Chapter 1319: The Secret of Resurrection Island
After Aggron and Tyranitar got together, they never planned to return to their own tribe. However, due to repeated harassment from Aggron's brother, the couple moved to the other side of the island, not far from the Nido family.
They lived peacefully for a while, but soon Aggronn's brother found them again. This time, Tyranitar was pregnant and about to give birth, leaving her unable to help Aggronf end off the brother's attacks.
To protect his wife, who was about to give birth, Aggron led his brother away by himself. But he was no match for his brother, and after being beaten nearly to death, it was only because the brother had been careless and thought Aggron was dead that Aggron didn't lose his life at that moment.
When Tyranitar finished giving birth and dragged her exhausted body to find Aggron, he was already on the brink of death.
Since then, Tyranitar had done everything she could to treat Aggron's wounds, even using up all the treasures she had collected.
After Tyranitar was defeated by Aggron, the reason no treasures were found in her cave was because she had used all of her collection to trade with other Pokémon for medicinal herbs to treat Aggron. Otherwise, a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon on the verge of reaching Master level, wouldn't have had any reserves left.
At first, under the treatment of some precious medicinal herbs, Aggron would occasionally regain some consciousness. During this time, he witnessed the hatching of their daughter and spent some brief, sweet moments with her.
But since Aggron's injuries had affected his essence, relying solely on precious herbs could only provide temporary relief. His condition soon began to deteriorate rapidly. Other herbs couldn't help at all, and eventually, he fell into a deep sleep.
That was when Tyranitar thought of Revival Herb. She went to the Nido family's territory to ask for a plant, but was refused.
Tyranitar even resorted to force to try to seize it, but with Nidoqueen present, how could she possibly succeed?
So, Tyranitar realized that her only hope lay in seeking help from Aerodactyl. By then, her savings had been depleted, and the only thing left that Aerodactyl might find valuable was her strength.
After hearing Aggron and Tyranitar's story, Yuga couldn't help but feel moved and sighed. "These two really have a strong bond. How many human couples can truly share life and death together?"
Seeing the couple still a bit lovey-dovey, Yuga bluntly told them it was getting late and suggested they rest early since there was still much time ahead.
That night, Yuga fell asleep after receiving a lot of "dog food" from them.
The next day, Yuga and the others began discussions with the Nido family about trading for Revival Herb.
Initially, the Joy family's proposal was just to exchange Max Revive for some mature Revival Herb and then bring it back to plant more.
But the Nido family was dissatisfied. Yuga and the others would take the grass and leave, and once their Max Revive ran out, who would they turn to for more?
The Nido family had fully realized the benefits of Max Revive. Many of their key members were saved during the recent battle thanks to Max Revive. Not only were their injuries healed, but they also didn't lose any levels or suffer memory loss.
As a result, they wanted a long-term source of Max Revive.
Unfortunately, the Nido family couldn't learn how to make the Max Revive themselves. They were too clumsy and incapable of operating the necessary equipment for making the medicine. To get Max Revive, they had to rely on the Joy family.
Additionally, some of the materials needed to make the Max Revive didn't come from the islands.
This left Yuga and his group in a difficult situation. Joyin from the Joy family couldn't stay here forever, and it would be hard for the Joy family to send someone to stay permanently.
The island was too far from the human world, and there were too many dangers to consider for long-term stationed personnel.
Not to mention the unpredictable dangers that would come with traveling by sea from the Kanto Region to here.
In the seas far from the human world, countless powerful Pokémon live, some even possessing extremely strong aggression. Without sufficient strength, it is impossible to cross the vast ocean and reach this place.
If the Joy family were to station someone here, they would need to make frequent trips between the island and the Kanto continent, which would be too costly and unsustainable for them.
Yuga couldn't always be their bodyguard, could he?
This is also why the Joy family, despite knowing the island is rich in treasures, has never considered developing it.
Furthermore, after obtaining the Revival Herb this time, the Joy family's own cultivation of Revival Herb has already grown large enough, and they can now achieve self-sufficiency. There is no need to trade with the Nido family.
The profits from such a trade wouldn't even compare to the losses they'd incur from traveling to the island. It simply isn't worth it.
The negotiations reached a standstill at this point, with the Nido family stating that if the Joy family couldn't provide them with Max Revive on a long-term basis, they would not be handing over the Revival Herb.
