Chapter 17: Chapter 16: To Nobita's House As A Guest
Time passed neither too fast nor too slow, but the day still seemed to fly by.
By the time school ended in the afternoon, Dekisugi was already distributing the homework books from the teacher. After handing them out, the teacher assigned the day's homework and dismissed the class.
Although school was officially over, the atmosphere wasn't entirely peaceful—especially for Nobita. The events from that morning were still hanging in the air.
"Nobita, stop right there!" Jaian roared as soon as the teacher left the room. He had been holding back his anger all day and was now ready to let it loose. "You better let me give you a good punch right now! If not, you'd better not come to school tomorrow, or else I'll make you regret it!"
Nobita, completely missing Jaian's growing rage, smirked confidently and said, "Jaian, you should be grateful to me. I'm clearly the most handsome one here, while you're just a big oaf with no charm!"
Dekisugi, noticing Jaian's increasingly dangerous expression, quickly tugged on Nobita's sleeve to stop him from digging a deeper hole.
Realizing too late that he had made a mistake, Nobita quickly covered his mouth and gave Jaian a nervous smile. He began to back away slowly, hoping to escape the inevitable.
Jaian, however, had reached his breaking point. With a furious roar, he lunged at Nobita like a tiger pouncing on its prey.
Fortunately for Nobita, he had one redeeming skill: running away. Despite his lack of athleticism, he was an expert at escaping sticky situations.
Even when Jaian and Suneo set up ambushes, Nobita often managed to sense the danger and flee just in time. Today was no different.
Jaian panted heavily as he came to a stop, realizing that Nobita had once again managed to evade him. He muttered under his breath, "Ugh, I can't believe he got away. He's getting better at this."
He turned to see Suneo chuckling to himself and immediately directed his frustration toward him.
"What are you laughing at, Suneo? Do you want a beating too?!" Jaian barked.
Before Suneo could respond, Jaian landed a light punch on his arm.
"Ow! That hurts!" Suneo whined. "Why are you hitting me? Just because you couldn't catch Nobita doesn't mean you should take it out on me!"
Despite his complaints, Suneo didn't hold it against Jaian. The two were still good friends, even if Jaian's temper often put Suneo in awkward situations.
Shizuka and Dekisugi stood nearby, watching the scene unfold with amused smiles.
Eventually, Jaian and Suneo decided to go play baseball, while Shizuka and Dekisugi planned to visit Nobita's house to work on their homework.
"See you tomorrow, Jaian and Suneo," Dekisugi said politely as he and Shizuka began to walk away.
Jaian waved in response, then shouted after them, "By the way, Dekisugi and Shizuka, if you're going to Nobita's house, tell him he'd better be ready for me tomorrow!"
"Yeah, make sure he knows he's in for it!" Suneo added, eager to stay on Jaian's good side.
Dekisugi and Shizuka nodded politely before heading off.
Once they were out of earshot, Shizuka turned to Dekisugi with a concerned expression. "Should we tell Nobita about this?"
Dekisugi thought for a moment before nodding. "We should. At least he'll be mentally prepared. If he knows what's coming, he might manage to avoid Jaian again tomorrow. But if he thinks Jaian's anger has blown over, he'll definitely get caught and beaten."
After a brief pause, Dekisugi added, "Shizuka, you go to Nobita's house first. I'll stop by my house to grab the manga I promised to lend him, and then I'll join you there."
"Alright, Dekisugi. I'll put away my schoolbag first and head over. Don't keep us waiting!" Shizuka replied with a smile before heading toward her home.
As Dekisugi walked toward his house, he found himself lost in thought. He had been contemplating what kind of manga he could draw for a class project. Since he was still in fourth grade, his options were limited.
Crayon Shin-chan? No, that's not suitable. Ultraman? Hmm, maybe not. Naruto? Too complicated. One Piece? Not quite right either.
Suddenly, inspiration struck. Digimon! He smiled to himself. That's perfect. It's something I can handle, and it's interesting too.
When Dekisugi arrived home, he unlocked the door with his key and stepped inside.
The house was quiet—too quiet. It felt empty and lifeless, as it often did. Although the place was fully furnished, Dekisugi couldn't shake a sense of loneliness.
Perhaps it was this solitude that had driven him to excel academically. Kids in situations like his often either threw themselves into their studies or struggled to find motivation at all.
Shaking off the thought, Dekisugi climbed the stairs to his room. He grabbed the manga he planned to lend Nobita, along with his homework, and headed back out.
Meanwhile, at Nobita's house:
"Doraemon!" Nobita cried as he slid open the door to his room.
Although he had escaped Jaian earlier, his relief was short-lived. On the way home, he had tripped over a rock and fallen into a puddle, leaving him soaked and miserable.
Now, as he sat in his room, he could only think about what awaited him tomorrow. Knowing Jaian, the ordeal was far from over.
"Doraemon! You have to help me!" Nobita wailed. "Jaian's going to beat me up tomorrow for sure!"
Doraemon, who had been calmly reading a book, looked up with a sigh. "Nobita, you can't just rely on me every time you get into trouble. You need to learn to handle these situations yourself."
"But Doraemon, you don't understand! Jaian's really mad this time! If you don't help me, I'm doomed!" Nobita pleaded, tears streaming down his face.
Doraemon sighed again, but before he could respond, the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it," Doraemon said, floating toward the door.
When he opened it, he found Shizuka and Dekisugi standing outside.
"Hi, Doraemon. Is Nobita home?" Shizuka asked with a kind smile.
"Yes, he's in his room," Doraemon replied, stepping aside to let them in.
As Shizuka and Dekisugi entered, they found Nobita still crying.
"Nobita, pull yourself together," Dekisugi said gently. "We came to help you with your homework, not to listen to you cry."
Nobita sniffled and looked up at them. "Homework? I can't think about homework right now! Jaian's going to kill me tomorrow!"
Shizuka placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Nobita. We'll figure something out."
Dekisugi nodded in agreement. "But first, let's focus on finishing our homework. You'll need all the energy you can get for tomorrow."
