Chapter 2: Duel Academy
The room spun as i slammed my hand on the table.
"Alright, last turn ! *Burp*...Sorry. My Five-Headed Dragon is coming for you !" I smirked at my friend Matt, whose face was all red from the different alcohol we drank all night.
"Dude *hic*, you're not winning this." Matt replied as he leaned over the table trying to see the cards on the fields.
I laughed "Doesn't matter, you're *hic* done."
The rest of the guys laughed too, throwing half-assed comment and strategy.
Suddenly my head started to spin. Maybe it was the beers and the Tequila. We drank a lot after all, maybe set a new world record.
"Yo, Shenlong, you good ?" Jack, another friend, asked, his voice felt distant.
I blinked. My head felt heavy, everything became blurry and after a few seconds i fell backwards and everything became dark.
When i woke up, the sound of helicopter blades filled my ears. The steady thrum vibrated through my chest. My head felt heavy, and for a moment, i wasn't sure of where i was.
This definitely wasn't my livingroom. I looked around, i was siting on a sort of plane seat but much more comfortable, i looked at the window at my right and saw that we were in the middle of the ocean.
I stood up and saw that everyone here was wearing red, yellow and blue uniforms that looked vaguely familiar. And i saw that i had the same red uniform.
Across from me, three girls were talking. One of them, with blonde hair, blue eyes and a fantastic pair of b**** looked at me "Are you okay?"
It took me a second to process 'Wait... Alexis Rhodes? Nah... Can't be her.' "Yeah, just daydreaming." I grinned.
"What's your name?" The blonde asked, watching me carefully.
"Shenlong." I replied as i sat more comfortably on my seat.
"Well, Shenlong." the blonde said, giving me a small smile "We're almost at Duel Academy. Hope you're ready."
Duel Academy. That name hit me like a truck.
'I'm in Yu-Gi-Oh GX ??? Fuck fuck fuck fuck... Fuck yeah !!!' i couldn't beleive it. A world were dueling was everything. I was in Yu-Gi-Oh GX !.....wait... Does that mean the girl beside me is Alexia ?' my mind raced then it clicked as i looked at her more and yeah. It's definitely her.
Before I could think any further, the pilot's voice came over the intercom "We'll be arriving at Duel Academy in a few minutes. Prepare for landing."
The moment I stepped out, the fresh sea air hit me, and I got my first proper look at the iconic Duel Academy. It was massive. The giant building towered over the island.
We were herded into a large assembly hall, where a giant screen at the front lit up. A video of Chancellor Sheppard played, welcoming all of us to Duel Academy. I'll be honest, i barely listened. My head was still spinning from everything that had happened.
After the assembly, the students were split into groups based on their dorms. I only paid attention to the Slifer Reds since i was one of them. We were taken to our dorm, which was perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The place looked rough, a little run-down even.
The rooms were assigned, and mine was the last one on the second floor.
When I reached my room, I stepped inside and shut the door. It wasn't much, just a bunk bed, a desk, and a small closet. I threw my bag onto the bed and sat down, staring out the small window.
'Alright. I don't know how or why i'm here, but if i'm stuck in this world, i'm going to make the most of it.'
Thinking of it, i didn't look at my deck.
Curious, i opened it and started flipping through the cards. My heart nearly stopped when I saw the first one : Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos.
"What the...?!" I muttered, pulling the rest of the cards out. Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls. Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms. Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders. They were all here.
The Dragon Rulers.
"No way." My hands shook as I spread the cards across the desk. These were banned in my world for being way too powerful. I couldn't stop grinning "If these cards are legal here… i might just be unstoppable."
The thought of dominating this world's dueling scene with the Dragon Rulers sent a surge of excitement through me.
I shuffled the deck and slipped it into my duel disk "Alright, let's see what this academy has to offer."
I wandered around the campus, taking in the sights. The academy looked even better in person than in the anime. It all looked so impressive up close.
As I rounded a corner, i heard voices. Curious, i followed them until a Duel Arena.
"Bring it on." I heard a familiar voice.
I turned to where i heard the voice only to see Jaiden challenging Chazz.
Chazz scoffed "Don't think that just because you got lucky against Crowler, you can take on an elite duelist like me."
I couldn't help but interject "Hey, if Jaden beat Crowler, that means he's got some serious skills. Maybe you should show a little respect."
Chazz turned his glare toward me "And who are you supposed to be?"
"Name's Shenlong." I replied, meeting his gaze "Just calling it like i see it."
Before the tension could escalate further, Alexia Rhodes stepped forward "Chazz, we have our welcoming dinners to attend. This isn't the time for picking fights."
Chazz huffed, shooting one last glare at Jaden and me "Fine. But this isn't over, Yuki." With that, he turned and walked away, his Obelisk Blue lackeys following close behind.
Alexia turned to Jaden and me, offering a polite smile. "Sorry about that. Chazz can be... intense."
Jaden laughed it off. "No worries! I'm always up for a good duel."
I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, no harm done. Thanks for stepping in, Alexia."
She seemed slightly surprised that I knew her name but didn't comment on it. "You're welcome. Enjoy the rest of your evening."
As she walked away, Jaden turned to me, extending a hand "Nice to meet ya, Shenlong. You a new student here too?"
I shook his hand, smiling "Yeah, just got here. Looking forward to some exciting duels."
"Same here! Catch ya later!" Jaden said, heading off toward the Slifer Red dorms with Sirius.
I made my way back to my dorm, my mind buzzing with the day's events. As i lay in bed, i couldn't help but wonder if this was all just a dream. But as sleep overtook me, i hoped that when i woke up, i'd still be in this incredible world.
