Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 114: Chapter 114: War (Part 1)

The deep sound of a horn echoed across the plains. On the land known as the Black Bone Plains, millions of insectoids surged like a tide.

Due to the Mother Insect God's command, three insect nations near the Black Bone Plains gathered all insects within their hives that had reached the level of a first-tier creature. Insects from other nations were also streaming in continuously.

Among these insects were veterans who had charged in battles against the Subterranean Demon Spiders and those who had singlehandedly slain beasts as large as hills, like the Armored Rhinoceros. Their names were renowned within their hives, but on this battlefield, they were merely ordinary troops.

What kind of enemy justified the assembly of such a massive force from three insect nations?

The answer soon became apparent.

"What is that thing?" an insectoid exclaimed in terror.

A colossal entity emerged from the void, casting a massive shadow over the Black Bone Plains with just one of its corners.

The High Priest at the center watched the Floating City, his body trembling slightly.

Closing his eyes, he prayed:

"Mother Insect God, may your radiance protect us."

Unlike the High Priest, the warrior insect commander next to him was filled with excitement.

Since the last Subterranean Demon Spider fell to his scythes, the thirty-six insect nations had not seen war for thousands of years.

As an insectoid evolved through physical prowess, his body yearned for battle.

"All insects, prepare! For the glory of the Mother Insect God!"

The warrior insect commander roared, soaring into the sky. His chitinous scythes gleamed like jade, exuding a terrifying sharpness.

He had once used these arms to annihilate the Subterranean Demon Spiders. Now, he was ready to add more achievements to their legacy...

A white light shot from the Floating City, engulfing the warrior insect commander in an instant.

The insect horde fell silent.

As the Floating City fully entered the world, an opening slowly appeared in its lower half, releasing countless bizarre creatures.

These creatures, some scaled and armored, others ablaze, ranged from several meters long to less than one meter. They came in various forms and species—flesh and blood beings, elemental entities. The only commonality was their frenzied assault on the Black Crystal Insectoids below.

"What a mad race," the High Priest remarked, his antennae twitching as he issued a command.

"All forces, attack! Exterminate these extraterrestrial invaders!"

...

"The mixed slave army has been deployed. War airships, prepare."

Within the Floating City, a cold mechanical voice echoed through the war machine layer.

The deployed slave army primarily consisted of the Grand Wizard's own otherworldly slaves and war-grade synthetic beasts, hereafter referred to as warbeasts. A smaller portion came from participating wizards' collections. Their role was simple: trigger enemy defenses, disrupt their formations, gather intelligence for the wizards, and deplete enemy resources.

This was the first strike in the wizards' interdimensional expedition.

The wizards' planar wars followed a three-pronged strategy: first, the slave army triggered traps, disrupted enemy plans, and provided wizards with information while draining enemy firepower. Second, the white wizard army and war airships executed area-of-effect spell bombardments. Finally, the black wizard army mopped up survivors and expanded the victory achieved by the white wizards.

Standing in the airship cabin, Richard's communication crystal ball intermittently relayed strategic suggestions from the command center.

The slave army's probing yielded initial results, allowing the experienced third-circle wizards in the command center to make preliminary assessments of the indigenous creatures.

"This world is tentatively named the Insectoid Hive World. Magic concentration is three times that of the wizard world. The air contains special spores, mildly toxic; immunity requires a physique of sixty points or higher.

The world has unique rules: eternal night, amplification of shadow spells, and no elemental imbalance.

The indigenous race is provisionally named the Black Crystal Insectoids. Their main combat forces are divided into two types: melee physical evolutionists with scythe-like arms and spiritual evolutionists who use mental power to manipulate elements.

Most physical evolutionists in this race have a preliminary physique of sixty points, specialize in cutting-type physical damage, have low elemental resistance, and no special resistances. Spell attacks are recommended."

Listening to the information from the communication crystal ball, Richard smiled at Ellie beside him:

"Looks like this is a prime opportunity for you evocation wizards."

To a race lacking special elemental resistances, wizards specializing in elements and energies were their most fearsome adversaries.

Ellie leaned on her staff, the fiery gem at its tip radiating intense heat.

"There's no such thing as a prime opportunity. Any race capable of ruling a world will have countermeasures against elemental attacks. In the end, it's all about energy levels."

She glanced enviously at the alchemical golem by Richard's side.

"But your golem can both attack and defend, and you're on the path of bloodline alchemy. As long as you avoid particularly dangerous areas, you'll likely survive this war, maybe even make a fortune."

Richard smiled, choosing not to argue.

Though the alchemical golem was formidable, his true assurance was Ulysses perched on his shoulder.

...

On the battlefield, the slave army clashed with the Black Crystal Insectoids.

A massive fire giant roared, hurling fireballs that exploded in the insect horde, splattering green blood. But before it could celebrate, a warrior insect charged forward, slicing its elemental core in two.

