When a God of Destruction Was Reincarnated in Tensura:

Chapter 53: DireWolves

The elder Goblin led Rimuru to a gathering of the villagers, where he explained the direwolves' attacks in more detail.

"At night, the direwolves come," the elder said, his voice heavy with grief. "They have been relentless ever since Lord Veldora disappeared. My eldest son... he was the only named Goblin in our village. He gave his life to protect us, but the wolves killed him, and we've been defenseless ever since."

Rimuru folded his arms, frowning. So these direwolves have been terrorizing them nonstop? No wonder this village is in such bad shape. Alright, I guess I'll handle this myself.

"Alright," Rimuru said. "We'll prepare for their attack tonight. No more running. From now on, we fight back."

The Goblins looked at him in awe, their fear beginning to wane.

Rimuru began issuing orders. He directed some of the Goblins to gather any materials they could find to build makeshift barricades. He used his Steel Thread skill to create an invisible web in front of the village to act as a trap and barrier. Other Goblins were tasked with sharpening their weapons and practicing basic defensive formations under Rimuru's guidance.

"Listen up!" Rimuru said, his voice carrying authority. "Stick to your positions and don't panic. I've set traps around the entrance. When the direwolves come, let me handle the leader. The rest of you focus on staying alive."

"Yes, great one!" the Goblins shouted, their spirits bolstered by Rimuru's confidence.

Nightfall

The forest grew quiet as the moon rose high, casting an eerie glow over the village. The Goblins stood in their positions, gripping their weapons nervously. Rimuru stood at the front, his senses sharp.

Suddenly, a distant howl echoed through the trees, sending chills down the spines of the Goblins.

"They're here," Rimuru said, his voice calm but firm.

Direwolf POV

The direwolf leader, a massive wolf with dark fur and glowing red eyes, stood at the head of his pack. He growled as he addressed his subordinates.

"Tonight, we finish the Goblins once and for all. Their weak defenses won't stand against us. Once we crush them, the forest will know who the true rulers are!"

The pack howled in unison, their bloodlust palpable.

As they approached the Goblin village, the leader's keen eyes spotted something unusual. The Goblins were lined up in defensive positions, and at the center of it all stood... a human?

"What's this?" the leader snarled. "A weak human dares to stand in our way? Well, no matter. He'll be our first meal of the night."

Back to Rimuru

The direwolves emerged from the shadows, their glowing eyes and sharp teeth striking fear into the hearts of the Goblins. Rimuru stepped forward, his calm demeanor contrasting with the chaos around him.

The direwolf leader growled, stepping closer. "What is a puny human doing here? Do you intend to protect these Goblins? You'll die along with them."

Rimuru's eyes narrowed. "I'll give you one warning. Leave now, or die."

The leader laughed, baring his fangs. "You dare threaten me? I am the alpha of this pack! I will feast on your flesh and the flesh of these Goblins tonight!"

Rimuru sighed. "So be it."

The leader lunged, his massive body hurtling toward Rimuru, jaws wide open. The Goblins behind Rimuru screamed in fear, bracing themselves for the worst.

But the moment the leader got close, his body was caught in an intricate web of Steel Thread. The threads tightened around him, immobilizing him mid-air.

"What?! What is this?!" the leader roared, thrashing violently. But the more he struggled, the tighter the threads became.

Rimuru didn't hesitate. He raised his hand, activating Wind Cutter. A blade of wind shot forward, slicing cleanly through the direwolf leader's neck. The massive wolf's body fell to the ground with a heavy thud, his head rolling to the side.

The rest of the direwolves froze in place, their eyes wide with fear.

Rimuru turned to the pack, his voice cold and commanding. "Your leader is dead. Are you going to die foolishly like him, or are you going to leave?"

The wolves hesitated, growling and looking at one another. Their confidence wavered as Rimuru's aura pressed down on them.

Then, one of the direwolves, slightly smaller than the leader, stepped forward cautiously. Rimuru sensed no killing intent from him and raised an eyebrow.

The wolf lowered his head and spoke, his voice trembling. "Y-You defeated our leader. By the laws of the pack, that makes you our new leader. We submit to you, great one."

The rest of the pack followed suit, bowing their heads in submission.

The Goblins gasped in astonishment.

Rimuru smirked. Well, that was easier than I thought.

"Alright," he said, addressing the wolves. "If you're going to follow me, you'll follow my rules. No more attacking the Goblins. From now on, we work together. Got it?"

"Yes, great one!" the wolves howled in unison.

The Goblins erupted into cheers, their fear replaced by hope. The direwolves, now loyal to Rimuru, approached the Goblins cautiously, signaling the start of an unexpected alliance.
