, Jasper's body began to freeze from his feet up.
"No, no—"
Before he could finish speaking, Jasper turned into a statue of ice. Han Yu gently tapped the ice statue with the back of his knife, and the frozen form shattered with a loud crash, breaking into countless shards of ice. He was as good as dead.
Looking at the scattered ice shards, both Captain America and Natasha couldn't help but feel a sense of sorrow. Just a day ago, Jasper had been their colleague, but now he had become their enemy.
"All done. Let's head back."
Han Yu acted as if nothing unusual had happened. To him, Jasper was no more significant than an ant, someone whose existence couldn't even make a ripple in his life.
As he stepped out of the room, a voice suddenly echoed in Han Yu's mind from the store's system, causing his eyes to widen in surprise.
"Hidden task completed: [The Struggle Between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra]. Reward: Decade's Transformation Device."
"Triggering long-term task: [The Power of the Debt King]!"
