Chapter 8: CHAPTER 7
Trinity opened her eyes slowly, only to find herself lying under the mango tree. It was dark and as she got up to leave she noticed that her dress had changed, instead of wearing her floral sundress, she was now wearing a long white nighty. She looked around but she couldn't see her house anywhere, a flat area of nothing covering the whole place. She couldn't tell whether it was grass, or just soil.
She heard laughter, like a little girl playing happily outside, but she couldn't see anyone yet. ''Hello?'' She called out, as she looked everywhere for the source of the voice. No one answered, but the laughter grew louder. She turned around, and saw herself, standing a few feet away, still laughing. This other her was wearing an orange dress, much like the one she was wearing. She became silent when she noticed Trinity looking at her and came forward.
''Hello there, how are you?'' She questioned Trinity, as they both stared at each other. ''Trinity, are you ok?''
''Am I dead?'' Trinity asked, not sure if this was a dream, or if she was already in heaven.
''No, you're just in a dream state, neither dead, nor alive,'' The other girl replied calmly.
''How do you know me?''
''I've known you all your life, now its time you get to know me.''
''Okay..., who are you?''
''I am your dragon.''
''What?'' Trinity asked in shock.
With that question being asked, the other girl transformed into a dragon, much like the one she had transformed into earlier. The strange thing was, instead of fear, Trinity felt a sense of peace and love. ''What's your name?'' She asked her friend, who had turned back into a human.
''You can call me anything you like, I don't have a name. I'm a part of you.''
Trinity thought for a moment, ''I'll call you Dragonia. what do you think?''
''Dragonia?.... That sounds unique. I love it,'' She said smiling.
''So Dragonia, can I ask you something?''
''Sure.''
''How long have you been here?''
''From your birth. I have always been with you.''
''Why didn't I know about you before?''
''Because you had always been calm, never getting angry enough to unleash me.''
''So my anger unleased you?''
''Yup. Trinity, I love talking to you, but you must go back. If you stay here any longer, you will die,'' Dragonia said with concern.
''How do I go back?'' Trinity asked, looking scared. She didn't want to die without meeting her father.
''Just lay still, close your eyes and think about why you want to be alive.''

Trinity could hear voices in a distance, but couldn't make out what they were saying. They were hushed whispers that seemed to come from far away, yet it sounded like they were calling her.
She opened her eyes slowly and tried moving but immediately regretted her decision as a sharp pain rose in her chest causing her to moan loudly. Just then, a hand placed itself gently on her forehead and patted it slowly.
"You should rest princess," The calming voice of her father came to her ears. She took a deep breath as her vision cleared, and the handsome face of her dad came into view.
"Da---," She tried talking, but her father stopped her. "Shhh, honey, don't say anything. You need rest. We'll talk later. The first change is always hard."
He handed her a cup and said, "Drink this, you'll feel better."
Trinity took the cup and drank something sweet and cold. "Mmm, what is this?" She asked, looking at her father.
"It's chocolate mixed with honey and jaggery. It's chilled so the burned inside will cool down and heal faster. it'll also prevents gastric."
Triyast was wearing a grey tee shirt and a cargo pants and his glasses was gone. He was looking at his daughter with a small smile.
"What is it?," Trinity asked, looking at her father, confused.
"No, nothing... Just that I never thought we'd meet like this," He said, with half a smile.
"Yeah, I still don't believe you're in front of me."
Trinity suddenly remembered her mother, "Daddy, how's mom? Is she ok?" She asked hurriedly, concern written all over her face.
"Don't worry, she's fine. She's downstairs with Derek and Patrick."
Trinity realised at this moment that she was not in her room, but somewhere else. "Dad... where are we?" She asked looking around.
"Welcome to my humble home," He replied, gesturing towards the room.
Trinity looked around. This room had a dresser on the left corner, a door on the right side, probably leading to the restroom, the main door, which was ajar and a huge cupboard opposite the bed. The windows were beside the dresser, overlooking a beautiful mountain.
Trinity took a look at herself and was shocked to find that she was wearing the white nighty from her dream. Even worse was the thought that followed, "Ummm...Dad? where's the dress I was wearing?"
"It was nearly all burnt, so your mom change..."
Trinity let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in. A breath of relief. ''Hey dad, I had a dream..." "So you found your dragon?" Her father asked excitedly.
"Yeah... but you know the shocking thing was that in my dream, I was wearing this dress." She pointed towards the cloth she was wearing.
"And what colour was your dragon wearing?"
"Orange."
"So you're an orange fire dragon."
"Dad, I wanna know everything about us... dragons."
There was a small knock at the door and they saw Dorin standing there. "Hey, Rin, how are you feeling," she asked as she came in.
"Mom, I'm ok. How are you? I mean, did I hurt you?" She asked, looking at her mother up and down.
"Oh no hon, I'm fine. You didn't hurt me."
"I'm so sorry..."
"I'm the one who should be sorry. I...I..." She looked at Triyast, "I owe you an apology too. All these years, you were right," she said with tear filled eyes.
"It's ok D. I'm just glad you're all ok."
"Wait... You knew...?" Trinity asked her mother.
"I... I... --" "Trin, you're a dragon... that's so cool," Derek's voice cut through the tension that was building between the mother daughter duo. He sounded so excited, almost like he had hit the ultimate lottery. "Anyways, how are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling fine," Trinity smiled. The pain in her chest had disappeared by now and she was feeling much better. She got out of bed and walked around a little. "Yeah, I'm feeling so much better now."
"Great, so let's go downstairs and we'll talk there," Her father said, as he lead the way out of the room, towards the stairs. Everyone else followed behind him, Derek was the first, followed by Trinity than their mother.
Patrick was sitting on the couch, with his chin resting on his thumb, elbows resting on his thigh. He got up when he saw everyone coming towards him. "Trinity, how are you?"
He asked in concern.
"I'm much better." Trinity was now bored of that question.
"So Triyast, you were right. I still...," Patrick started but was cut short with, "Wait, am I missing something here? Mom knew, you too knew but no body told me?" Trinity asked half angry. She was a dragon and they both knew but never told her; not even as a joke. Why would they do that?
"Princess, calm down. Let me explain everything," Triyast said, gesturing for her to sit. The last thing anyone wanted was to make Trinity angry.
"What's going on, dad?" She asked, as she took a seat.
"You're a human-dragon hybrid."
"You mean something like a weredragon?"
"Kind of, but it's early for you to change. Usually, human dragons turn at 20years, but you are 17?"
Trinity nodded. "How do you two know," She asked her mom and Patrick.
Her mother took a deep breath before beginning, "Your father and I met at Cupids Heart, way back when we were still in college. He used to tell me that he was a dragon, but obviously I didn't believe him, because he didn't change in front of me. It wasn't until you were born, when he started talking strangely, like he wanted to take you to the volcano and stuff. I thought he was getting crazy, then one day, it became too much. He almost threw you into the fire."
Trinity gasped, as Dorin continued, "I thought he wanted to kill you, so I packed my stuff and left with you. You were two at that time. A few weeks later, I had returned, 'cause your dad wouldn't stop calling. By the time you turned 7, I couldn't take it anymore so I left, for good."
She let her tears flow freely. "I should have believed you," she said, looking at her former husband. "I thought you wanted to take my child away."
"It's ok, Dorin. I would've done the same thing, if I were in your place," Triyast said soothingly.
Trinity just got up and hugged her mother. She now understood why she was always trying to control her. She was protecting her from who she thought wanted to kill her.
