In Bleach as Gilgamesh

Chapter 94: Chapter 94 - Inoue Orihime? A Future World?

Chapter 94 - Inoue Orihime? A Future World?

Kirio, Urahara's predecessor as the Captain of the Twelfth Division, was promoted to the Zero Division for creating the "Mod Souls" and the technique to insert them into bodies. Mod Souls are the precursors to the current Soul Candy.

One of Kirio's abilities is to cook dishes infused with the essence of Mod Souls, which can dramatically increase one's spiritual pressure. In the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, Ichigo and Renji's spiritual pressure skyrockets after eating her cooking.

However, this ability has a drawback. Every time she cooks, she uses up all her spiritual pressure, causing her body to become emaciated. She must accumulate fat regularly to withstand the strain.

This is why Gilgamesh's spiritual pressure soared.

Just as Shutara's craftsmanship captivated him, so did Kirio's cooking, which he deemed a treasure worth keeping.

After bidding farewell to Shutara and Kirio, Gilgamesh returned to the Soul Society aboard Vimana.

The next day, Muramasa found Gilgamesh.

If it weren't for Central 46's conspiracy, Gilgamesh would have taken Muramasa to the World of the Living to deal with Kōga Kuchiki.

But after learning about Central 46's scheme, Gilgamesh changed his plans.

According to the Spirit King's vision of the future, Gilgamesh would disappear from the three realms for a time.

To ensure the upper echelons of the Soul Society wouldn't target his companions or the Kingdom of Uruk during his absence, Gilgamesh decided to give them something to occupy themselves with.

This involved accelerating Muramasa's rebellion, originally planned for later in the timeline.

Though termed a rebellion, it was more of an attempt by Muramasa and the Zanpakutō to establish their ideal world.

In the original timeline, Muramasa hid for years, seeking and absorbing Hollows to bolster his strength.

With Gilgamesh's help, Muramasa had long surpassed his original strength. Without Gilgamesh's assistance, Muramasa's sanity would have been eroded by the Hollows, leading to a loss of self.

This meant that under Gilgamesh's orders, Muramasa's rebellion would be more chaotic than in the original storyline.

After instructing Muramasa, Gilgamesh added, "Restrain yourself and don't reveal your full power."

"Remember, the goal of this revolution is to keep the Soul Society busy, ensuring they can't target my companions or the Kingdom of Uruk. It's not to start a war."

Pausing, Gilgamesh continued, "This time, there's no Child of Destiny to save the Soul Society."

"But I don't mind playing the 'Child of Destiny.'"

"Drag out this rebellion until I return, then help me stage a grand performance to win hearts."

Muramasa knelt before Gilgamesh, nodding respectfully, "As you command."

Over the past month, Muramasa had witnessed the beauty of the Kingdom of Uruk and Gilgamesh's charisma, almost fully earning his loyalty.

The reason it was "almost" was due to a lingering attachment to Kōga.

With the Omniscient Star, Gilgamesh was aware of this but didn't mind.

Muramasa's complete loyalty was just a matter of time, and Gilgamesh wasn't in a hurry.

After waving Muramasa off, Gilgamesh eagerly anticipated the "surprise" awaiting the Soul Society's leaders.

Gilgamesh then resumed his ordinary academy life.

The following day, before departing for the World of the Living for their soul burial practice, Gilgamesh, Renji, and Rukia collected their Hell Butterflies.

Hell Butterflies guide Shinigami through the Dangai to the World of the Living, ensuring safe passage.

Each Shinigami heading to the World of the Living must have a Hell Butterfly.

After receiving their Hell Butterflies, Gilgamesh, Renji, and Rukia headed to the Senkaimon at the Shin'ō Academy.

The Senkaimon resembled a traditional Japanese sliding door. Many first-year students gathered, excitedly greeting Gilgamesh and showing their goodwill, including members of his fan club and some who had already pledged loyalty to him.

Gilgamesh responded courteously to each one.

Soon, all thirty students in this batch had gathered.

Three upperclassmen stood before the Senkaimon. The one in the middle introduced himself, "My name is Hisagi. The shorter one is Kaizawa, and the taller one is Seika. We'll be your guides today."

The crowd erupted in whispers.

"That's Hisagi Shūhei!"

"Who?"

"The one in the middle, Hisagi Shūhei."

"It's been years since anyone was allowed to join the Gotei 13 before graduation, but he's already been approved!"

"He's a future star destined to become a seated officer."

"Is that impressive? Compared to Gilgamesh, he's nothing."

"How can you compare anyone to Gilgamesh? He's in a league of his own."

Gilgamesh regarded Hisagi thoughtfully. He knew Hisagi would become a seated officer and the future Vice-Captain of the Ninth Division.

But for now, Hisagi was just a student at the Shin'ō Academy, not yet having developed his Asauchi into a Zanpakutō.

As Hisagi explained the procedures, he couldn't help but glance at Gilgamesh, who stood out like a beacon among the students.

"Today's group consists of thirty students. I'll divide you into ten teams of three. Form your teams voluntarily, and we'll sort the rest."

After Hisagi's instructions, the students quickly formed groups. Naturally, Gilgamesh, Renji, and Rukia teamed up.

Once the teams were set, Hisagi turned to the Senkaimon, raising his Asauchi, and commanded, "Unlock!"

The Senkaimon opened, and the three upperclassmen led the way, followed by the new students.

Gilgamesh intentionally stayed at the back, ready to protect his followers if needed.

As Gilgamesh entered the Dangai, the Senkaimon closed behind him.

Hisagi's voice echoed, "Stay alert, follow your Hell Butterflies, and don't stray."

