Chapter 10: Path
Despite Cedric's insistence and reassurance that angels were powerful enough to defend Aurelia. Grahm has decided to send a small escort of human soldiers with them.
While he knew it was coming from his care it was rather detrimental to the success and efficiency of this mission.
Cedric felt it in his soul if he wanted to get to the demon fortress he could arrive there in mere seconds while utilizing the blessings of God.
Despite being a spoiled noble Aurelia certainly could hold her own while walking, it would be unwise to take horses after all noisy animals would attract unwanted attention and could cause filthy demons to escape his just wrath.
'I will not allow it...' Cedric said while Grahm wanted to give the horses. It would be completely useless; even sending extra fodder soldiers was a massive detriment.
"I guess I will just have to deal with this until we reach the fortress of the damned," Cedric muttered as he imagined what It would look like.
Would it be a place filled with terror and screams of the damned?
Would it corrupt the land around it into a landscape resembling hell? He did not know.
No matter what it looks like, Cedric would make sure the place disappears from the map.
And yet despite his attempts to keep his head in battle mode, Aurelia kept trying to seduce him.
It was almost like she didn't wish to succeed in this mission, and yet despite her sinful nature, he wouldn't suspect her of treachery.
Cedric knew how most traitors would act, and even the most skilled saboteurs gave away clues of treachery. But this woman seemed to only care about sticking as close to the hero as possible.
All she did was blush and avert her gaze while squirming when he noticed her.
'Is she... In love? Possibly, but it's more likely that she only wishes for carnal pleasure as her sins suggest.' Cedric thought to himself.
While he wasn't against love or marriage, he believed it should wait until God's mission was complete.
"Lady Aurelia, please contain yourself. I have already stated that I am not interested," Cedric said, but in a gentler tone.
With a sigh, Aurelia separated from Cedric.
"I will prove to be a worthy wife for you sir Cedric!" Aurelia exclaimed with a wide smile.
Cedric almost facepalmed at these woman's antics, she was serious. Nobody has ever come on this strong onto him.
It wasn't like he didn't find this woman attractive, but she needed to understand. She is a sinner, and Cedric himself had a mission assigned to him by God himself.
'If she wasn't so sinful and If she wasn't an infidel I wouldn't have minded her presence all that much, but...' Cedric groaned.
Their pace was painfully slow for him, He surely made a mistake for even allowing Aurelia to come, but these random soldiers were baggage.
Each moment he wasn't killing demons was too long for their existence to continue.
Well, he refused to waste his time, at least he would be able to examine his status even more.
[Status], Cedric opened his status once again, looking at a specific skill once again, none other than [God's Will].
[God's Will] was enigmatic and mostly unknown, he knew it gave him a lot of benefits but he did not understand what he had gained.
If he were to use God's power effectively he needed to learn everything he could about his Apex skills.
More specifically he needed to understand [Mana Forge], It sounded incredibly powerful and it would surely be a boon if he were to master it.

Another incredible blessing from the Lord, Cedric had to resist the urge to pray. After all with this many blessings, he would be a fool to waste Lord's time.
Prayer shall wait once the mission is complete.
He turned to Aurelia, perhaps she would be a good test subject, after all, she could use a stronger skill to defend herself, no matter how sinful or infidelic a human was If Cedric invited her that meant she was his responsibility.
Once again he activated [God's Eye].

She was incredibly weak, she was slightly stronger than a normal soldier but she was nothing to brag about.
With a shout, he ordered, "Halt! There is something I need to do."
He stepped closer to Aurelia, ignoring her obvious blushing and squirming as he placed his armored hand on top of her head.
"Umm, sir. I thought you didn't have any interest..." Aurelia shyly smiled as the great hero put his hand on her.
"No, I will give you something, relax."
Aurelia nodded as she relaxed, she trusted the great hero after all despite her mind thinking of a more carnal gift.
Cedric activated [Mana Forge-Bestow].
'[Divine Storm] should be everything she might need,' Cedric thought before assigning Apex Skill [Divine Storm] to Aurelia.

As the skill engraved itself into Aurelia she collapsed under the pain, she gripped her chest as she screamed. "ARGHhhHH!!!!"
Tears swelled in her eyes as she felt like she was about to explode.
She rolled on the ground as the pain finally subsided, leaving her breathing heavily.
Soldiers looked at him with concern, ready for a suicidal charge.
"I am... ok... Soldiers stand back..." Aurelia stood up, her whole body shaking.
"What have you done sir Cedric?" She knew he did not induce so much pain for no reason, he didn't seem like that kind of person.
"I have granted you a skill [Divine Storm], the same skill I used to decimate Demon Army, but you are too weak so its power is merely 5% of its potential."
'Ah so that is the limit, I thought It would be too powerful.' Cedric thought.
It did not matter, despite the limit being set to 5 % It would be enough to kill most lesser demons.
But the test was successful as Aurelia had gained another powerful tool.
Aurelia used the opportunity to grab onto Cedric's arm. "Thank you, Cedric."
"Let's go, we spent too much time. Demons need to die." Cedric motioned the men to continue as he took the front with Aurelia still attached to his arm, after all, he was not so cruel to cause so much pain and not provide support.
