Apocalypse: Modifying Everything, Building an Iron Fortress

Chapter 37

Chapter 37: Another Group Has Their Eyes on the Police Station!

On the other side!

Jiang Cheng walked to the entrance of the convenience store and glanced inside through the glass door.

Thud, thud, thud!

Holding the fine-quality Gorkha knife, he tapped on the door frame and waited for a few seconds.

“Groan … Groan …”

Two faint growls came from inside the convenience store.

“Two of them, huh?”

Jiang Cheng mentally noted this and, without further delay, pushed open the glass door. He entered the store with a nail gun in one hand and the Gorkha knife in the other.

Thud! Thud!

Two shots from the nail gun quickly took care of the two zombies inside the convenience store.

“As expected, it’s no different from the supermarkets in Shangbin City—these shelves are cleaner than a whistle.”

Glancing around the small convenience store, Jiang Cheng, who hadn’t expected much, wasn’t surprised. He didn’t waste time trying to scavenge further and instead grabbed ten portable fuel cans that others wouldn’t bother looking at and left the convenience store.

By this time, Liu Yuqing had returned with the employee card. Seeing him, she asked, “You want to fill all of these too, right?”

Jiang Cheng set down the fuel cans. “Yeah, turn on all four pumps. One for the armored car, and the other three for these portable cans. Fill them all up.”

“Got it.”

Liu Yuqing nodded and walked over to the pumps, using the employee card to activate all four machines. She began fueling both the armored car and the portable cans.

Seeing that the fueling process was going smoothly, Jiang Cheng moved aside and opened his Bluetooth earpiece. “Jarvis, calculate how long it will take to fill everything.”

“Including the ten 60-liter portable fuel cans, it will take approximately five minutes to fill everything,” Jarvis replied.

“Any unusual activity near the police station?” Jiang Cheng inquired next.

“Sir, there’s a group of people approaching the police station.”

“Hmm? Someone else is after this police station too?” Jiang Cheng was slightly surprised. “How many people?”

“Sir, based on mobile signals and audio recordings, there are twelve individuals.”

Jarvis answered and then added, “I’ve intercepted surveillance footage near the police station. Would you like to review it?”

Jiang Cheng thought for a moment before responding! “No rush. Let’s finish fueling the cans and load them into the car first.”

After speaking, he turned back to help Liu Yuqing finish filling the ten fuel cans and load them into the car. Soon, the armored car’s 500-liter fuel tank was also full.

“Okay, let’s go!”

Seeing that everything was done, Jiang Cheng called out, and he and Liu Yuqing got back into the car, leaving the gas station.

A few minutes later!

Back on the main road, Jiang Cheng tapped his Bluetooth earpiece. “Jarvis, pull up the surveillance footage from around the police station.”

“Surveillance footage near the police station?” Liu Yuqing, sitting in the passenger seat, looked puzzled. “Did something happen?”

“A group of people also have their eyes on that police station,” Jiang Cheng explained briefly, then handed control of the vehicle back to Jarvis and focused his attention on the newly added tactical display screen on the LV2 armored car’s dashboard.

At that moment, Jarvis displayed the footage from the police station’s vicinity on the screen, allowing Jiang Cheng and Liu Yuqing to clearly see what the group looked like.

Twelve people! Nine men and three women!

Among them, two of the men were burly middle-aged individuals dressed in suits, looking like bodyguards.

The remaining ten people were split into two groups: four in police uniforms and six in designer clothes.

The police group consisted of two middle-aged male officers, one young male officer, and one female officer.

The female officer, notably, was over 1.7 meters tall, with long legs and an air of confidence. She was very attractive, definitely on par with Liu Yuqing.

The other six were young adults in their twenties. From their attire and behavior, it was clear that four of them were spoiled rich kids.

Looking at these people, Jiang Cheng became interested. “Jarvis, eavesdrop on their conversation!”

About 200 meters from the police station, in a narrow alley, the twelve individuals were gathered.

“What do we do now?”

“Stick to the plan. We’ll make some noise to lure the zombies out of the police station, then go in and search for supplies. Just remember, we have to be quick!”

“But we need to plan the route carefully …”

The two middle-aged police officers, Uncle Chen and Old Zhao, were speaking. After all, surviving this long meant they had some skill.

“Hold on a second, we’re not doing the job of luring out zombies!”

One of the young men in the designer group, wearing a patterned shirt, suddenly spoke up.

“Yeah, don’t expect us to handle something as dangerous as luring out zombies.”

“Our families’ companies are among the top in Shangbin. As taxpayers, you should be protecting us.”

“Exactly. What was wrong with staying in the villa? There are enough supplies there to last us at least a month. Once this crisis is over, the authorities will definitely send someone to get us. Then we’ll be safe.”

The other young men and women chimed in, clearly not eager to risk their lives. As spoiled rich kids, they were accustomed to living in luxury, and the idea of risking their lives was unthinkable.

In fact, they had already raided one police station yesterday and came back empty-handed. If they hadn’t run fast enough, they would have been zombie food by now.

“By the way, Officer, have you considered being our girlfriend? With your looks and figure, being a lowly officer is such a waste. If you come with us, we’ll make sure you live in comfort,” said one of the rich kids, a handsome young man with a buzz cut. He openly ogled the tall, slim female officer with long, beautiful legs, his eyes filled with greed and lust.

Bang!

But before he could finish his sentence, his expression twisted in pain, and just as he was about to scream, a gun was pointed at his head, forcing him to swallow the cry.

“If you look at me one more time, do you believe I won’t gouge out your eyes?”

The beautiful officer, Zhao Zhirou, stomped on his foot, her cold eyes filled with disgust.

“Don’t, don’t! Let’s talk this out…”

“Yeah, let’s talk…”

“Right, right…”

Seeing the gun in Zhao Zhirou’s hand, the other young men and women stepped back in fear. They might be arrogant, but they had never dealt with guns before. After all, this was a matter of life and death.

The two bodyguards nearby wanted to step in, but the other three officers stopped them. In this new world, things were different. Trying to throw your weight around like in the old days wouldn’t fly with them.

The bodyguards knew this too. They exchanged glances and sighed before stepping back.