"Remember, the purple gas around us is the Koryū, which prevents soul movement. If covered, you'll be trapped in the Dangai forever."

BOOM!

A deafening sound and a violent tremor interrupted Hisagi.

Everyone turned to see a strange purple creature with a yellow light on its head, rushing toward them like a train.

Hisagi paled and yelled, "Run! It's the Kōtotsu!"

The Kōtotsu, a cleaning mechanism in the Dangai, appears every seven days to eliminate anything in its path.

Shinigami's spiritual pressure is ineffective against it, even for Captain-level Shinigami.

The students panicked and fled, focusing solely on survival.

Hisagi grimaced. The Dangai's timing should have been coordinated to avoid the Kōtotsu. How had this happened?

Instinctively, he glanced back and saw Gilgamesh standing firm, facing the Kōtotsu, with Renji and Rukia behind him.

'What are they doing?'

'Do they intend to stop the Kōtotsu?'

'Don't they know Shinigami can't fight the Kōtotsu?'

Before Hisagi could react, a golden ripple appeared beside Gilgamesh, revealing a sword.

Hisagi couldn't see it clearly but watched as Gilgamesh swung the sword at the Kōtotsu.

A brilliant stream of light illuminated the dark Dangai, striking the Kōtotsu with immense force.

BOOM!

The explosion's shockwave disrupted the Koryū, causing chaos.

Hisagi lost sight of them as he exited the Dangai into the World of the Living.

The other upperclassmen and new students followed, collapsing in relief.

Hisagi stared at the Senkaimon, hoping to see Gilgamesh, Renji, and Rukia emerge.

But the Senkaimon closed, and they didn't appear.

Believing Gilgamesh sacrificed himself to save them, Hisagi fought back tears, filled with sorrow.

He thought Gilgamesh had stayed behind to buy them time, allowing them to escape.

Moments later, students noticed their absence, panicking.

"Where are Renji and Rukia?"

"Gilgamesh is missing too?"

"They must have been swallowed by the Kōtotsu. We have to save them!"

"Gilgamesh would never be defeated by the Kōtotsu. He can use Shunpo!"

"Maybe he stayed behind to save Renji and Rukia."

Frustrated by the noise, Hisagi shouted, "Quiet!"

Silence fell as everyone turned to him.

Taking a deep breath, Hisagi said, "I saw it. Gilgamesh stayed behind to hold off the Kōtotsu so we could escape."

"You all saw that final flash of light. That was Gilgamesh's Zanpakutō in Shikai. He sacrificed himself to save us."

Stunned, the students began to cry.

Meanwhile, Gilgamesh, holding the black cat form of Yoruichi, stood dazed.

"Be careful!"

A voice shouted, and someone grabbed Gilgamesh, pulling him aside.

He and Yoruichi turned to see a young woman.

Gilgamesh was stunned. It was Inoue Orihime, an important supporting character in Bleach and Ichigo's future wife.

But Orihime shouldn't exist in his current timeline.

Yoruichi didn't recognize Orihime and scanned the surroundings, finding herself in an unfamiliar, bustling modern city.

Gilgamesh noticed the futuristic environment, realizing it was decades ahead of his timeline.

Muttering, he said, "I've traveled to the future!"

The Spirit King had predicted he'd go to Hell, a realm outside the three worlds, matching Central 46's plot.

But he'd ended up in the future instead.

Why hadn't the Spirit King foreseen this?

Orihime noticed the black cat in Gilgamesh's arms and exclaimed, "This cat looks like Miss Yoruichi."

Yoruichi, startled, asked, "Who are you? How do you know me?"

Orihime began to respond but stopped, eyes wide, "A talking cat!"

Her outburst drew the attention of passersby.

As spirits, Gilgamesh and Yoruichi were invisible to humans, making Orihime seem like she was talking to herself.

People glanced at her with pity, fear, and concern, assuming she was mentally ill.

Seeing this, Gilgamesh said, "If you don't want more people thinking you're crazy, we should talk elsewhere."

Realizing her situation, Orihime blushed and quickly led Gilgamesh away.

Yoruichi, wanting to say more, was silenced by Gilgamesh's look.

Through his Omniscient Star, Gilgamesh sensed that Orihime's thoughts about Yoruichi had vanished, along with her knowledge of spirits.

Something was wrong with this world.

Renji and Rukia were also missing but safe, so Gilgamesh didn't worry.

Suddenly, Orihime stopped, letting go of Gilgamesh, looking confused, "I was going to buy groceries. Why am I heading home?"

Turning, she walked away, leaving Yoruichi bewildered.

If not for her genuine confusion, Yoruichi would have thought Orihime was acting.

What was going on?

Why did Orihime's behavior change so rapidly, as if her memories were altered?

Gilgamesh, watching her, thought, 'Again.'

Orihime's thoughts had shifted, sealing away her ability to see spirits.

While he could sense her thoughts, he couldn't read her memories.

Perhaps Urahara Kisuke would have answers.

"Yoruichi, this is the future. We need to find Urahara Kisuke."

"Do you know how?"

Still processing, Yoruichi said, "The future world?"

Gilgamesh nodded.

Shaken, Yoruichi searched for familiar landmarks but found none, muttering, "If he's still here, he'd be at the Urahara Shop, but I can't find it without a spirit trail."

Gilgamesh sighed, "We'll use a more direct method."

Before Yoruichi could react, Gilgamesh soared into the air, releasing a Captain-level reiatsu of a million.

BOOM!

Instantly, curious gazes from all over Karakura Town focused on him.
