Chapter 1318: Aggron
After examining Aggron, Yuga didn't put it back into its Poké Ball but instead took out another one, releasing a small Larvitar.
This Larvitar was very young and didn't seem to understand what was happening. Once it was released, it rubbed its eyes with its little claws and looked around curiously. When it saw the unconscious Aggron nearby, it let out a cheerful cry and quickly climbed onto Aggron, playing around on its body without a care.
Yuga activated his Insight ability to assess the Larvitar.
...
[ Larvitar ]
Type: Rock, Ground
Ability: Guts
Gender: Female
Potential: Blue
Level: 5
Moves: Bite, Leer, Stealth Rock
...
As expected, it was a freshly born Pokémon, Yuga thought to himself, though he felt a bit disappointed at the same time.
He had originally hoped that the child of two Champion-level Pokémon—especially with one being a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon—might have at least Indigo potential. Unfortunately, fate didn't grant such luck.
Still, Yuga only felt disappointed for a fleeting moment. Blue potential wasn't bad either. High-level Pokémon offspring didn't necessarily inherit their parents' high potential. At least it wasn't a Pokémon with green, orange, or red potential, which would've been a bigger letdown.
And thankfully, their offspring wasn't an Aron, as that would've introduced the risk of even lower potential, possibly red, orange, or yellow grades.
This was how Yuga consoled himself.
Deciding not to dwell further on Larvitar's potential, Yuga turned his attention to the final Poké Ball in his hand.
He pressed the button, tossing the Poké Ball forward. After a flash of red light, Tyranitar's massive body appeared, sprawled across a large portion of the cave.
Fortunately, the cave was originally the residence of Nidoking from the Nidoqueen's tribe, so the space was already spacious. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been able to accommodate Tyranitar.
Tyranitar, still gravely injured and untreated, lay immobile on the ground. When it saw Yuga, it was momentarily stunned, as if trying to comprehend the situation, before letting out a furious roar.
The deafening sound echoed throughout the cave. Yuga quickly released Florges to guard the cave entrance, ensuring the Nidoqueen tribe wouldn't be alerted and come to investigate.
The Nidoqueen tribe had specific Pokémon assigned for patrolling and night watches. If they came inside and saw Tyranitar, Yuga would undoubtedly have to explain the situation again. To avoid this hassle, he decided to have Florges handle them directly.
As expected, it wasn't long before members of the Nidoqueen tribe arrived at the cave entrance to investigate the commotion. With a few quick words, Florges managed to send them away.
Inside the cave, Tyranitar quickly calmed down under Aegislash's intimidating presence. It wasn't particularly concerned about its own safety but was more worried about its mate and child.
Seeing its mate and child nearby, Tyranitar felt a sense of helplessness for the first time.
What did this human plan to do with them? Kill them outright? Or hand them over to the Nidoqueen tribe for punishment?
Yuga noticed Tyranitar staring blankly at Larvitar and Aggron and interrupted its thoughts.
"Tyranitar, how about we make a deal?"
Tyranitar looked at Yuga with confusion. It didn't understand what it could possibly trade with this human since its entire family was now prisoners.
What Tyranitar didn't realize was that its greatest value wasn't in anything it possessed, but in itself and its family.
Ignoring Tyranitar's doubts, Yuga smiled and asked, "That Aggron, is it your mate?" Though he had already made a guess, Yuga decided to confirm.
Tyranitar hesitated for a few seconds before nodding slightly. It was a clever Pokémon, very aware of the situation. Back when it had chosen to rely on Aerodactyl to obtain the Revive Herb to save its mate, it had been pragmatic. Today, it was willing to bow its head to Yuga to protect its family.
Pseudo-legendary and high-level Pokémon like Tyranitar often had strong pride, and Tyranitar was no exception. However, it also knew that dignity should be preserved only when it mattered, not at the expense of its loved ones' lives.
Had Tyranitar been alone, it would not have been this cooperative.
After receiving Tyranitar's confirmation, Yuga smiled and said, "I assume you sided with Aerodactyl to obtain the Revive Herb to treat the severely injured and unconscious Aggron. Here's the deal: I'll heal Aggron for you, but you, Aggron, and your child must all obey me from now on."
