JoJo's bizarre adventure: Phantom legacy

Chapter 2: Fighting a thief, Manifesting a stand

"Young Ethan, are you sure you're feeling well?" a middle-aged man asked, his tone filled with concern. He watched as Ethan slowly opened the car door and stepped out with a sigh.

As Ethan's driver, he couldn't help but worry about his health.

Ethan glanced at his driver and said, "I'm fine, Jeffrey. If I was really injured, there'd be a wound on my hand. They don't heal in mere hours, you know."

He chuckled, raising his hand to show Jeffrey it was unscathed. In truth, the wound had vanished the moment he gained his Stand.

As Ethan approached the gate, he paused and turned back to Jeffrey. "I don't plan on going anywhere this weekend, so use that time as you please. And say hi to the kids for me," he said with a faint smile.

Jeffrey's face lit up with excitement. "Thank you, young Ethan!" he replied enthusiastically before starting the car and driving away.

Ethan approached the gate, entered the access code, and watched as it slowly opened, revealing a small yet luxurious villa.

The grass surrounding the house was overgrown, and fallen leaves from the trees scattered across the yard, creating a messy scene.

Though he could have moved to a better-maintained place, Ethan stayed because this villa held memories of the time he mostly spent with his parents before their deaths.

Walking toward the villa, he glanced at the unkempt ground with a sense of nostalgia and thought:

'Maybe I should call the groundskeeper tomorrow.'

Reaching the door, he opened it with a sigh, immediately noticing the disarray inside.

Dropping his school bag onto the couch, he headed to the kitchen, spending a few minutes preparing jjajangmyeon.

Once finished, he returned to the couch, sat down, and began eating in silence, lost in his thoughts.

The lonely atmosphere of dining alone was nothing new to him. After all, he didn't have relatives he could truly call family.

Those who tried to get close to him always had ulterior motives, eyeing a share of his inheritance.

To protect his legacy, he had no choice but to isolate himself, shutting out anyone who might betray his trust...except a few who he liked.

Rumble Rumble Rumble!!!

"It's raining huh"

Ethan murmured as thunder echoed outside.

Glancing at the window, he noticed small raindrops and flashes of lightning. The rain quickly grew heavier, prompting him to finish his meal in a hurry.

"I'll wash the dishes tomorrow," he decided, standing up and placing his plate in the sink. He locked the doors, grabbed his bag from the couch, and headed straight to his room.

As soon as Ethan entered his room, he removed his school uniform, revealing his sculpted, lean physique.

He walked over to his wardrobe, pulled out a two-piece pajama set with an Egyptian print, and quickly put it on.

Ethan paused, a sense of forgetfulness creeping over him. He quickly remembered he needed to charge his phone.

Moving to his bag, he pulled it out and plugged it in near the headboard, Afterward, he slowly slid under the sheets of his bed, settling in as he prepared to sleep.

'That Rosalina chick must have been high. Stands, my ass. The only stand I know is an upright position.

What's next vampires, aliens, zombies, ghosts? Does she think the internet is a joke? She's acting like there's some organization hiding the truth or something Tsk this supernatural bull is crap'

Ethan slowly mulled over everything that had happened during the day, but eventually, he dismissed the thoughts.

With a deep breath, he closed his eyes and drifted into slumber.

....

SHATTER!!!!

The sound of something breaking echoed throughout the entire villa, jolting Ethan awake.

'What is that?'

He thought silently as he slowly exited his bed sheets and tried to turn on the lights. But he froze, hearing voices from somewhere nearby. He listened closely.

"You fool! The brat may be absent, but do you want to alert the neighbors? Do you know how long it took me to prepare for this job?"

Ethan paused, taking a moment to process. It didn't take long for him to reach a simple conclusion...he was getting robbed.

'My day keeps getting better and better. Judging by what they're saying, they've been monitoring my patterns for a long time... they don't know I'm home, so I have an advantage... but how did they get inside?'

