Chapter 95 - The Intersection of Past and Future, Two Yoruichi Shihouin!
Karakura Town High School.
Ichigo's face suddenly changed in the classroom as he sensed a completely unfamiliar spiritual pressure. Muttering, "Who could this be?" he didn't hesitate and pressed his Substitute Shinigami Badge against his chest. In the next moment, his soul separated from his body, and in his Shinigami form, he used Shunpo to head toward the unfamiliar spiritual pressure.
Meanwhile, his body slumped over the desk, appearing to be asleep.
Ishida Uryū, seated in the row ahead, watched Ichigo's departure with furrowed brows, muttering, "When did Kurosaki become a Shinigami?"
In the back row, Chad (Sado) sensed something, glanced at Ichigo's seemingly sleeping form, and then returned his gaze forward, not having seen Ichigo in his Shinigami form.
An old apartment in Karakura Town
This apartment was the base for Xcution, a group of Fullbringers. Ginjō, sipping on a glass of whiskey, paused, directing his gaze toward Gilgamesh's location. The other Fullbringers also turned their attention to where the spiritual pressure originated.
Tsukishima, who had been reading a book, closed it and remarked, "That scale of spiritual pressure belongs to a Captain-level Shinigami."
"Should I check it out?" he offered.
Ginjō put down his glass and said, "I'll go with you. It's a good excuse to stretch our legs."
Without further words, Tsukishima stood up and headed outside.
An abandoned factory in Karakura Town
This was the hideout for the Visoreds, former Shinigami turned into masked beings due to Aizen's experiments. The members, including Shinji, also turned their attention toward Gilgamesh's location.
Frowning, Shinji said, "That spiritual pressure is unfamiliar. Is it a new Captain?"
Next to him, Lisa adjusted her glasses, suggesting, "He's removed his limiter. Could he be in a crisis?"
In the Soul Society, it's mandated that Captains and Lieutenants apply limiters before entering the World of the Living to prevent undue impact. These limiters are only removed with approval when necessary.
Kensei questioned, "What crisis in Karakura Town would require a Captain to remove their limiter? Is there an invasion by an Adjuchas-class Menos?"
The others shared his confusion.
Hiyori, the hot-headed one, spat out, "Instead of guessing, why don't we just go see for ourselves?"
With that, she used Shunpo to rush toward Gilgamesh's location.
Seeing this, Shinji cursed, "That idiot! Has she considered this could be Aizen's trap?"
Despite his words, he chased after her to prevent her from acting recklessly.
Urahara Shop.
Urahara Kisuke also sensed Gilgamesh's spiritual pressure, furrowing his brows. He didn't recognize this spiritual pressure, and after searching his memory, he still couldn't place it.
Given the released limiter, he knew something must have happened.
Karakura Town was his base for opposing Aizen, and he couldn't afford any incidents.
Thinking this, Urahara opened his fan, half-covering his face, and muttered, "Or maybe this is Aizen's doing."
A cheerful female voice nearby asked, "Should we go check it out?"
Future Yoruichi appeared beside him.
Urahara Kisuke smiled, "Of course, we should."
"If it's Aizen's doing, we need to see what he's planning."
Future Yoruichi vanished, leaving only her voice behind, "I'll go ahead."
In his black cat form, Yoruichi finally understood Gilgamesh's "stupid method."
Releasing Captain-level spiritual pressure was indeed a blunt approach, bound to attract unnecessary trouble, including unwelcome attention and a response from the Soul Society.
The Technological Development Department of the Twelfth Division constantly monitored the World of the Living. Gilgamesh's spiritual pressure would certainly be detected, likely resulting in several Captains being dispatched to investigate. This could lead to severe consequences for any regular Captain-level Shinigami.
But Gilgamesh was different. He had defeated the strongest Shinigami in a millennium, Yamamoto. The Soul Society would hesitate to punish him for this incident.
Moreover, this Gilgamesh came from the past. If he could defeat Yamamoto then, his future self would only have grown stronger.
Yoruichi began to wonder about the future Gilgamesh's prowess, hoping his ideals had been realized, and the glory of the Kingdom of Uruk shone throughout the Soul Society.
As she pondered, a stern voice interrupted, "Who are you?"
She turned to see an orange-haired youth in Shinigami attire, Ichigo, hovering in the air.
The past Yoruichi didn't recognize him, assuming he was a local Shinigami.
Gilgamesh, however, knew him but chose to ask, "Don't you recognize me?"
Ichigo paused, examining Gilgamesh closely before shaking his head, "I don't know you."
Through his Omniscient Star, Gilgamesh saw Ichigo wasn't lying; he genuinely didn't know him.
Frowning, Gilgamesh continued, "Have you heard of the Kingdom of Uruk and Gilgamesh?"
Ichigo's expression turned strange as he answered, "I've heard of the Kingdom of Uruk and Gilgamesh."
"If I recall correctly, Gilgamesh is the hero of the Epic of Gilgamesh, the fifth king of Uruk, and the 'oldest hero king of humanity.'"
Hearing this, Gilgamesh gauged the timeline.
According to his plan, after decades, the Kingdom of Uruk should have flourished in the Soul Society. If Ichigo had been there, his first thought should have been of the Uruk Kingdom and Gilgamesh in the Soul Society, not the mythical ones.
