Yu-Gi-Oh GX : Dragon ruler

The next morning, I woke up, still in my Slifer Red dorm room. A big grin spread across my face. It wasn't a dream. I was still in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX.

But my excitement fizzled out as reality hit me. This was an academy, which meant I had to go to class. I groaned. I was in my twenties before coming here. I didn't want to go through that again.

Yet here i was, sitting in a classroom, surrounded by other Slifer Reds, as Vellian Crowler...excuse me, Vegan Crowler, droned on about Duel Monsters. The guy still had the same smug attitude from the show, even if he looked ridiculous in that pink suit.

At first, I thought it'd be cool—learning about Duel Monsters in a real Duel Academy. But this? This was child's play. Crowler was teaching the absolute basics, stuff I'd known since I was a kid. Seriously? This is supposed to be an elite school? The only good thing all day was the gym class by Miss Fontaine. She wore very tight gym clothes.

I slumped in my chair, trying not to yawn as Crowler explained how Tribute Summons worked.

"Now then." Crowler said, pacing dramatically at the front of the class "Alexia, can you tell me the answer to this question?" He pointed to Alexia, who was seated near the back with the other Obelisk blue.

Alexia stood up. "A Tribute Summon requires offering a specific number of monsters, depending on the level of the monster being summoned. For Level 5 or 6, you need one monster. For Level 7 or higher, you need two."

"Correct, Miss Rhodes." Crowler said, clearly pleased "At least someone is paying attention."

I rolled my eyes. Yeah, because a five-year-old could answer that.

Crowler's gaze shifted to Syrus, who sat a couple of seats away from me "Now, Mr. Truesdale." Crowler said with a sly smirk. "Can you tell me what a Field Spell is?"

Syrus froze, his face turning pale "Um… uh… it's, um… a card that, uh… changes… stuff?"

I groaned inwardly. Come on, Sy. It's not rocket science.

Syrus stammered, struggling to form a coherent answer. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore.

"It's a type of Spell Card that changes the environment of the duel." I said, leaning back in my chair "It applies effects to all players and stays on the field until it's destroyed or replaced. Only one can be active at a time."

The class went silent, and Crowler glared at me, clearly annoyed "And who, pray tell, are you to interrupt my lesson?"

"Shenlong." I replied casually, meeting his gaze "This is child play. Even a kid can answer these questions."

Crowler's lip curled "Well, Mr. Shenlong, perhaps you'd like to teach the class instead? Or better yet, refrain from answering unless called upon."

Before i could answer a Obelisk blue sneered "Big talk for a Slifer slacker."

"Yeah." another chimed in "If you think it's so easy, why don't you prove it?"

"Sure." I said, smirking "How about I duel all of you at once?"

The class erupted into murmurs. Even Jaden, who was sitting a few rows ahead, turned around with a big grin "Whoa, you're gonna duel all of them at once? That's awesome!"

Syrus, sitting beside me, looked horrified "Are you crazy, Shenlong? You'll get crushed!"

"Don't worry, if this class represent what the *elite* is capable of it will be easy." I grinned.

Chazz, lounging in his seat near the back, let out a laugh "This is going to be good. A Slifer trying to take on Obelisks? I wouldn't miss this for the world."

Alexia, who was sitting with her friends Jasmine and Mindy, didn't seem interested "Count me out."

Jasmine nodded "Same here."

Bastion Misawa, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up "it's an interesting strategy. If you're as confident as you seem, this could be a valuable demonstration of your skill. Or lack thereof."

Crowler, who had been watching the exchange with growing annoyance, finally spoke "Fine! If you're so eager to embarrass yourself, Mr. Shenlong, I'll allow it. But don't come crying when you get wiped out."

I grinned "Great. Let's head to the Duel Arena."

The classroom emptied as everyone followed us to the arena. The Obelisk Blues who'd challenged me were already discussing strategies amongst themselves, while I stood off to the side, shuffling my deck. Jaden walked over with a big grin "You're crazy, man, but i like it. Good luck out there!"

"Thanks. But don't worry, i'll win in one turn." I smirked.

Alexia approached, her arms crossed "You're either brave or reckless. Probably both. But I'll admit, I'm curious to see how this plays out."

I smirked "Don't blink. You might miss something cool."

The duel started, me against around 40 Obelisk Blue mostly boys but some girls joined too.

"This Slifer thinks he can take all of us on?" one of them sneered "Big mistake."

"Yeah, we're gonna crush you!" another added, grinning.

Chazz leaned back against the wall, arms crossed "This'll be entertaining. Watching the Slifer Slacker make a fool of himself."