Joyin and the others from the Joy family looked at Yuga for help, and Yuga, in turn, looked at Nidoqueen, but Nidoqueen's attitude was resolute, not giving Yuga any face.
The deadlock had lasted too long, and neither side seemed willing to give in. As the mediator, Yuga had no choice but to step in and suggest, "Since everyone is at an impasse, how about we take a break, and each side can discuss and reconsider before continuing?"
Both the Joy family and the Nido family knew that continuing to argue like this wasn't a solution, so they nodded in agreement with Yuga's suggestion.
As they all left the cave where they had been negotiating, Yuga suddenly heard the familiar sound of the system issuing a task, which had been absent for a long time.
...
[ Congratulations, Host, you have triggered a special bonus task: The Secret of the Island. ]
[ Description: In the seas far from the human world, the island is home to many powerful Pokémon. But what hidden secrets does this island conceal? ]
[ Objective: Uncover the hidden secret of the island. ]
[ Reward: A Light Gate (which connects two different regions). ]
...
After reading the task, Yuga froze for a moment. The Secret of the Island? Could there be an even bigger secret on this island?
Yuga knew that beneath the Nido family's territory lay the Eternal Flame of Ho-Oh, which was the reason why so much Revival Herb grew here and why Nidoqueen could mutate and reach Level 100.
But other than that, could there be a bigger secret?
While Yuga was pondering, he suddenly heard Nidoqueen's voice behind him. Turning around, he saw Nidoqueen grinning and waving at him.
Yuga pointed at himself, indicating, "Are you calling me?"
Nidoqueen quickly nodded, and Yuga had no choice but to set aside the task for now and walked towards her.
"What's up? You look mysterious." Yuga asked, confused.
Nidoqueen didn't speak but instead pulled Yuga toward her cave.
Once inside, Nidoqueen mysteriously took out something and handed it to Yuga. Yuga looked down and saw that she was holding a plant with nine oval-shaped leaves, which was Revival Herb, and an extremely rare Nine-Leaf Revival Herb at that.
It seemed like the Revival Herb had just been picked, with the roots still covered in soil, and water droplets shimmering on the leaves, resembling a delicate young girl standing gracefully.
"Is this for me?" Yuga asked incredulously, completely taken aback that Nidoqueen had called him over to give him such an incredibly precious treasure.
Revival Herb grows from seeds to maturity in stages: three leaves, five leaves, seven leaves, and nine leaves.
The three-leaf and five-leaf Revival Herb were considered somewhat common, but when it came to the seven-leaf Revival Herb, it was truly a rare and precious treasure. Consuming it could not only heal injuries but also carry a chance of mutation.
As for the Nine-Leaf Revival Herb, Yuga had only heard of it in legends; he had never seen one in person. He never imagined that today, Nidoqueen would take one out to give to him.
Nidoqueen nodded, indicating that this was the reward for Yuga, a gesture of gratitude for helping it eliminate Aerodactyl and resolving the life-or-death crisis of the Nido family.
Although Yuga and Nidoqueen had split Aerodactyl's treasure after defeating it, that was a separate matter. The reward for Yuga defeating Aerodactyl and saving the Nido family was a different issue entirely.
Now, Nidoqueen understood that even though both Yuga and the Joy family were human, they were not on the same side. Since the Joy family had been given the right to trade Revival Herb, it was only fitting that Yuga, who had contributed even more, should receive a greater reward.
The Nine-Leaf Revival Herb was a rare treasure, even for the Nido family. Over the years, they had only managed to accumulate three plants.
Others believed that Nidoqueen mutated and leveled up after consuming the seven-leaf Revival Herb, but only Nidoqueen knew the truth—it had consumed a Nine-Leaf Revival Herb.
It had also let Nidoking consume another, but unlike Nidoqueen, Nidoking had not reached Level 100, and to this day, it had not even broken into the Master level. Therefore, Nidoqueen had never been willing to use the final Nine-Leaf Revival Herb.
Now, it was giving that last one to Yuga.
If it were someone else, Nidoqueen might not have cared, but a Nine-Leaf Revival Herb, a treasure that existed only in legends, was too tempting. Yuga could only accept it and said, "Then I won't be polite."
After saying that, he carefully stored the Revival Herb and also fully believed the system's statement that this island held a great secret.
