Chapter 83: Chapter 83: The Upgrade of the Vibranium Shield
Seeing Han Yu deep in thought, Captain America and his companions wisely refrained from interrupting. They simply stood in place, casually looking around the shop.
After about a minute or two, Han Yu raised his head with a smile. "I've got a solution. But what are you going to trade for it?"
"Name your price. If it's reasonable, we'll pay," Captain America replied. This time, they came prepared with both S.H.I.E.L.D.'s budget and Stark's sponsorship, amounting to billions of dollars. They were confident that upgrading a shield would easily fit within their budget.
"I don't want money. I'm not interested in it," Han Yu said with a faint smile. "I only accept bartering."
By now, Han Yu had no shortage of money. With the success of GTA V, his earnings were increasing steadily, rendering money a secondary concern for him.
"Bartering? But I don't have anything of equal value to trade," Captain America said with a wry smile. He had always lived a modest life, without extravagant hobbies or spending. His savings amounted to just a few hundred thousand dollars—hardly sufficient.
"Who says you don't?" Han Yu chuckled, pointing at Captain America's chest. "A vial of your blood, and I'll do it."
"My blood? Are you sure? If you're hoping to create another super-soldier like me, it won't work. S.H.I.E.L.D. already tried," Captain America replied honestly. He couldn't imagine why Han Yu would want his blood—unless it was for cloning super-soldiers. Otherwise, what would he do with it? Make soup?
"Don't worry about that. I have my uses for it. Just tell me—yes or no?" Han Yu said firmly.
Captain America glanced at Nick Fury, who nodded. Fury also believed that the blood was of little value. S.H.I.E.L.D. had long experimented with Captain America's blood to replicate the super-soldier serum, but they had never succeeded.
In the 70 years since Captain America had been frozen, no other super-soldier had emerged, proving how challenging it was to recreate the serum.
"So, how do we draw it?" Captain America asked.
Han Yu raised an eyebrow, and green tendrils of light floated toward Captain America, wrapping around his arms. With a claw-like gesture of his right hand, Han Yu pulled gently, and crimson droplets began to flow along the green light.
Within ten seconds, the blood coalesced into a floating green orb. At its center was a fist-sized sphere of vibrant red blood.
With a wave of his hand, Han Yu brought the orb closer. It transformed into a shimmering green jade bottle containing Captain America's blood.
"Alright, I've got what I need. Now it's your turn," Han Yu said.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, and a white glow appeared in his free hand. Two leather-bound books, surrounded by a red ribbon and emitting a purple radiance, materialized in his palm.
"These are Level 3 Enchantment Books—Loyalty. As a bonus for being a new customer, I'm throwing in a Level 3 Thorns Enchantment Book," Han Yu said with a smile.
The books were tools from a game Han Yu had loved in his previous life—Minecraft. They were used to enchant weapons and equipment with special effects.
The Loyalty enchantment was unique, originally designed for tridents. However, thanks to the general store's system, Han Yu had modified it to apply to other weapons, including shields.
Han Yu handed the books to Captain America.
"Enchantment books, huh? Interesting. Let me take a look," Stark said, intrigued.
Curious about the glowing books, Stark tried to open one. No matter how hard he pulled, the book wouldn't budge—it was as solid as a slab of marble.
The frustration was reminiscent of his futile attempts to lift Thor's hammer. After struggling for a while, Stark, now sweating slightly, handed the books to Captain America and his team. His breathing uneven, he turned to Han Yu and asked: "So... how does this work?"
"How do you use this? I can't open it at all."
Captain America also tried to open the enchantment book with force, but it wouldn't budge. If even he couldn't open it, then it was clear this method wasn't going to work.
"That's not how it works. Give it to me, and I'll enchant your shield right now," Han Yu said with a smile. He gestured for the book, took it from Captain America, and then pulled out something from the general store system with a "ding" sound as it landed on the ground. It was an anvil, about the height of a person.
Han Yu lightly tapped the anvil, and a window appeared in front of everyone. On the left side of the window was a silver hammer, and at the top was the text: Item Repair and Naming.
Even Stark, who had seen many things, was stunned by this strange forging method. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief and stared, unblinking, at the floating window.
Han Yu smiled and placed the two enchantment books on the leftmost two slots. As he did so, another book appeared in the right slot. When he took it, even Stark and the others could see a line of description under the enchantment books.
Thorns III, Loyalty III.
"Why is it only Level 3? Don't you have a Level 1 version?" Stark asked.
Han Yu smiled and replied, "These two books only have up to Level 3. Level 1 is the basic level."
"Oh, I see. Continue, then," Stark said, laughing awkwardly. He thought there might be levels higher than 3, but Han Yu hadn't mentioned that.
There were indeed higher levels, but these two enchantment books only went up to level 3.
After combining the attributes of the two enchantment books, Han Yu placed Captain America's shield in the leftmost slot, with the books in the middle slot. He then took the upgraded shield from the rightmost slot.
As the shield emerged from the anvil, a faint purple glow, identical to the enchantment books, covered its surface and flickered softly. At that moment, Captain America felt an odd sensation, almost as if he could sense the shield in front of him.
"Here, you can try it now," Han Yu said, holding the shield and smiling at Captain America.
Captain America stepped forward to take the shield, but saw Han Yu shake his head and step back a few paces. Understanding the implication, Captain America raised his arm and cautiously said, "Come back?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the vibranium shield flew out of Han Yu's hand and soared toward Captain America.
Han Yu smiled, but Captain America and his companions were stunned. The shield really did fly back on its own!
"Did it really work?"
Captain America, still in disbelief, held the shield out in front of him, and with a soft call, the shield flew right back to him.
"You don't need to speak. Just think about it in your mind, and it will return. You can also control the light effects on the shield with your thoughts," Han Yu said, grinning.
Captain America tried again. As before, the vibranium shield flew back to him, and the light effects responded to his will, glowing brightly when he desired.
"This is amazing!"