One of the Obelisks stepped forward, activating his Duel Disk "I'll go first." He drew his card and slapped one down "I summon Gagagigo in Attack Position!" A reptilian warrior appeared on the field. (1800 ATK / 1000 DEF)

"Then I'll set a card face-down and end my turn." he said, smirking like he already won.

I drew a card. I smirked as i looked at it 'perfect'.

"What's so funny, Slifer?" An Obelisk snapped.

I held up my hand "You're about to find out."

"First, I discard Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks and Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from my hand to summon Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos from my deck!"

The arena shook as a massive fire dragon appeared, roaring so loud it made some of the Obelisks flinch. (2800 ATK / 1800 DEF)

"What is that?!" one of them yelled.

"I've never seen that card before!" another added.

"Because you wouldn't." I smirked "This is Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos. One of the most powerful cards you'll ever see."

"Interesting. I've never heard of a Dragon Ruler before." Bastion looked at Blaster.

"Now, I banish Blaster from my hand and Burner from the graveyard to special summon Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from my graveyard!" I continued.

Another dragon appeared, this one with green scales and winds swirling around it. (2400 ATK / 2200 DEF)

"Wait, he can summon another one like that?!" Syrus exclaimed.

"That's insane!" Jaden grinned "Shenlong's deck is awesome!"

"And when i banish Blaster, i get to add a Fire Dragon from my deck to my hand. I'll grab another Burner."

I slid my next card into the Duel Disk "Now, i activate Burial from a Different Dimension. This lets me return my banished Blaster and Burner to the graveyard."

Crowler growled "What is this nonsense?!"

"I'll show you nonsense." I said, sliding Burner back onto the field "I summon Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks from my hand!"

Syrus' jaw dropped "He's summoning so many powerful monsters so fast!"

"And it doesn't look like he's done yet." Jaden said, his grin widening.

"And now, I use Blaster, Tempest, and Burner to summon Trishula, the Dragon of Icy Imprisonment!" I announced.

The three dragons vanished, replaced by a massive ice dragon with three heads that sent chills through the arena. (2700 ATK / 2000 DEF)

"Since i summoned him by using three Dragon monsters, Trishula's effect activates! I banish one card from my deck, one card from the top of your deck, and one card from your Extra Deck!"

The Obelisk who played before me looked at his Duel Disks in shock as 2 cards were banished.

"This is robbery!" one of the Obelisks shouted.

"Not so fast!" the Obelisk yelled. "I activate my face-down card, Miniaturize! Now your monster loses 1000 ATK and reduce it's level by 1."

A glowing light enveloped Trishula, shrinking it. (2700 → 1700 ATK)

"Smart move." Alexis said.

I shrugged "Doesn't matter. You just delayed the inevitable. Now I activate Return of the Dragon Lords to summon Blaster from my graveyard!"

Blaster returned to the field, its flames blazing beside Trishula's icy aura.

"And finally, I activate Dragon's Light and Darkness! This gives Trishula an extra 1600 ATK!" (1700 → 3300 ATK)

"What ???" The Obelisk shouted.

"Unreal." Bastion muttered.

"Alright, Trishula, attack Gagagigo!" I commanded. The ice dragon shattered the reptilian warrior into nothing. (Obelisk LP: 4000 → 2550)

"Blaster, finish it!" I ordered. The fire dragon unleashed a torrent of flames, wiping out their Life Points. (Obelisk LP: 2550 → 0)

The duel ended, and the silence in the arena was deafening. The Obelisks stood frozen, their mouths open.

Crowler finally broke the silence, throwing his arms up "A Slifer won! Against Obelisks! All at once! Is this a sign of the apocalypse? Should I start packing my bags?!"

Jaden clapped, grinning from ear to ear "Dude, that was awesome! Shenlong, you're incredible!"

Syrus nodded rapidly "Yeah! What even are those cards? They're insane!"

"Cards you won't find anywhere else." I said, smirking.

Chazz snorted before leaving with the other Obelisks "Whatever. This was just a fluke. Don't get too cocky, Slifer."

Crowler looked like he bitten into a lemon "A Slifer... with this kind of deck? This is absurd!"

[So what do you think of this first duel ? And what do you think of the deck, what should i add and remove to improve it ? (It's not perfect because i want Shenlong to get new cards and improve the deck as much as possible (and because i'm shit at bulding decks 😅) (he will also get other decks in the future (i will do those only with cards that we can find in the Tag force 1, 2 and 3 games (on PS2 and PSP (but no syncro) so it's not too cheated) anyway.
