Chapter 3: CHAPTER 2 part 2
"Trinity?"
She heard her name, but turning back, she saw no one. She turned around again and continued looking for her mother, when her eyes landed on a huge buffet. It had everything, so she strolled over, her stomach grumbling. It was already 3 hours into the party, her mother was still missing, atleast for her. The usual buffets that she had gone to were usually everything on a huge table, with a plate and glass stand in the corner, but this was different. It had sections, like Seafood sec included everything found under the sea, from fish, to crabs, oysters, mussels, clams, seaweed, octopus and so on. Veggie sec included everything vegetarian, like kale, cabbage vegetable soup, and so on. Non Veg sec included all meats like poultry, beef, pork, venison, pigeon and so on. Pastry sec included all kinds of cakes and pies breads buns and so much more. Dessert sec included all flavours of ice cream. Beverage sec included everything liquid, like fruit juice, milkshake and alcoholic drinks for adults. It also had water. Fruit sec included all kinds of fruits, apples, pear, grapes, dragon fruit.... dragon.. looking at the fruit, Trinity was reminded of her dragon ornament.
Looking around she still couldn't see her mother, so she thought, 'Why not dig in first'. Picking up a plate, she began filling it up with salad, a boiled egg, some grilled turkey thighs and a glass of watermelon juice and headed over to the table to sit and enjoy her dinner. She never shyed from eating meat like other teenagers would do, yet her figure was a blessing from God. She never had to diet, or exercise, but she was always slim, like a Victoria's secret model.
"There you are, I've been looking for you," came her moms voice. She looked up from the painting that she was staring at. "I even called you, but you didn't see me."
"That was you? I've been looking for you too."
"You have?"
"Yeah! mom, I want something. Come with me," With that she lead her mom back to the ornaments.
"That," Trinity pointed at the majestic beast.
"That?," her mother said in horror. "Why not something else?, see theres the beautiful bunny," she pointed at a white bunny. "And there, look a baby giraffe with its mom, that looks cute," she said, pointing to a palm sized black giraffe standing, with a little one sitting underneath it. She almost sounded desperate.
"Mom, stop. I love the dragon, but if you don't wanna get it, fine. I don't want anything else," Trinity said, hurt evident in her voice, as she walked away.
"Rin... Rin?"
The dance floor was filled with couples waltzing away to the music, the lights shining a very dim orange colour. Children stood around a chocolate volcano about to erupt, giving strawberry ice cream lava and everything else was so wonderfully great, but Trinity's night had been ruined. It was always the same, whether they went shopping, or to the salon, or just walking down the street, if she wanted something, her mom immediately starts distracting her, never giving her that thing; and if it were Derek, he would get it instantly, no matter the cost. Patrick was in some ways better then her mom, he didn't care what she wanted, as long as no one whined in front of him. Had she told him, he'd have asked Mr Dayson if it was on sale, and bought it from him if it was.
She bumped into someone as she ran towards the door, spilling his drink. "Hey, you own me a drink," he caught her arm before she could run off.
"I'm sorry, but I've to go." She tried to yank her arm away, but he had better grip.
"Oh there you are," her mother's voice cut in. "What's going on?'' she asked, as she noticed the mans grip on her daughter's arm.
"She spilled my drink, so she owns me one," The man replied, eyeing both women.
Dorin narrowed her eyes, "Well, why don't you let go of her arm, and we get your drink, Mr Strawman."
"Something wrong?"
"No! no Mr Croven," Mr Strawman said, letting go of Trinity's arm.
"You two ok?" He asked his wife and daughter. They both nodded and giving one last look at Mr Strawman, he exited, with both ladies.
"What happened back there?" Patrick asked as their car left the parking lot of Mr Dayson.
"Ashtrovn was holding....''
"I mean between you and Trinity,'' Patrick said, as he turned another corner.
"Well, nothing... just...," Dorin trailed off.
The rest of the ride was silent. Trinity looked out of the window, as the beautiful crescent moon followed them, hiding from time to time. The street lights ran down the side of the road. Her mind ran back to the dragon. Why didn't her mother buy it?
As the car turned into their driveway, all everyone could think of was their warm and cozy bed. Trinity wanted nothing more than to strip off the dress and feel the warm water of her shower on her face and body.
After her shower, she got into her comfortable jumpsuit, and went to bed, thinking about her dad. Would things be different if he was here? Would she still feel this emptiness inside of her? Why did she want that dragon ornament so much? She felt like she had a connection to that stone carved gimcrack.
One thing was for sure, her thoughts weren't going to let her sleep tonight. Her dad had told her; more like warned her of this, but she was too young to understand. She did want to call him, but what if he had moved on? What if he had forgotten her, just like her mother says? What if he's no more? A silent tear rolled down her cheek.
