What's wrong with me?

Chapter 5: CHAPTER 4

''Mom is everything ok?'' Trinity asked as she entered her house. She looked around, but found no one in the living room, but she could hear voices in the kitchen. She felt odd, as if she had just entered a strangers house. Upon following the voices, she found herself in front of her uncle and aunt. She was so surprised to see them both, since it had been ages since they last saw each other.

''UNCLE PHIL! AUNT MAGGIE!'' she exclaimed as she ran toward them. Phillip was Patrick's older brother, who worked in real estate, and Margret was his wife, who was a travel agent and they lived in the other side of Craven Falls.

''Ah, there she is! how are you?'' Phillip asked happily.

''It's been such a long time honey,'' Margret added, hugging her tightly.

''Oh I'm good. How have you been?" She asked them, hugging the man who looked so much like his brother.

''We're all great. How was school?''

''You've grow up so much!''

Her mother made her a cup of coffee as she spoke about her life with their visitors. She had almost forgotten about what had happened earlier at work. Suddenly it hit her like a rocket, that this was the reason her mother had actually called her boss, without asking her, and got her a day-off.

''Mom, did you call Cupidra today?'' Trinity blurted out all of a sudden. She already knew the answer, but somewhere deep inside, she hoped her mom would say no.

''Yes, why?'' Her mom replied, like nothing was wrong.

''Who's Cupidra?'' Margret asked, looking at Dorin.

''She's m.....'' Trinity tried to reply

''No one, just an old friend,'' Dorin cut her short. ''It's no big deal.''

''No big deal? What do you mean 'no big deal'?'' Trinity couldn't contain her anger any longer, a frown forming at her forehead. Cupidra was her boss, she could get fired for this and it was no big deal for her mother. She loved her job, since it was the only place in the world she felt like she fitted, and for her mom it was no big deal. Well, it wasn't like her mother was too keen of her working, but than again, she wouldn't loose anything.

''Rin... there's no need to get upset...''

''Upset? You called my boss... yes aunt Maggie, she's my boss... and took a day-off for me WITHOUT my knowledge, and you're telling me not to get upset...''

''We'll talk later,'' Her mother just abrutally ended the conversation.

''BU...''

''Just go to your room! NOW!!!''

Her mother always did this to her. she didn't know why she always tried to stop her from doing anything she liked. It was like she was a puppet and her mother was the pupped master, she had to do what she was told, without ever receiving an explanation. 'Don't talk to daddy because I said so'. 'Don't go to work because I said so'. Don't do this, don't do that, don't go here ,don't go there all because she says so. Her life was so full of 'Don't and why'. All she ever wanted was to be herself, but no, she couldn't even do that.

The warm shower calmed her down as it ran through her hair and down her body. The smell of her lavender soap made her feel like she was at a spa, getting a full body massage. It was so refreshing.

It took hours for her to untangle her hair, the hair cream helping a lot. She was in her shorts and a plain tee shirt. Just as she was finishing tying her hair in a bun, she heard her mother calling her and she decided to totally ignore it. There was another call; and another. She ignored them all. Why should she listen to anyone, when they don't listen to her. She felt like she was invisible at times, and a maid at other times.

The lake could be seen from her room, clear as the sun during the day. She stared out at it, after wearing her headphone, so that if anyone came into her room to check on her, they'll think that she didn't hear her being called. The sun had started to set by now, making the scene more beautiful. A wonderful orange-red reflection of the setting sun was pasted on the water, making it look like it was on fire. The birds began returning to their homes in the trees and she could see some bats starting to come out and fly towards the sky.

She suddenly felt a hand grab her headphone. Looking up, she saw her mother and she looked really angry. ''I've been calling you for the past 10 minutes. Why aren't you listening?''

''I was listening to my music,'' She replied turning back to stare outside.

''Dinners ready. We're all waiting for you to come down, so hurry! lets go.''

''I'm not hungry.''

''I'm not asking, I'm telling you to come down stairs.''

'There you go again' she thought, rolling her eyes in her mind as she moved away from the rocking chair that she was sitting on. Getting up, she had this feeling. A feeling of wanting to go outside, to the lake, but she couldn't tell her mother, or she wouldn't be able to go, so she had a plan.

"Mom, theres so much trash, I'll help Anna get it out," she called after eating a little just so her mom wouldn't keep sticking a stick in her backside.

"But..." "Oh, let her help around the house." Saved by her aunt Maggie, she ran out with the trash, because their trash bins were a few meters walk to the main road. After bumping all the garbage near the bin, she walked slowly towards her lake and her tree. By now it was twilight, and the sky changed its colour from a beautiful orange red, to a purplish black; and it got darker, as the night swallowed the day.

"Trin?" A voice startled her and as she turned to look, felt relieved that it was Britannia.

"Brit, it's only you,'' Trinity sighed. "What are you doing here?''

"I came here to check on you. I went to the diner earlier and Patricia told me you were not at work. So I just dropped by to see if everything was ok," she said as she dropped by her side on the ground.

"Yeah... well... " tears had started rolling down her cheeks.

"Hey what happened?" Britannia asked in concern.

"I don't know why my mother does this to me..." Trinity sniffled. She never let's me do anything...anything at all. She doesn't want me to work! I can't do anything without her stopping me. She doesn't understand me at all. I'm not even allowed to call my... Why?"

***

"Is everything ok between you and Trinity?" Margaret asked Dorin as they sat in the living room, sipping coffee. They both were wearing loose dresses, and while the brothers had decided to have some beers in the porch, these two ladies wanted to catch up on there lives.

"Yeah... I guess?" it came out more of a question than an answer. A question more to herself.

"I've been your best friend since high school. I can tell when you're lying, Dorin." Her questioning eyes staring at the blonde haired woman sitting across from her.

''You know Megs, she just doesn't seem to care or understand what I'm saying. I don't want her to work for that diner, I mean she has everything that money could buy. What does she need to work for?'' Dorin said with a concerned tone. ''I just don't want her to repeat the same mistakes I made when I was her age.''

''Then maybe it's time to tell her how you feel, and you can also voice out your concerns. One more thing; I believe you should cut her some slack... you know, like get her opinion on things and let her find her own way in the world. We all make mistakes and learn from them. You know you can't protect her forever.''

Dorin couldn't believe her ears, but she knew deep down that she was right. She eyed the short red haired woman to see if she was in anyway joking, but she was not, so she remained quiet.

''Maybe you should call without your mothers knowledge.''

Trinity eyed her friend. ''What do you mean?''

''You know what I mean!'' She picked up Trinity's phone and handed it to her.

''No. You don't mean that,'' Trinity said looking at her friend to see any hint of a laugh. She was dead serious.

Trinity dialed the number slowly, still eyeing the friend to make sure she meant it. She could hear the phone ringing. Just as she was about to cut the line, there came a ''Hello'' from the other side, in a mans voice. Her mind blanked out. All these years, she'd wanted to talk to her father, but now... everything went blank. She was about to cut the line when suddenly she heard her name, ''Trin? Is that you?''

''Daddy!''