A bloodflesh giant snake, meters long, rampaged through the insectoids, its victims either crippled or killed outright. But soon, a pack of warrior insects targeted it.

In a flash, blades flickered, and the giant snake was swiftly diced into chunks by dozens of warrior insects working in unison.

Above, scaled dragonbirds breathed fire, reducing everything in its path to ash. Observing the situation, priest insects cast spells, unleashing thunderstorms and flame torrents upon the dragonbirds, with a mysterious white light immobilizing them.

The battle was fiercely contested.

At the center of the Black Crystal Insectoid horde, three High Priests gathered.

"These aliens are terrifying, fighting with reckless abandon," remarked a High Priest draped in white silk, with gold-threaded antennae.

"But our warriors are equally valiant," replied the High Priest opposite him, adorned with a gold-ringed neck.

"And our warriors are numerous. Reinforcements from other insect nations are steadily streaming in."

"Judging by the current situation, six insect nations at most could handle these extraterrestrial invaders," the third High Priest spoke slowly. "Yet the Mother Insect God's decree was sent to every insect nation."

"What do you mean?" asked the gold-ringed High Priest, his antennae twitching.

"The Mother Insect God's greatness is beyond question. We must not be complacent."

...

The slave army was quickly depleted. In just five days, nearly half of the million-strong slave army was expended. The Black Crystal Insectoids suffered losses several times greater, but reinforcements from other insect nations continued to flood the Black Bone Plains.

As a result, the number of Black Crystal Insectoids now seemed even greater than before the battle began.

Nonetheless, the slave army's sacrifice was not in vain. It provided the wizards with invaluable firsthand data, allowing them to devise strategies against the Black Crystal Insectoids within their own combat frameworks.

"The slave army has expended over half its forces. White wizard army, prepare!"

"The slave army has expended over half its forces. White wizard army, prepare!"

The cold announcement echoed through the war machine layer, as all white wizards moved to their positions, awaiting the command center's orders.

As the lower portion of the Floating City opened once more, hundreds of war airships flew out in succession, with the majority of white wizards forming a military formation around each airship.

This white wizard army, composed of formal wizards, was far from the ragtag group Richard had seen during his apprenticeship. Each school of magic had its designated role.

"All wizards, prepare! Forward direction, wide-area elemental spells, free release!"

With the white wizard commander's order, the soul wizards responsible for relaying commands transmitted the message through the mental network to every wizard. Tens of thousands of elemental spells were released almost simultaneously, raining down on the Black Crystal Insectoid horde and clearing a swath of ground.

Simultaneously, the war airships began their assault.

Hundreds of small alchemical magic stone cannons extended from beneath the airships, showering elemental fireballs onto the insectoids, each shot claiming an insectoid's life.

Screams and wails filled the battlefield.

"Mother Insect God above, these extraterrestrial invaders aren't as easy as we thought."

At the center of the Black Crystal Insectoid horde, the High Priest observed the "metal fish" in the sky, his antennae twitching.

To his knowledge, the wizards' war airships were nothing more than flying behemoths clad in metal. And those white wizards were merely spell-casting insects.

In the Aldo world, the Black Crystal Insectoids had encountered such creatures before, and they all eventually became their prey.

The High Priest raised his antennae, issuing a mental command to the lower-ranking priest insects, who then relayed the order downwards, rapidly disseminating the High Priest's command.

The command was simple—deploy the Moth Legion!

The Moth Legion, the Black Crystal Insectoids' aerial conquest force.

These insects had specially reinforced wings, allowing them to fly swiftly at high altitudes and change direction at will. More importantly, the Moth Legion comprised dual-trained spiritual and physical combatants, making them the elite force of the Black Crystal Insectoids.

Upon receiving the command, the previously concealed Moth Legion sprang into action.

In an instant, a swarm of insects rose from one end of the Black Bone Plains, resembling a black dust storm, threatening to engulf the entire plain.

"Detected new species. Adjust formation to Formation One. Formation One. War airships provide fire support."

The military command issued orders, prompting the white wizard army to rapidly adjust formations. The war airships now assumed their most crucial role—providing firepower support.

In moments, the airships unleashed a barrage of firepower like a torrential downpour, and at the front of each airship, a main cannon, shimmering with magical energy, revealed its muzzle.

"Clustered enemy detected. Deploy Chain Lightning Rounds!"

"Prepare, fire!"

Buzz!

The airship's main cannon fired a ball of lightning, which, upon contact with the insect swarm, transformed into a web of lightning, reducing hundreds of insects to char in a chain reaction.

"Chain Lightning effective. Prepare, fire!"

The war airships roared with fury, casting web after web of lightning to intercept the insects. Countless insectoids fell like charred raindrops.

Even so, the swarm continued its relentless approach.

Just as they were about to engage in close combat, the central formation of the white wizard army completed its reconfiguration.

"Formation change complete. War airships, cease support."

With that, the white wizard commander roared through the mental network:

"All white wizards, prepare Chain Lightning, ready, fire!"
