He's Special To Me

Chapter 13: Chapter 12

Chapter 12

“Hyung, I have lots of stories to share with you, " Tae Jin excitedly said, trying to make Hae Jin feel the same and it worked.

He beamed at his words.

"Tell me" he said and the kid stared for a few seconds in fascination but what came next was nothing Hae Jin expected to hear.

"Hyung, you're like an angel when you smile. But I must say, you're far from an angel though" but he was happy to hear it. Totally ignoring the last sentence to fit exactly what would take him to cloud nine.

"Oh, please, don't make me blush" Hae Jin looked away with reddened cheeks, embarrassed. Heavens, he got flustered easily, was he like this when he was alive?

"Oh, right, Hyung, from tomorrow onwards I'll be coming here in the afternoon" Hae Jin snapped out of his thoughts, eyes widened in shock, "You'll be coming back?" He asked. Why did he want to come again? There was nothing interesting here.

Well, it wasn't like he wouldn't like it if he did visit again.

"Of course!" The kid exclaimed with a smile, "I don't want you to be lonely anymore" Once again, Hae Jin was shocked by the kid's words. Lonely? Why was the kid talking as if he knew something? (About him being a ghost)

"Why do you think I'm lonely?" He asked. Smiling, Tae Jin pointed at his (Tae Jin) eyes, "I can see it in your eyes. Your eyes tells me how lonely you are"

Oh, so his eyes betrayed him. Traitors! He would have executed them for this grave crime if he didn't need them.

"So, I'll be coming in the afternoon everyday to keep you company" 'Everyday' Hae Jin said in mind. He loved that. But, why in the afternoon?

"Why in the afternoon?" He asked.

"Well, today is Sunday, I'll be going to school tomorrow. Tomorrow is Monday"

Right! He was so stupid! Tae Jin was a student.......... Seriously, Sunday already?

"Okay, then I'll be expecting you tomorrow......"

"Around 3" Tae Jin added and they smiled at each other.

Something came to mind, the smile fell off and he asked, "But, will your parents be alright with you going out alone?" with a serious expression.

"Oh, Hyung, you don't know? I live just a few blocks away from here. I'll be alright" He did? He had no idea. Well, how would he know if he never asked or walked him home? He really hated the fact that he was trapped in this forsaken house.

"I see," he said.

"Do you have anything else to ask Hyung?"

Anything else to ask.........ask.........right! Who was that woman who picked him up yesterday? Was she really his mother?

"What is it hyung? You can ask me anything and I'll answer. You look like you have something on your mind"

"Our Tae Jin catches up on things pretty quick, I see"

"That's right!" He exclaimed and Hae Jin smiled, amused to see how proud the kid was of himself.

"Our Tae Jin must be so smart" Tae Jin smiled, looking prouder than before as he said, "I am. I always get first place in my class"

"Oh wow! That's amazing! You're amazing Tae Jin"

"Mm, I am" replied Tae Jin, his arms crossed over his chest with that same proud look on his face, making Hae Jin laugh.

Tae Jin was a funny and interesting kid and he hoped and pray, that he would spend more time with him before they parted ways.

Ghosts and humans could never live together for long. It was inevitable that they would part ways sooner or later and he hoped and prayed their time together would last long.

"So, what do you want to ask?" The kid asked, drawing him out of his thoughts.

"Oh, right. The woman who picked you up yesterday, is she your mother?"

Tae Jin shook his head and replied, "Soon is my nanny" Oh, so the woman's name was 'Soon' and she was his nanny.

They weren't related after all.

"Mom and dad are always busy with work. They're both doctors and they spend a lot of time working. That's why they hired Soon to take care of me while they're at work"

"So, did you ask for Soon's permission before coming here?" Hae Jin really hoped that was so, because he didn't want the woman to worry too much about him. Just like yesterday when she came by.

She was worried, anxious and panicked.

The young woman looked like she had an encounter with the angel of death while looking for Tae Jin.

He didn't want her to go through that kind of hell again.