Tyranitar froze upon hearing this. Wasn't this offer the same as the one it had accepted from Aerodactyl?
Instead of agreeing immediately, Tyranitar asked Yuga, "You've captured me, but what about Aerodactyl? What happened to it?"
Tyranitar had already guessed the answer but wanted to hear it confirmed. Aerodactyl was the strongest Pokémon it had ever known. If Aerodactyl had simply escaped...
"It's dead," Yuga said calmly.
As expected... Tyranitar thought. At the same time, it felt a sense of relief. Since Aerodactyl was dead, switching allegiance to this human wouldn't count as betrayal, right?
Tyranitar tried to convince itself. After a few minutes, it finally looked at Yuga and said, "I agree."
Yuga was thrilled by this response but asked another question, "Can you make this decision on Aggron's behalf?"
Tyranitar nodded. "I can. I'll persuade it."
Elated, Yuga continued, "In that case, let's treat your injuries first."
Tyranitar initially wanted to ask Yuga to treat Aggron first, but seeing that Yuga wasn't considering its opinion, it kept silent.
Yuga called out Chimecho, instructing it to use Heal Pulse to stabilize Tyranitar's injuries temporarily. Then, he took out a Max Revive.
Although Tyranitar's injuries weren't life-threatening and could be slowly healed through Heal Pulse, that method would take too long. Yuga didn't want to wait, so he opted to use the shard directly.
This Max Revive was made from materials provided by the Nidi tribe and crafted by Joyin. The few Yuga had were essentially freebies. Since he hadn't used them during the battle earlier, using them now on Tyranitar and Aggron didn't feel wasteful.
Yuga wasn't short on Max Revive anyway; his home had a whole field of Revive Herbs growing.
Yuga held the Max Revive to Tyranitar's mouth and said, "Here, eat this. It'll fully heal your injuries."
The Max Revive was a bright yellow, glistening like a translucent star, incredibly beautiful. Tyranitar, having never seen a Max Revive before, hesitated, unsure of what Yuga was offering it.
Once Tyranitar swallowed the Max Revive, a warm current surged through its stomach and spread throughout its body. Wherever the warmth flowed, all the pain vanished.
Tyranitar was astonished. What was this? How could it be so powerful? Wasn't Revive Herb supposed to be the ultimate remedy?
Tyranitar knew what revival herbs looked like. Even if it had never eaten pork, it had certainly seen pigs run. Moreover, it was well aware that consuming revival herbs while injured came with side effects, including memory confusion and a drop in level.
Feeling that its injuries had fully healed, Tyranitar clumsily patted itself down. It neither sensed a weakening of its strength nor felt as though it had forgotten anything.
Could there possibly be something even more potent than revival herbs?
Yuga noticed Tyranitar's actions and seemed to guess what it was thinking. He spoke up to explain, "The thing I gave you is called a Max Revive. It's a medicine we humans developed from revival herbs. It retains all the healing effects of revival herbs but comes without the side effects."
Tyranitar was shocked. Humans were truly incredible!
Yuga continued, "Do you know why the Nido clan was able to hold out against Aerodactyl for so long? It was because of Max Revive."
Tyranitar suddenly understood. That explained it! Even though the Nidoqueen and Nidoking were no match for Aerodactyl, they always bounced back after battles, full of life.
Previously, Tyranitar had thought it was because of revival herbs. Now it realized it was the Max Revive all along.
Tyranitar hadn't encountered humans before and had only thought of them as an unknown species. Now, it felt humans were truly remarkable.
Realizing this, Tyranitar couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. With these Max Revive, wouldn't Aggron recover fully in no time?
Larvitar, seeing its mother stand up, toddled over on its little legs to snuggle up to her. But at this moment, all of Tyranitar's attention was on Aggron, and it couldn't be bothered with Larvitar.
It bent down and called to Larvitar twice. Larvitar obediently stood behind its mother.
Seeing that Tyranitar was now completely healed, Yuga nodded in satisfaction. "Great. Now let's heal Aggron."
Then, as if remembering something, he turned to Tyranitar and said, "You'd better persuade Aggron properly later. Don't let it cause a scene."
Tyranitar immediately swore solemnly that it would.