Since Nidoqueen was willing to give him such a treasure as the Nine-Leaf Revival Herb, it meant they must have more than one.
However, a treasure like the Nine-Leaf Revival Herb was not easily grown in normal environments, so the likelihood of them growing a second one seemed slim.
Even though beneath the Nido family's territory lay the Eternal Flame of Ho-Oh, that flame had existed for countless years and had nurtured so many ordinary Revival Herb. How much power it still had left was truly uncertain.
Could it be that there was something about the Eternal Flame that Yuga had not yet understood? He decided that he would revisit it later.
Leaving Nidoqueen's cave, Yuga went to meet with Joyha and the others, informing them that he planned to explore the surrounding areas and told them not to look for him.
Originally, Joyha had wanted to accompany Yuga, as she hadn't forgotten that one of her main reasons for coming here was to pursue him.
But how could Yuga agree? He was going out to investigate the Eternal Flame, and he couldn't let anyone else know about it. He hadn't even planned to tamper with the flame himself. If anyone else found out, it would be a huge risk, undoing everything!
In the end, Yuga quickly left under Joyha's frustrated gaze.
Avoiding the gaze of others and Pokémon, Yuga followed the route from his memory and once again found the old home of Arcanine. He dug open the entrance and re-entered the underground cave, where he saw the Eternal Flame.
After such a long time, the flame, which was over a person's height, was still quietly burning. The sacred white flame flickered on its own without any wind, emitting warm light that made one feel as though they were bathed in a spring breeze.
Yuga couldn't help but move closer to observe this Eternal Flame. He felt as if within this gentle flame, there was an overwhelming authority.
When Yuga was weaker and more inexperienced in the past, he hadn't been able to discern its unique nature the first time he saw the Eternal Flame. But now, upon seeing it again, he felt a vast oppressive force within the flame.
Even though Yuga had seen many Legendary Pokémon, he still felt that the Legendary Power within this pressure was extraordinarily strong.
At this moment, Yuga truly realized that this was no ordinary flame left by Ho-Oh! A flame of such overwhelming majesty and size could not have been casually dropped by ordinary Ho-Oh.
Yuga glanced at the system task. The system hadn't marked the task as complete due to his discovery, so it was clear that the biggest secret on the island wasn't this Eternal Flame.
He continued to observe for a long time. The flame was still a flame, containing immense vitality and divine energy, but it didn't seem to be related to the system task. Yuga had no choice but to leave, covering the entrance once again.
He had never considered taking the flame with him, nor would he allow anyone else to discover its existence.
The next day, Joyin and the Nido family had another discussion about the trade, but it ended in a disagreement once again.
The Nido family was very firm in their stance: if the Joy family couldn't provide Max Revive to the Nido family on a long-term basis, then they would not trade the Revival Herb.
The Joy family understood the stakes involved and firmly rejected the Nido family's proposal to have someone stationed on the island.
With such a loss, the Joy family thought it would be better to continue cultivating their current Revival Herb, even if it took longer. They could still gradually expand their planting scale.
They had their own special cultivation method that could greatly shorten the time it took for three-leaf Revival Herb to grow into five-leaf Revival Herb. (Note: The Revival Herb must reach five leaves to produce seeds.)
The island was indeed too far from the human continent. Even if it were a bit closer and the journey wasn't so dangerous, the Joy family would have considered agreeing to the Nido family's request.
But it was just too far!
During the argument between the two parties, Yuga glanced at the system task reward section where the "Light Gate" was listed, and for a moment, he fell into deep thought.
If this task were completed, perhaps...
After the two parties once again parted ways unhappily, Yuga gave a few words to Joyha and the others, then decided to explore other parts of the island.
If he wanted to uncover the secret of the island, he couldn't just stay within the Nido family's territory.
After leaving the Nido family's domain, Yuga released Tyranitar and Aggron, the two natives, and asked them, "Do you know of any particularly unusual places on the island?"
The two Pokémon looked at each other, and neither of them knew. After all, they hadn't explored every corner of the island.
Moreover, what exactly counted as "unusual" wasn't something they fully understood from Yuga's perspective.
After asking for a long time without gaining any useful information, Yuga helplessly thought: You two must be too busy with your romance, huh?
"Well then, let's just wander around," Yuga said to the two Pokémon.