"Yes, I told her I'm coming here to play and she agreed. And her boyfriend is your next door neighbor" Seriously? The house next to his was Soon's boyfriend's? Well, he really was learning a lot.

But still, why did the young lady agree? In the eyes of humans, the house looked abandoned and probably haunted. So why did she agree?

"She said she will check on me once in a while. Just to be sure I'm okay and safe"

"Oh, I see" He should just drop all his questions. He won't get any answers anyway. He has decided not to reveal the fact that he was a ghost to Tae Jin, that meant, he had to pay the price of never finding out why his nanny, Soon, allowed him to come play in this abandoned haunted house all by himself.

Did she really think this through? *Sigh, forget it.

"So, tell me, what do you have to share with me? Make it interesting" Hae Jin said, changing the subject and like a smart kid Tae Jin was, he took the bait with no questions.

"I have a lot to share with you!" He exclaimed happily, "Remember my friend Shin Hye?, the one I told you about?" Smiling amusingly, Hae Jin hummed in reply and Tae Jin continued, "She got second place in the test we wrote last Friday"

"Oh, really?"

"Yes, and I got first place!"

"Wow, that's amazing Tae Jin. You really are a smart kid"

"I am! And my other friends, they got third and fourth place. Well, Se Jong got third place and Hyun Seo got fourth place. They were so sad and jealous of me. They even said it out loud"

"Oh, and what was your reply?"

"I told them they can never beat a smart kid like me. And that they should accept their third and fourth place and try harder next time to be in second place just like Shin Hye" Hae Jin burst out laughing. Tae Jin really was a funny and interesting kid. But still, how could he say that to his friends?

And like this, Hae Jin listened amusingly, watching Tae Jin talk about school and his friends.

He had no answers and was glad not once did Tae Jin ask about himself, his life, friends and families.

Six hours later, Tae Jin ended his stories simply because the sun was setting and it was time to go home. Hae Jin had something to say about that but he didn't dare voice out.

He was disappointed Tae Jin was leaving but there was nothing he could do. The kid wasn't his neither was he his family member nor someone he shared the house with. Tae Jin had his life and family to go back to.

Tae Jin was human.

*Sigh, another thing. He was amazed that the nanny had not once showed up to check up on Tae Jin.

She might have had a blast spending time with her boyfriend, so much that she forgot about the person who, because of, was making money.

Seriously, was the young woman right in the head? How could she leave a kid all alone in this haunted house? Well, it wasn't like he would do anything to the kid.

He was safe in his hands.

"Hyung"

"Yes?" Hae Jin answered with a smile, coming out of his thoughts.

"Hyung, what's your favorite dessert or food?" The kid asked seriously. Finding Tae Jin cute, Hae Jin's smile widened, "Oh, and why do you ask? Are you planning on buying me one"

Determined and decisive, the kid answered, "Yes" Oh, how cute and adorable he was!

Hey! Can he be mine? Can you please give Tae Jin to me!

'...........'

Hey! Answer me!! I know you can hear me!!

'..........Is that how you ask for a favor?'

Tsk, don't talk nonsense if you won't give me an answer.

'You know, I'm right on the edge of getting angry'

"Hyung?" Tae Jin gained his attention as he answered, "Strawberry cake" Hae Jin didn't remember his favorite food or dessert but after years of having the strawberry cake (Left by the old woman who came once every year), it was now his favorite.

But, could Tae Jin afford it? Cakes were expensive, right? He had no idea, but he could still spare him if it was.

"You know what, you can just get me a strawberry flavoured biscuit. I love that more than strawberry cakes" Hae Jin said, thinking about Tae Jin.

Strawberry bruits wouldn't be expensive for Tae Jin to afford, right?

Hae Jin might not be able to eat his favorite strawberry cake but it was the thought that counts. He was happy to know Tae Jin cared enough about him to get him his favorite.

"Hmmm, okay!" Tae Jin exclaimed happily and Hae Jin couldn't help but smile as well.

Tae Jin really was just so cute!!!
