He's Special To Me

Chapter 14: Chapter 13

Chapter 13

*************

After seeing Tae Jin off, Hae Jin went upstairs in search of his ghost friend, Sung-Yoon.

Of course, he didn't walk out. He stood a few steps away from the front door, watching and waving at Tae Jin who also waved back as he left the house.

Back to the scene,

At the moment, Hae Jin was heading for the first bedroom in the house in search of Sung-Yoon, he couldn't help but feel like a jerk.

The poor girl was left alone all day, and he didn't even bother to check on her. Definitely, he wasn't a good friend.

The first room was checked and she wasn't there. Not in the bathroom either. He then moved on to the second room, same result.

The last room, the master bathroom, and at the moment, he stood right in front of it. Looking sorry and worried.

Was Sung-Yoon mad? Was she alright? She has been by herself all day with no company.

He just hoped she didn't leave the house without his notice.

“Sung-Yoon, are you in there?” He asked and waited for a second or two. No answer.

She was definitely angry. Or maybe, she wasn't there.

“Sung-Yoon?”

“Come in, it's not locked”

She sounded calm but Hae Jin still prepared himself for her outburst before walking through the door to the other side. Entering the room with no effort unlike when he tried to leave the house.

Inside the room, like in the living room and the other rooms, the furniture was covered with white cloth.

It was like this when he first came here and he had no idea as to why. Neither did he know something about the previous tenants.

Hae Jin has been here (The master bedroom) before but has never stayed for too long. For some reason, he felt he was invading someone's privacy every time he came into this room or the other bedrooms and that was why he chose to sleep and stay in the living room.

The master bedroom was dimly lit but he could see fine.

He found Sung-Yoon lying down on the king-sized bed (Which was also covered with a large white cloth) staring up at the ceiling with a blank expression.

He couldn't read her at all. He had no idea what she was thinking and could only hope she wasn't that angry.

"Come closer, I'm not angry" Sung-Yoon assured him, like she could read his mind but he wasn't convinced. Even so, he still went closer to the bed, lying down next to her.

The room was awfully quiet and he didn't like it. He loved it when it was noisy, when she was talking non stop.

Though sometimes he found it irritating and annoying.

"The kid left" it wasn't a question but a statement and he answered "He left". And silence took over again. He hated this. If Sung-Yoon was angry she should say something, scold him, yell at him, he didn't like this form of punishment at all.

"I'm sorry for leaving you all alone for so long Sung-Yoon"

"Don't apologize, the same happened yesterday" Right, it did. Yesterday he spent hours talking with Tae Jin until the sun began to set just like today, totally ignoring Sung-Yoon without even realising.

"Seriously, I'm not angry, I'm just glad to see you happy" Sung-Yoon said, turning to his direction with a smile. Seeing the smile, Hae Jin breathed out in relief. This time, he was convinced Sung-Yoon wasn't angry.

"So, what are you thinking about?"

"About where you could have possibly hidden the food I brought, I'm so hungry" Hae Jin burst out laughter. What the.....and here he was, thinking she was angry for his stupid behavior when it wasn't even close to that.

How stupid of him?

"Hae Jin"

Coming out of his thoughts, Hae Jin answered, "Yeah?"

"What do you know about the kid? I mean Tae Jin. What do you know about Tae Jin?" Hae Jin turned his head, a questioning look on his face as he stared at her side profile.

What a question to ask. He wondered why?

Still,......... he'll answer anyway.

"Well, I only know his hobbies, favorites and what he dislikes if that's what you want to know" In fact, this was all he knew so far.

"That's not what I want to know, but it's okay. Let's just drop the subject about your kid"

Hae Jin frowned. He didn't like the fact that Sung-Yoon dismissed a subject concerning Tae Jin just like that. But he complied, choosing to allow Sung-Yoon to come out with it in her own time.

"Hmm"

"By the way, I have something important to tell you. But first, why don't we switch on the lights? Is dark in here"

She was right. The sun was now set and the room was dark. However, was she forgetting something?

"You know we can't. In the eyes of people around, this house has been abandoned for years. If we switch on the lights they will get suspicious and might even think there are thieves in here. Worst............."

"The police might get involved. I know but still, I don't want to stay in a dark house"

"You have no choice," he answered back. Staying in a house with no electricity and water has become a common thing for Hae Jin. Not like he needed both. He was already used to it, but Sung-Yoon, it looked like she would have trouble coping.

"If you're scare we can sleep in this room"

Ghosts do rest, and he still didn't know much but he felt he was a little different. If he didn't sleep for 8 hours like a normal human being, he got tired, dizzy and weak.

"And if you're still afraid of sleeping in the dark, you can hold my hand while you sleep"

"How old do you think I am? 5? Also, I'm a ghost, what else do I have to fear?" Sung-Yoon said annoyingly but even so, she still took Hae Jin's hand, making him smile.

Her hand was cold, but Hae Jin was more concerned about the fact that he was holding hands with someone who wasn't himself. It was a nice feeling, one he liked.

"Your hand is warm Hae Jin. How is this possible?"

"I don't know, maybe all ghosts with situations like mine have warm hands"

"That doesn't make sense, we're all dead but, I can accept this theory of yours. Come to think of it, Chae Joon's hands are also warm"

"See, I'm right"

"Hmm"

"So, what's this important thing you want to tell me?"

"Oh, right, I almost forgot about it. You see, when I met that old woman, after she rescued me from those evil ghosts, she shared something important with me"

"Oh, and what's that?" He curiously asked.

"Ways to deal with evil ghosts and the benefits one gets from it"

"Huh?" Hae Jin exclaimed in shock.