This indicated they were before Ichigo had ever visited the Soul Society.
However, this timeline might have changed since Gilgamesh had already recruited Rukia.
Gilgamesh then asked, "Do you know Urahara Kisuke?"
"Urahara Kisuke?" Ichigo found the name familiar but was certain he didn't know him. This odd feeling made Ichigo impatient, "Hey, enough of your questions. I asked who you are first. If you don't answer, don't blame me for being rude."
Before Gilgamesh could respond, Yoruichi, in cat form, interjected, "Didn't the King already tell you who he is?"
Ichigo was confused, not understanding her, but then exclaimed in shock, "A talking cat!"
He then froze, a fleeting memory of a similar scene crossing his mind, as if he'd experienced this before.
At that moment, the Visoreds arrived, hiding in the shadows to observe.
Hot-headed Hiyori was bound and gagged to prevent her from acting rashly, wriggling like a worm on Shinji's shoulder.
None of them paid her any mind, their attention captured by Gilgamesh, not just because of his striking appearance but also his Shin'ō Academy uniform.
This confirmed to Kensei that Gilgamesh was a student, causing him to exclaim, "An academy student with Captain-level spiritual pressure? When did the Soul Society produce such a genius?"
Shinji, though casual in tone, was equally shocked, "Wow, the rookies these days are terrifying."
Hachigen worried, "Could this be Aizen's plot?"
Lisa, wearing a sailor uniform and looking like a cute schoolgirl, remarked, "I don't know if it's Aizen's plot, but I want to take him home and 'pamper' him."
Her friends knew Lisa was a pervert, often reading inappropriate books, so her serious declaration wasn't surprising.
Their attention was drawn to Gilgamesh's actions.
Ichigo, meanwhile, wondered if this handsome student with extraordinary spiritual pressure was friend or foe, as he didn't recognize him.
Gilgamesh asked, "Ichigo, do you know Yoruichi?"
Hearing his name, Ichigo was startled that this stranger knew him but not the mentioned person.
Feeling a growing sense of discomfort, Ichigo prepared to attack, but before he could, a shadow appeared behind Gilgamesh, attempting to grab him.
A mature, cold voice questioned, "Kid, who are you, and how do you know me?"
Gilgamesh dodged the grab with Shunpo and faced the newcomer, frowning, "Yoruichi, don't you recognize me?"
Indeed, it was Yoruichi, but from the future.
Ready to attack again, future Yoruichi paused at Gilgamesh's words, "Who are you, and why should I know you?"
Before Gilgamesh could reply, the cat Yoruichi in his arms demanded, "Yoruichi, how can you not recognize the King?"
King? Future Yoruichi looked down, finally noticing the cat in Gilgamesh's arms.
Shocked, she stammered, "You... you're..."
The cat Yoruichi transformed, revealing her true form.
Everyone present, hidden or visible, fell silent, astonished.
The Visoreds, initially suspicious, saw another Yoruichi emerge, making them question their senses.
Even Urahara, arriving late, was bewildered by the sight of two Yoruichis.
Both appeared genuine, leaving Urahara confused since Yoruichi had no twin.
Future Yoruichi, staring at her doppelgänger, forced herself to ask, "Who are you, and why do you look like me?"
The past Yoruichi smirked, "Imitating? I don't need to. I am Yoruichi Shihouin."
Future Yoruichi's gaze turned cold, emitting a threatening aura, knowing words were futile. She had to capture this impostor to get answers.
Using Shunpo, she lunged, and past Yoruichi met her with equal speed, saying, "Let's see how much you've grown in these decades, Yoruichi Shihouin!"
Gilgamesh and Ichigo stepped back, observing the battle.
The two Yoruichis clashed with identical Shunpo and combat skills, shocking future Yoruichi, realizing her opponent mirrored her perfectly.
Accepting that words were futile, future Yoruichi decided to use her trump card, yelling, "Shunko!"
In sync, past Yoruichi also shouted, "Shunko!"
High-compression Kidō wrapped around their shoulders and backs, releasing immense power.
Future Yoruichi, deeply shocked, couldn't process this as she fought fiercely.
The Visoreds and Urahara, watching, were equally stunned by the identical combatants.
They began to entertain the absurd notion that both might indeed be Yoruichi.
Ginjō and Tsukishima, also observing, found the scene intriguing.
The fierce battle continued, both Yoruichis equally matched, prompting past Yoruichi to taunt, "You've stagnated, Yoruichi. How can you keep up with the King like this?"
Catching key words, future Yoruichi, shocked, asked, "Are you my past self?"
Past Yoruichi confirmed, "Yes, I'm you from the past."
Her serious expression urging future Yoruichi, "Show me your progress. Don't disappoint me."
Future Yoruichi, reluctantly accepting this, prepared her advanced technique, surrounded by lightning forming a six-drummed halo and horns.
Past Yoruichi recognized, "Shunko: Raijin Senkei!"
Believing her, future Yoruichi demanded, "Who is he, and why call him 'King'?"
Past Yoruichi, also sensing something wrong, wondered why future Yoruichi didn't know Gilgamesh.
What had happened to this world?
