Chapter 20 - You Will Never Be Alone in The Small Bar II
“What are you thinking about?” Han Zhuo put another glass of wine in front of him. This time it was a mojito with strawberry. The color was very cute.
Bai Xi sighed gloomily: “Last night I was still sympathizing with the superpowers and felt they were pitiful, but now I realize that my situation is even worse.” At least superpowers could help each other. They were dependent on each other, but there would always be only one person of their own. Whether it was for earthlings or people with supernatural powers, they were both unexpected and alternative existences. Once their identities were exposed, they might be betrayed by both parties at any time.
“You still have me.” Han Zhuo tidied up the bar, “So we will never be alone.”
Bai Xi: “…”
Bai Xi confirmed again: “You must be able to read minds!”
Mr. Han was very innocent: “I really can’t.”
Bai Xi still didn’t believe him. So, he secretly thought that Mr. Han was a gentle scum. There were eighteen identical ugly gray shirts in his cupboard. With his glasses on, he looked like a good teacher, but without his glasses, he looked like a midnight cowboy.
Han Zhuo suddenly stretched out his hand and pulled him across the bar counter hard.
“Ah!” Bai Xi was caught off guard and turned into a parabola. He panicked, so he hugged his head and yelled, “You’re so awesome!”
Han Zhuo didn’t hear clearly: “What?”
“You said you can’t read minds!” Bai Xi had the evidence and was confident. “Become a pervert! I knew it, your superpower can turn someone into a pervert by thinking with your mind!”
“I really don’t know how.” Han Zhuo couldn’t help but put him on the ground and said, “Mom.”
Bai Xi: “…”
Who?
Daisy’s sneak attack attempt had failed, and she was sitting on a high chair, looking at the two people with interest.
“Hello, aunt.” Bai Xi looked back calmly, with a bright and innocent smile, good-natured and polite.
“I can testify that he really can’t read minds, otherwise he wouldn’t have been quarreling with me because of some inexplicable misunderstandings.” Daisy knocked on the bar, “I want this lovely strawberry wine too, thank you.”
Han Zhuo turned around to make her drink. Daisy asked again, “Why do you think that?”
“Uh, do you mean mind reading?” Bai Xi was a little embarrassed, “Because he can guess what I’m thinking every time, so…”
Daisy giggled: “This shows that you two have a tacit understanding, sweetheart, and it’s not because of any special powers.”
Bai Xi did not refute, because the tacit understanding was better than mind reading, it was much better.
“How’s it going on Mrs. Huang’s end?” Han Zhuo put a glass of wine in front of her.
Bai Xi was surprised. Mrs. Huang? Huang Jingyuan’s wife?
“She is indeed a superpower, but her parents are ordinary people.” Daisy replied, “Zhao Yuejin and Mrs. Zhao adopted this baby girl from the orphanage. Everything was normal at the beginning, but probably when Zhao Xiaojuan was twenty-three years old, something strange happened.”
The Zhao family were ordinary people and of course didn’t know about the existence of superpowers and underground warehouse. In panic, they originally wanted to send their daughter back to their hometown village, but Zhao Xiaojuan refused.
“What is her superpower?” Bai Xi asked.
“Penetration.” Daisy said, “She would often pass through the bedroom wall to the living room in a very confused state, or simply fall from the second floor to the first floor. In fact, there is no lethality, but unfortunately, there was no one to teach her how to control her powers.”
“Where’s Huang Jingyuan?” Han Zhuo said, “Zhao Xiaojuan sounds very timid. Logically speaking, she should be willing to go back to her hometown to escape when she is most panicked. If she refuses, then the reason is Huang Jingyuan, right?”
Daisy nodded.
It was in the ancient books room of the city library. Zhao Xiaojuan originally wanted to check some old books to see if she could find any records about special powers. However, in a sudden drowsiness, she walked straight through three or four iron shelves filled with old books as if sleepwalking, appearing in front of Huang Jingyuan, who was also looking for a book.
What happened next sounded very logical. The panicked young girl and the generous and considerate man who was willing to help her keep her secret, just like the beginning of a fairy tale, soon began to date, and Zhao Xiaojuan naturally rejected Zhao Yuejin’s suggestion to move to their hometown village.
“Huang Jingyuan became the little boss of the underground warehouse. Did this happen before or after his marriage to Zhao Xiaojuan?” Han Zhuo asked again.
Daisy put down the empty wine glass: “Guess?”
Bai Xi said without thinking, “After that.”
Daisy nodded: “The cuts on Zhao Xiaojuan’s body are not due to world-weariness or depression. This marriage is just a tool for Huang Jingyuan to climb up. Before the honeymoon period was over, he personally sent his wife to the underground warehouse and made her one of the experimental subjects, in the name of love.”
Bai Xi felt a little creeped out.
At this point, Daisy sighed again: “Also, she is pregnant, and she just got the diagnosis from the hospital this afternoon.”
