Chapter 12: Chapter 11
Chapter 11
***********
The two have already had their breakfast and to make sure the food wouldn't finish before the destined days, Hae Jin hid the rest.
He still thought Sung-Yoon was a gourmet and if care was not taken, the rest of the food which could only last them for two days would finish before that.
Now, the scene. Sung-Yoon occupied the couch next to Hae Jin on his left, no longer sharing the same couch.
Both of them were silently staring up at the ceiling while lost in thought.
Hae Jin was thinking about the human kid he met yesterday. Wondering if the kid would visit again today. The poor soul wanted to experience being human again.
While Sung-Yoon, she was thinking about the information she forgot to share with Hae Jin. A very important piece of information.
Maybe it would be wise if she did now. There was nothing else to talk about, and it was better she did now before she forgot again.
"Hae Jin" She called out his name, drawing him out of his thoughts, "Yeah?" He answered, turning his head to her direction with a questioning look.
"I...... I forgot to tell you something important"
"Oh?" What could that be? Sung-Yoon looked so serious.
"What is it?" He asked, "Well,......."
'Knock, Knock' they were interrupted. Surprised and curious, they turned to the direction of the front door before looking back at each other with that same expression.
"Who could it be?" Sung-Yoon asked, totally forgetting Hae Jin didn't know either. The guy sat in the same room next to her.
"I don't know but I sure hope is not the angel of death coming for my soul"
Sung-Yoon smiled and said, "Seriously?" And the shook her head and with a serious expression, said,
"Then I hope is Jesus or God, here to tell me is my time to crossover to heaven"
'I don't think any of them will knock' Hae Jin said in mind but didn't think of saying it out loud. Instead, he said,
"For once, I agree with you"
"How rude of you. Just this once? Well, whatever, go open the door"
Seriously? Was she joking or trying to pick a fight?
"Are you forgetting something? I can't. I don't like getting slammed against the walls, you know?"
No one! He repeated, No one! In his shoes would like that!
"Yeah, right. Then......" Her words were cut short when Tae Jin's voice sounded out "Hyung! It is me Tae Jin!"
Eager to see the expression on Hae Jin's face knowing his kid was here, Sung-Yoon turned to Hae Jin's direction but to her surprise, like the 'Flash', Hae Jin was gone when he heard the kid's voice.
Seriously, how could he be this fast?
Standing a few steps from the front door, smiling happily, eager to see Tae Jin.
How happy he was that Tae Jin was here and he didn't want to admit to waiting to see him again.
He wanted to spend time with him, to feel alive again. He was so eager to hear the stories Tae Jin had to tell him. Stories about his days, his friends, school, it didn't really matter to him which one it would be, he wanted to hear them all.
It was such a shame he couldn't open the door and welcome the kid himself.
"Hyung! Are you in there?" Tae Jin's voice drew him out of his thoughts. Still smiling, he answered, "I'm here. The door is not locked"
The doors and windows in the house have never been knocked. For some reason, the old woman (Who came once every year) always left them unlocked.
And at this moment, he was glad she did.
...............Maybe he should be more grateful about the fact that no thief has paid a visit in all these years.
"Okay, then I'm coming in" Tae Jin said and he watched, as the doorknob turned and the door opened, revealing the kid, who smiled when he saw him (Hae Jin). The kid wore a white shirt with short jeans, looking even more cute than the first time they met.
Inviting himself in, Tae Jin gently closed the door before rushing to hug him. Realizing this, Hae Jin raised a hand between them, stopping the kid.
"No, you can't touch me," he said. Tae Jin looked up at him, looking disappointed. Pouting, he said, "Why not? Do you hate me that much?" He asked. Panicking, Hae Jin hurriedly said, "No, I don't" and the kid beamed at his reply, "I'm happy to hear that because I think of you as my friend"
Hae Jin smiled warmly, happy to hear this. Friends.....he had a human friend.
"Yes, we're friends".
Tae Jin giggled, "I'm happy to hear that" he said. Gosh, the kid was so cute!
"Then, let's go to the living room. We have a lot to talk about right?" He said, smiling and watched as the kid nodded and replied with a smile, "We do. I have so much to tell you" he replied as they headed for the living room.
And today marks the beginning of Tae Jin's continuous visits.
***************
Getting into the living room, Hae Jin sat on the couch he sat on earlier while Tae Jin sat on the same couch as Sung-Yoon. Both stared at each other, smiling.
Watching them, Sung-Yoon felt left out. She wasn't seen or heard and she didn't need anyone to tell her with the kid's presence, she won't get not even the slightest piece of Hae Jin's attention.
What was the point of being here?
"I'm leaving" she said, getting up with an irritated look on her face just like how she felt.
And she finally got Hae Jin's attention. He turned to her direction, a worried look on his face while Tae Jin watched him with a puzzling expression but he didn't dare ask. Silently questioning Hae Jin's sanity with that cute little brain of his.
"Where are you going? Are you going out again?" Hae Jin asked.
He was worried Sung-Yoon won't make it back early like yesterday. Worried she'll encounter those evil ghosts again.
Seeing how worried Hae Jin looked, Sung-Yoon smiled. So he did care about her. She thought before assuring him (Hae Jin), "Don't worry. I'm not leaving the house. I'll be in one of the rooms if you need me"
Hae Jin breathed out a sigh of relief "Okay" he answered and Sung-Yoon left, smiling happily.
Hae Jin cared about her. Her presence was needed. The guy had no idea how happy she was. Someone needed her and that was all she ever wanted as a ghost.
"Hyung, who were you talking to?" Hae Jin snapped his head at him, "Oh, no one. You don't have to know" Pouting, Tae Jin replied, "I'm not a kid anymore, I'll be 6 soon"
Oh, so he was 5. And......how cute. The pouting Tae Jin was just so cute.
"But still you're be a senior kid"
"I don't want to hear that" Tae Jin folded his arms on his chest, looking angry, however, Hae Jin found him cuter.
"Come on, Tae Jin. Cheer up, I'm sorry okay? You're not a kid, you're a grown up"
'Albeit you're still far from that' Hae Jin thought with a smile before saying,
"Come on"
"Fine" Tae Jin said and a smile lit on his lips once again. "Oh Hyung, our names sound similar. Hae Jin, Tae Jin. Don't you think so?"
Personally, he never thought about it. Did it even sound similar? Well he...........and Tae Jin had his attention once again as he spoke,
"But I guess the meanings are different. My name Tae Jin means 'Growing Big Star' my father told me. What about you Hyung?"
"Huh?" Hae Jin asked stupidly even though he heard loud and clear.
It was simple, he didn't know the meaning of his name neither did he want to think about or know.
Could they just talk about something else? This topic reminded him of his past he still didn't know and it wasn't a good feeling.
"I don't know" he answered and the kid's eyes widened in shock "how come you don't know? Where are your mother and father?" He asked.
"I don't know, I don't remember them" Hae Jin replied, playing cool but his eyes sold him out and Tae Jin noticed.
He was saddened.
Must be so hard for him. Indeed, he was lucky, he still had his parents with him.