Larvitar, not understanding what its mother was doing, found her actions amusing. Mimicking Tyranitar, it pounded its tiny chest forcefully but overdid it, falling flat on its rear. This clumsy display made Yuga burst out laughing.
Perhaps because it felt relieved knowing that Aggron could be saved, the gloom that had hung over Tyranitar's heart lifted. Watching its child's antics, it couldn't help but smile.
Larvitar, not understanding why everyone was laughing, glanced at Yuga and then at its mother. Finally, it sprawled on the ground, laughing along with everyone else, letting out a series of cheerful "Larvitar! Larvitar!" sounds.
After enjoying Larvitar's amusing "performance," Yuga approached Aggron, who was still unconscious, and placed a Max Revive into its mouth. Aggron swallowed it instinctively.
Soon, the Max Revive began to take effect. Aggron let out snorting sounds, alternately resembling pain and relief.
About half an hour later, Aggron suddenly opened its eyes. Upon seeing the unfamiliar Yuga, a startling surge of energy erupted from its body.
"Tyranitar~"
Tyranitar's voice rang out, and Aggron's intimidating aura vanished instantly. It turned its gaze to its mate and child, its eyes brimming with joy.
Before it had been gravely injured and lost consciousness, Aggron had thought it would never see Tyranitar and Larvitar again.
Still groggy from its long slumber, Aggron was thrilled yet confused. But before it could ask any questions, Tyranitar stepped forward and explained everything in a few words.
Upon learning that Tyranitar had essentially "sold itself" to Aerodactyl to secure treatment for its injuries, Aggron was heartbroken.
Before being with it, Tyranitar had always lived a carefree life. Coupled with its formidable strength, its days were nothing short of comfortable and satisfying.
However, ever since it got together with Aggron, trouble seemed to come one after another...
As promised, Tyranitar quickly persuaded Aggron. Although Aggron felt distressed that Tyranitar had lost its freedom because of it, it couldn't deny the fact that Yuga had saved its life.
After a moment of quiet, Larvitar, seeing that its father had finally woken up, excitedly ran to its side, kicking its little legs as it tried to climb onto its father.
Aggron hurriedly used its large claws to hold the little one, placing it gently on its belly.
Previously, Tyranitar had always lied to Larvitar, saying its father was merely asleep. So, during the times Tyranitar wasn't home, Larvitar, though eager to play with its father, had always restrained itself from disturbing him.
Now that its father was finally awake, Larvitar was ecstatic.
After letting the family of three enjoy a warm moment together, Yuga asked, "Both of you are very powerful. How did Aggron sustain such severe injuries?"
Could there be a Master-level Pokémon or even a third Level 100 Pokémon on this island? That didn't seem possible.
Aggron remained silent for a while before explaining to Yuga the cause of its injuries.
It turned out that on the far side of the island, far from the Nidoking and Nidoqueen territory, there was another settlement of Aggron. The Aggron group there was no weaker than the Nidoking clan. The only notable difference was that the Aggron clan didn't have a leader as powerful as the Nidoking Queen.
The former leader of the Aggron clan was Aggron's father, a Master-level Pokémon. However, it had already passed away.
Aggron's father had two exceptionally gifted children—Aggron itself and its elder brother. And the one who killed their father was none other than Aggron's elder brother.
The root of it all lay in the clan's leadership battle.
At the time, Aggron's father was already very old. Despite his high level, his strength had diminished to less than a tenth of what it once was. His grip over the clan had weakened considerably, and many members had long begun supporting Aggron's elder brother in his bid for leadership.
Aggron's elder brother indeed harbored ambitions and eventually challenged their father for the position of leader. During the challenge, he killed their father.
A new leader killing the old one was not unusual in the leadership battles of the Aggron clan. However, Aggron had not expected that after eliminating their father, its brother, fearing that Aggron might someday seek to challenge his position, would turn against it as well.
Both Aggron and its elder brother were the most talented members of the Aggron clan. Unlike their aged father, they were both in their prime, possessing immense strength and long lifespans. The only potential rivals they had were each other.
At the time, Aggron was no match for its brother. Defeated, it fled.
After living away from the clan for some time, Aggron met its current partner, Tyranitar.
But its elder brother had no intention of letting it go so easily.
