Whats's it like to have a fleet that can only recuirt female soldiers?

Chapter 2: Chapter-2

The first time, the second time.

Before Zhao Chen could process what was happening, a cursor began to move rapidly among the three options, like a roulette wheel spinning.

Finally, it stopped at option 2.

[Congratulations to the host for obtaining the "Fleet Luck Bonus" and "Eye of Insight"! However, please note: you must unconditionally implement the rule that "The fleet can only recruit female soldiers." Violation of this rule will result in the loss of the aforementioned rewards and unknown punishments!]

Zhao Chen covered his face in disbelief.

"Only female soldiers... This rule is ridiculous. But strangely, I feel a little... excited?" Zhao Chen muttered to himself.

"Forget it. Since I can't change it, I'll just have to accept it."

Shaking off his frustration, Zhao Chen decided to focus on the rewards.

The first was the "Fleet Luck Bonus." As the name suggested, Zhao Chen and everything under his fleet's name would gain a certain level of luck enhancement. The exact effects were unclear, as luck was inherently mysterious.

The second reward, "Eye of Insight," was far more straightforward. It allowed Zhao Chen to discern hostility or murderous intent from any entity on his starship. In other words, as long as Zhao Chen stayed on his ship, he would be completely safe from betrayal or sudden attacks.

At that moment, the class ended.

"Classmates, that's all for today. This semester is wrapping up, and practical training will begin next term," the instructor announced, standing at the podium.

"Because all of you are part of the Captain Department, you'll need a starship of your own for training.

"You can either purchase one outright or exchange it for college points you've accumulated over the past three years.

"The crew for your starship can be recruited from other departments or hired externally, as long as they meet academy regulations."

With that, the teacher left the room, leaving the students in an uproar.

Discussions filled the air as everyone excitedly talked about their plans.

"My dad already prepared a T2-level Star Destroyer for me," someone boasted. "It's the latest model and has been the most sought-after starship for the past decade!"

"Tsk, that's nothing. Real men drive interstellar battleships—big ships with big guns! That's the ultimate dream!"

"Some of us aren't that rich," another student chimed in. "I'll settle for a frigate just to pass the course."

Zhao Chen couldn't help but daydream about his own starship. Like most boys, he had always dreamed of soaring through the universe.

"Old Zhao, have you decided on your ship yet?" Li Wei asked, walking over to him. "You better act fast. The good ships on the academy's exchange list will get snapped up quickly. And don't forget—you still need to recruit a crew."

Zhao Chen glanced at him and asked casually, "What about you? How's your preparation going?"

With a grin, Li Wei held up his wrist, showing a sleek, watch-like terminal. A holographic projection displayed a detailed starship model.

"The T2-class Hyena medium destroyer," Li Wei said proudly. "Market price: 4.3 million star coins. My dad bought it for me, and even arranged for a crew of retired veterans—all with over ten years of service!"

After a pause, Li Wei looked at Zhao Chen with concern.

"If you can't find a decent ship in the college warehouse, let me know. I can ask my dad to help—"

"Thanks, but I've already got something in mind," Zhao Chen interrupted with a smile. "After dinner, I'll finalize my choice."

Li Wei nodded, though still worried. His family, prominent in interstellar trade, had the resources to afford such luxuries. Zhao Chen, on the other hand, was a baron in title but poor in reality.

Zhao Chen's territory—a single-star system—was barren and lacked resources. Worse, it couldn't support a star gate, rendering it isolated and commercially insignificant.

Still, Zhao Chen refused to accept handouts, his pride as steadfast as ever.

As they walked to the cafeteria, Li Wei noticed Zhao Chen looking distracted.

"Let's sit over there," Li Wei said, steering Zhao Chen toward a side table.

But Zhao Chen had already noticed her—Jiang Shasha.

Jiang Shasha, his fiancée.

Or at least, she was supposed to be.

At that moment, Jiang Shasha was sitting with another boy. Everyone in the academy knew this boy had been pursuing her.

Li Wei sighed. "Great, a narrow road for enemies. Why does she keep showing up?"

Zhao Chen's engagement to Jiang Shasha was arranged when they were children. She came from a noble family in his territory, and their union had seemed natural.

But since entering the academy, Jiang Shasha had changed. Surrounded by wealthier, more influential suitors, she began to distance herself from Zhao Chen.

Zhao Chen had tried to salvage their relationship but was met with rejection after rejection.

"That seat by the window looks nice," Zhao Chen said suddenly, cutting through Li Wei's thoughts.

Ignoring Li Wei's attempt to redirect him, Zhao Chen walked straight toward Jiang Shasha.