Ethan didn't dare switch on his phone, knowing it would make noise and alert the burglars.

He understood he had to move quickly as these intruders were planning to clean his place out.

Ethan didn't have a weapon to defend himself, so he moved cautiously, silently stepping out of his room.

He made his way toward his father's hidden room, hoping to find something he could use.

But as he continued down the hallway, a cold, hard object suddenly pressed against the back of his head.

Cling!!!

"Ahhhh, don't move! You thought you were being slick, huh?"

Ethan froze in fear. As he turned around, he noticed a silhouette wearing a burglar's uniform, and a single thought rushed through his mind:

'How did he catch me? I was being so careful. Are they going to silence me?'

Ethan steadied himself and looked at the burglar. Calmly, he asked, "How did you notice me?"

The burglar chuckled. "I thought you'd be pissing yourself by now. If I were you, I'd be confused too, considering how careful you were."

He stepped closer, still grinning. "Every day you leave for school, we set up motion sensors and scout the place. The moment you left your room you alerted me."

The burglar's grin widened. "Let me shoot your leg, and then we can make better plans for you."

Ethan's mind raced, piecing everything together.

'Someone gave these people access to my house.'

It quickly became clear to him that the burglars had been monitoring his routine, but they must have stopped paying close attention halfway through since they didn't know he was home.

This one in front of him had caught him by chance without alerting the others.

Ethan understood now: if he tried to fight, he might stand a chance, but it was already too late.

Boom!

The bullet fired from the gun, aiming for Ethan's leg. In that moment, Ethan felt a surge of desire to protect himself, and a hand immediately caught the bullet, surprising the burglar.

"What the hell?!" The burglar murmured in disbelief.

From his perspective, the bullet was just floating in midair. In fear, he quickly aimed the gun at Ethan again and fired all the remaining bullets.

"VRA-DA!!!" A battle cry roared as Ethan's stand emerged, swiftly catching every bullet in the blink of an eye.

Ethan looked at his stand, noticing its humanoid form with a muscular build and a sleek, metallic frame. Its body was adorned with glowing patterns resembling ancient hieroglyphics, emitting a radiant glow.

Its head had sharp, angular designs, with glowing eyes that faintly illuminated the darkness. The face was simple but imposing.

The stand's limbs were long and sturdy, tapering into claw-like fingers. Its overall color scheme was a striking mix of deep purples and gold accents.

"What the hell is this? Is it witchcraft? How can bullets stop midair?" The burglar shouted as he scrambled to run, alerted by his failed attack.

"VRA-DA!!!" The stand immediately appeared before the burglar, slamming him into the ground, causing Ethan's mouth to hang open in surprise.

The stand dragged the burglar back to Ethan with a prideful walk.

Ethan, still processing what had just happened, looked at the unconscious burglar in front of him.

Despite his shock at Rosalina's words coming true, the situation didn't allow him the time to ask any questions.

"I haven't planned much... What am I supposed to do now?" Ethan murmured to himself, feeling defeated.

"VRA-DA!!!" His stand roared again, raising a hand.

With a swift gesture, a small door manifested on the ground before them, glowing with faint golden symbols along its edges.

It was a simple wooden door, no larger than a standard trapdoor, about a meter high, just wide enough for an adult to slip through unnoticed.

The door appeared directly on the ground, its edges glowing softly in the dim light.

It had a deep black color, with golden symbols pulsing in a way that mirrored the stand's aura.

The door opened instantly, revealing the top view of his kitchen beyond, where a burglar was casually helping himself with his food.

Suddenly, information regarding his stand flooded his mind.

He understood now. His stand had three abilities, and this one was called Gatekeeper.

Gatekeeper allowed the stand to open doors functioning as portals to any location the user had previously visited or could vividly recall.

These doors varied in size and range depending on the user's will , able to transport objects, people, or entire structures.

Ethan took a breath.

'Well, it looks like he's alone. I can deal with him now.'
